Resident Evil 7 Spoiler Thread

what do you mean why would he see Eveline as an old woman? thats her real form, the girl is a hallucintion. That he SEES the girl during the game is the proof that hes infected.

Are we sure about that ? Multiple files mention that they gave the BOW the appearance of a little girl on purpose.

Some later files start mentioning how sometimes Eve appears as a little girl and sometimes she appears as an old woman. So, it probably depends on Eve herself.

This game really is a game of highs and lows.
I almost feel like there were two creative voices clashing with each other.
One who wanted a more even paced survival horror and one who wanted action guns blazing.
Thankfully the 1st voice seemed to win out more, but the 2nd voice kinda spoiled things somewhat.
I've been seeing this a lot and I really don't think it's true. Basically every classic re game has that moment near the end of the game where it takes the gloves off and you can just mow down hordes to your heart's content. I think this game just made the mistake of taking them off a little too early compared to like, re2 or re1 and suffers for it, but lets not act like it's exactly a new idea for the series to completely drown you in ammo and let you go ape shit at the end of the game.

"Lastly, why was Ethan bloody in the intro when viewing Mia's message? I could just be remembering wrongly though."

Yeah, the whole mia tape is pretty much a plot hole in my book. When you actually play Mia in that part of the game and record that message, there's a very loud boat alarm going on in the background, yet when ethan actually listens to the the tape, no background alarms can be heard.
She had enough time to edit the video and cut out the sound, obvs

Its not a new idea. But its also not a good idea, not for this game.
It simply wasn't fun.

There's a file that mentions that she is engineered be a girl for infiltration purposes but she requires medication go keep her powers in check. She begins aging rapidly on the baker farm due to not getting these shots.

Old Evie is the real one.

This helps me to rationalize that he Bakers were seeing Eveline as a young girl at the family dinner. I believe only Lucas mentions the old woman and Eveline the young girl as separate entities (in the video before entering his trial). This would also make sense because he (Lucas) is free of her control.

How can Lucas be free of her control, when he the the same black goo crap in him as the others?

The second or third series of files found in the salt mines' lab mentions that Eve was starting to age and show gray hair. She is definitely suffering from accelerated aging. Eveline projects herself a young girl though because she only sees herself as such.

This also brings up another question to me, would Eveline have died of old age due to her accelrated aging anyway? Would this have made Jack, Marguerite, and Mia sane regardless?

Well, I could be assuming incorrectly, but I thought that Eveline projects herself as a young girl to the people she infects so they literally can't see her as anything else. This would explain to me why Ethan didn't see her as the old woman when he first injected her at the end of the game.

How I see it, Eveline is a virus. A self aware virus I guess, If youre infected, she can make you see shit, like see a little girl teleporting all over the place. Her physical form is the old woman, which looking back, makes it extra creepy because she was there at the start and stalking you throughout the game.

And dont forget, Eveline WAS a little girl. She eventually grows old (rapidly) with the Bakers. And the Bakers dont need to see her as anything, for them shes part of the family, like Mia is. Because the virus makes them think they are, the virus is obcessed with family.

this

for example, after killing marguerite, the whole "ring like" sequence, where the walls have kid drawings and then seconds later when you see the little girl legs and come out, the walls all have fucked drawings. That wasnt old ass eveline quickly drawing on the walls lol, that was ethan seeing what she wanted him to see. One can assume that the mind control comes much later in the infection process, so she could only mess with him a little but not fully make him part of the family.

Don't tell me that people never thought about this when fighting Eveline's final form:

This shit is so whack, I hate.

Lucas just being a fucking weirdo creep also explains why the story about the attic makes him sound like a little kid. That's effed up

do you think im wrong, or u just hate it? lol.

is that Rev 2?

No you're right. I just don't personally like that in a RE game. It is what it is though .

It's my favorite bioweapon concept in Resident Evil since the G-Virus.

I can see why some people like it. But it doesn't sit with me. I think had they maybe cut out the little girl angle and such, I might have liked it more.

Psychic virus biological weapon. Its awesome.

You suck Munch!

we should co-op RE6 so I finally play it btw

I think she's a little kid that was just raised to be a potent bioeeapon, which is why you see so many failed (?) experiments like the D series.

And I think a file mentions that it can make you hallucinate right off the bat, but it must reach your brain to do nastier stuff.

Old Evie is the real one.

I guess that makes sense as that's what she reverts to after being injected.

I'll tell you though, future play throughs will never be the same. They set it up so the player could sense something being wrong with the grandma. Seeing the wheel chair pop up in random locations.

Then yo see the empty wheelchair near the end when you're about to confront Eve, that's the icing on the cake.

So what's up with Lucas's getting his arm cut off at dinner if he isn't really infected now?

The guess is that he has the benefits of the virus minus the mind control. Kinda like Wesker had gotten with T.

Is that the electric dude? I played that game twice but I have no idea what that is. Or is it the fly monster?

The electric one.
Simmons was a good idea but executed poorly. His forms go on for way too long.

He is infected. He has the regenerative capabilities. It's just he isn't likely under E-001's mind control. He's just evil because he's evil and loves being invincible.

It was all set up in the beginning. There is a picture of grandma with e001 writen on the backside in the room where Mia lays down. Much later, after learning about evelines rapid aging process we find the picture again at the end. It all clicked for me right in this moment and I just stood there in disbelief for a second or two.

Edit: I'm on my second playthrough atm and I even started to notice that there is no grandma in the bakers family photos. That's also a nice hint...

That really made me feel bad for Jack. He believes his son is a decent person that's being used like the rest of them. Turns out Lucas really is a bad seed.

I still don't understand how, if dead/cured, Jack and Zoe are still mentally connected to Eveline while Ethan is cocooned.

So I guess he's just fucking with Ethan for the kicks? Or would killing Evie stop his regenerative abilities?

is not a hero going to be a Chris DLC? :o

On eassumes with Evie dead all the traces of the virus would also die

Notice that Jack/Zoe's "Statues" don't crumble away like Marguerite's/Mia on the Bad Ending path do.

Yes it is.

It clicked for me when I was reading the report about the rapid aging then I was like, "Wait! The grandma's actually Eveline!" Seeing the photo again with the E-001 written on it only confirmed my suspicions. When I saw that photo confirming it, I was like, "Well played Capcom...well played!"

The bakers must know about lucas. Lucas killed his friend oliver as a kid by trapping him. Latter lucas complained about a bad smell and some weird fluid (rotten body fluid) leaking from upstairs. No way the rest of the family didn't notice it too, especially the smell.

Zoe and Jack are only cocooned, it prevents their regeneration, mutation etc, but they're still in there. When Ethan is goo'd up, he's connected to the same thing that connects the rest of the Bakers, they're alive... somewhere. Zoe might still be alive, but once Evie dies, Jack's probably fucked as his control of the virus is probably gone

Jack being alive would be odd though. Could he really go back to human form after that? Unless it has some C-Virus in it, going back and forth isn't a common thing.

One of my favourite things to think about while playing this game is how Chris or any other mainline character would fucking destroy this house like its nothing.

literally all of the bakers are like mook-tier j'avo in terms of what they're capable of which just makes the kinda way this game fits into the RE universe all the better imo

it's really good at showing how absolutely fucking terrifying the RE universe's bioweapons are at pretty much the smallest possible scale

He's probably fuuuuuuucked
