These so far are strange, but I'm guessing these are all part of a costume 'set' since each character has several costumes.

Seems so. Also to let people know, for Mercenaries there IS slots of potential future characters (likely DLC) but what's in the game now:

-Main Playable Characters (Campaign Characters in default costumes):
*Leon
*Helena
*Chris
*Piers
*Jake
*Sherry
*Ada

-Costume Set 1 (these seven characters in those joke-like costumes)

-Costume Set 2 (the characters in a blocky PS1 form)

-Costume Set 3 (its essentially costume set 1 with some modifications. Leon's costume is blue so you can pretend your Salazar I guess, and Helena's hat is different, but just recolors mostly).

-Then two additional characters:
-Carla
-HUNK(?)

So that makes 30 characters defaultly for Mercs, and I guess the costumes have different load-outs again.

Did you guys even PLAY RE5? Wesker got blown to hell with 2 rocket launchers PLUS he was in LAVA when he got hit! He's dead. Look it up on youtube

I'm torn now that I've seen so much of the game. I really don't like the direction Capcom has taken with this game, but I've played almost all of the Resident Evil games. I have "hope left" for Ada's campaign.

Wesker was in Resi 5's mercenaries - best character too! His loadout (wesker midnight) was superb. Blonde Jill, well i'd still much rather have her as a playable character than samurai chris! You're right though, sooner or later many of these characters will end up as DLC.
