Resident Evil 7 Short Video Series 5 and 6

In vol 5 you can see there is an objective list. Pretty explicit instructions. Wonder if you can turn that off. Looks like Baker will be like nemesis you can just down him but he'll be back later.

I really hate the breathing and groaning of your character. Really hope you can disable it in the sound options or something.

Edit: Please tell me you can disable the gratuitous breathing and other "immersive" vocal noises your character makes... it's the one thing that's killing this game for me.

After watching these two vids I saw the trailer Meet the Bakers. Damn this game looks FUCKED UP. In a way that Resident Evil never really has been before. A different kind of fucked up. I'm intrigued despite the demo being a let down.

Looking good. I honestly feel these mini videos were due to the criticism from earlier threads. Since a lot of people are loving these little snippets of gameplay. Showing that capcom isn't lying or making said ideas sound better than they actually are.

I do think only certain characters will regenerate though. I know they did say they want to make combat more personal, but I can't imagine every enemy in the game regenerating.

I wonder if the final update for the demo could hit by Halloween. Doubtful, but that would really hammer home the whole horror aspect.

It could be certain ways to defeat them.

Could be some enemies stalk you thoughout the game.

Are you preordering the game? If anything sounds like true purists of the classic mode will want to play the madhouse mode.

I couldn't get through it. I had to pause and close the application. I knew what was going to happen from the regular demo but I couldn't do it. :(

Try it again. I did the demo and was scared but it's not so bad. Since it's not a jump scare. I'm surprised so many people are scared easily with games. Not you but more a general thing I noticed. Just find it surprising is all. I also tried the lantern demo in VR. Seems capcom is doing a good job of staying off jump scares and more just wanting to make a tense atmosphere more than anything.

Could be. I'm all for a Nemesis style system to return.

So few small notes:
-Firstly, it seems like these videos may be weekly, releasing a dual-set every Monday.
-I'm so happy the 'I'm hurt!" vignette is a LOT less distracting than when Revelations 2 did it. Though I do wonder if like other things you can turn it on/off? Still could use a bit of work.
-I kind of noticed it with the item box video, but the herb video confirms it: You can see your current objective on the inventory screen. Something to note is the inventory is also real-time.
-As others have noted, in the herb video it seems like your goal is to collect three dog heads and open the entrance to the yard. We seem to know one of them is in a 'dissection room'. First of all the Cerberus comparison doesn't escape me (and how Cerberus was the dog enemies in Resident Evil 1), but also I will bet you this game has some kind of dog enemy. I've been thinking this for a while, but this next to confirms it. I'll bet you get the 'key items' to pass the yard but collecting the three dog heads will bring some three-headed dog monster or something to attack you (and such a thing is some kind of experiment the Bakers did).
-Chem Fluid is the thing in the inventory that has yellow on it, seems when you combine it you get a first-aid medicine. I'm wondering if the 'Closing up wounds' comment on the Med Kit means the game has some sort of bleeding system?
-The second video includes the first solid look at gunplay, but it looks about what I expected considering everything so there's not much I have to say about the gunplay itself, outside of I find it interesting there's an 'aim down sights' function.
-This appears to be the location from the trailer where Jack bursts out of the wall, but I wonder why he here is shirtless and has commando pants. Does he just toss off his shirt at some point, is this revisiting the location later?
-Now I kind of already knew that enemies regenerated due to paying attention, but I'll admit that Jack got up a lot faster than I was expecting. Given maybe he has more rejuvenation abilities than his companions. I get the feeling he might be a bigger bad.
-WTF at the weapon Jack's holding there, it looks like a spiked-out paint roller. Notably it's also different than the shovel he had in the trailer. I wonder if this is a bit later in the same location, or if this is Jack on Madhouse Mode or something (where maybe the enemies get an aesthetic difference and different weapon on the game's hard mode, something Clock Tower 3 & Haunting Ground did):

-While we kind of saw this in the Baker video, enemies seem to be able to knock you back and throw you on the ground.
-When the player aimed their gun at Jack to shoot him, he instinctively rose his hand to his face to protect it. Interesting.
-He spits out blood before he falls, and blood does leak out of his head like the older RE games.
-The room Jack bursts out of in the trailer seems to actually be a room and you can access it through the hole in the wall.
-Game does seem to have a dynamic 'model damage' system as where the player shot Jack did leave bullet holes on him.

I don't mind the Baker family being unkillable stalker types, but I hope there will be regular old enemies that we can actually put down for good.

All of these little shorts seem to be from the beginning of the game though so I can only assume I don't have worry about that too much.

Now this is looking more Resident Evil. Guns look a little bit scripted in a way that there is no real aiming going on, but that might just be the video. If the models are properly dynamic, then it's gonna look pretty amazing. I'm hoping for a full on shotgun blast reshape.

Capcom have said before they want to keep most of the game a surprise, and going by save times and other things, it looks like everything we've been shown so far are from the first main location of the game and from the first hour - hour and a half of the game. Which going by reports, may be of a total 12-16 hour long game.

I'm not against the presence of a Lisa Trevor-like opponent. I am opposed to the idea of them making up the entire game as bullet sponges that barely react to getting shot.
