Resident Evil 7 Spoiler Thread

Maybe the actor strike has something to do with it.

This is the most likely case. The guy voicing Chris in the Japanese dub of the game has been providing his voice to the character since Revelations (which I believe is the first game in the series to have a Japanese dub).

Watching the EZA stream, I love how you just assume Marge is talking about herself in third person because she's crazy or whatever "She loves you, just accept her fucking gift!", but she's pretty explicitly talking about Evie. Lots of little details that play with your expectations.

Mia probably told Zoe about the Serum. Mia knows about it from Alan and you have the necrotoxin case during her tape on the ship. My own question : Mia and Alan work presumably for Umbrella (they had a codex watch the guy at the end calls you on) and they were carrying Eveline to another facility because they were afraid she would get kidnapped. She's the latest E model of the toxin. So why do the baker have a D baby foetus?
I think it's pretty heavily implied that they don't work for Umbrella, but rather the other org that created Eve that Lucas is in cahoots with. No idea where the D series came from, but my guess would be that it was on the ship with them as a neutralizing agent.

Umbrella isn't making lab stuff anymore yeah? Just stealing?

Yooo does that guy voice Redfield?

She's obviously talking about Jesus

That guy on the radio still sounds way too similar to RCS than Redfield at the end of the game to me. I just wanna play that Not a Hero dlc already so it clears up the confusion.

It does seem like whoever the voice actor is, he's trying his best RCS impression. So that's good at least. Since I agree, I could tell it was at least similar. If they're gonna keep changing actors, it'll be nice if they at least try to work off the previous voices. That's why DC Douglas worked out as wesker so well. More or less was a combination of all the Wesker VA before him.

For the love of god I cannot get the trophy 'FLY SWATTER' to trigger. Watched several YouTube guides and spent over an hour now trying to get it in several spots of the house. Does anyone have any tips?

Okay just finished the game and got "ending 2". Now I assume which ending you get depends on who you choose to give the serum to right?

Anyway I can't say I was a huge fan of how things actually played out storywise. Felt way too much like the plot of FEAR done by Resident Evil. I cared little for either Ethan or Mia as characters, and while I suppose I wasn't expecting Mia to be working for what I assume were the real villains, I just wish I knew who they were. The final boss and using the samurai edge was pretty neat, but that scene with Ethan talking to Jack on the couch was pretty hamfisted as it was clear from the beginning that the Bakers are kind of tragic characters. I think overall it just feels more like a side story rather than a mainline title, although some of the reveals at the end could advance the series in some interesting ways.

Ever since a cameo was confirmed I always figured it would be Chris and the BSAA showing up to get you at the end. Lo and behold I was correct, only that wasn't the BSAA (Umbrella Corporation what?) and that was not Roger Craig Smith (c'mon Capcom). I still have plenty of questions as well. What is the organization that created Evie? Is Lucas still out there? What happened to the BSAA?

Gameplay, design, and atmosphere were where this game absolutely shined. The Baker Estate was classic RE to the bone, albeit somewhat more condensed and in first person. I loved it and while the quality does drop from the ship onwards, I still immensely enjoyed the game as a whole. My two biggest complaints here are probably the story and the enemy variety, besides the Bakers its just the bugs (which are more a small nuisance than anything) and the molded, which got pretty boring after awhile. Also the Bakers spend such little time stalking you that I almost wonder why that was even a thing in the first place.

Still trying to wrap my head around the game as whole but I'm hesitant to give it a ranking until I run through it a few more times. I'm pretty pumped to try out Madhouse mode as well.

You more or less have the exact same feeling I did.
Albeit written in a much nicer tone. I don't hate the game though. But the story stuff you didn't like really bothered me.

I've done this one today totaly by accident, Marguerite was crawling on the wall on my right and i was using my flamethrower on her and she suddently fell on the ground lol ! And the succes popped in! (was on Easy Mode)

I think the trophy might be mislabeled. Seems to clear pop when you just knock her off a wall. Rather than shoot her mid jump.

Here let me fan-fic some shit for you:

Not-Umbrella (we'll just call them "Poncho") tries to create a bioweapon capable of both being able to hide in plain sight as well as manipulating the target populace. They choose to model the "virus" after a child, that could be paired with a false family unit at the behest of whichever rebel nation purchases it. But to do that successfully, they had to condition the "child" to desire and require a mother, father, and even siblings just like a real child would. Enough for the people checking pockets and papers, at least.

What they didn't expect, because let's be honest those fuckers are coked up 24/7, that the child would end up acting like a curious George, and steal the janitorial staff's taped bootlegs of ABC network's long-defunct TGIF primetime block. On sub-level 1 of the ship, there's a VHS titled "EV-001 watches a very special Step-by-Step Xmas." It, of course, shows Evie taping herself watch a tape of said special, and becoming psychologically warped.

Mia catches her while she's going through the credits, and Evie asks Mia why Cody appeared at the start but just sort of disappeared by the dinner scene at the end. Mia tells her "Stop calling me mommy do I look haggard and used up" and then proceeds to punch the VHS player like Chris Redfield because there's like a training video they show everyone who joins the BOW field and- anyways, this pisses Evie right off and she starts fucking everything in the ship up. And now she wants the entire Step-by-Step cast including Cody to be her family, eventually realizing that Jack is too old to play him, but this guy Ethan Mia keeps apologizing to in her sleep...

Also Ethan "accidentally" set the neighbor's cat on fire as a kid and he's been kinda off ever since.

So, in a cutscene Jack says the deputy would help him in making Ethan suffer and mold starts growing over the dead body

I was fulling expecting him to become a new type of Molded but that never happened. That whole cutscene screams cut content for me.

That would've been a 10/10 experience

The set up did seem poised to be another boss fight in that area. But with infected cop being the boss. Then they just gave up for whatever reason and just made him a gross way to get a key.

Lucas decapitates him and puts his mutated head in the trailer fridge to tease Ethan as to where to go next. That's why his body has a neck stump for you to stick your hand in and get the key.

Yeah what was up with that?

Quite a bit of this game screams cut content to be honest.

Nah, i'm saying I think the whole Infected cop in general was moved to being a decapitated body after the fact. Like I could see originally Lucas getting that body and putting it in the same area you fought jack with the chainsaw. Making it a boss fight to get the key. But then for whatever reason, they ditched that idea and did what we got.

Fair enough. I personally thought it'd be hilarious if teeth grew out of the stump and took Ethan's hand off (again), forcing you to battle it using just a pistol or knife to get your hand back.

I doubt Lucas sick game was part of Jack's intentions. At that point he wants Ethan dead ASAP. I think the original plan was for the deputy to become a new Molded and fight Ethan just before Jack's fight, but CAPCOM probably discarded the idea.

Might've been done for the sake of pacing. Up until you get to the ship, I don't think the game really suffers from much gameplay bloat, and this change might've been made for that purpose. Oh well, we won't know.

I think it's an example of Lucas fucking up everything for his own purposes. You're supposed to think it'll be a molded boss (Jack did too) but it's not.

Yeah, that's what I was expecting.
Guess it was a case of straying from the obvious. Since i'm sure everyone thought the dead body was gonna do something.

Wow never got killed by Jack after the dinner scene until now,sob cut my leg and put a health bottle to bait me haha,it was awesome.
Mia was a pain in the ass too,20 headshots are not enough to taker her down,Madhouse will be a wild ride by the look of it.

I guess it's just finnicky then. Me and the other poster must have knocked her off as the game was telling her to leap so it counted.

Yeah I think you must have been a bit lucky in that respect.

Did you knock her off the wall early on/when she was just crawling around or when she was getting ready to pounce?

When she was crawling, but that wasn't what I was getting at. I'm refuting that you can just get it by knocking her off.

I'm personally not that bothered I missed the achievement. I don't have a save around that point anymore, and I'm swamped with games at the moment so another playthrough is out of the question. xD

I know there's a backpack in the
salt mines
. I got it in my last playthrough.

I'm on madhouse and haven't came across it yet. Was it right at the end? I'm about half ways through it, at the save point.

I'm doing a collectibles run on Easy atm. I accidentally missed the coin at the beginning of the ship right before you see Evie at the top of the stairs on the 1st level (I think). It's in the water in the segment just prior yet when I turn around to open the door the handle comes off but I can't remember (from my first run) whether or not I can get back to that other side cos it would TRULY suck to have to start another run from scratch when I'm getting to the end. :lol

So I've heard there are different playthroughs for certain situations. Like people are claiming that they aren't getting the scar on their arm maybe not getting it cut off idk?

Also the Garage fight.. I got the me driving the car and ramming the father.. But I've seen the father get in and try to ram Ethan.

So how are these decided?

Jack gets inside the car himself eventually if you don't.

Only time I saw jack hop in the car was on madhouse and that's because I couldn't get the key in time. If you take too long he hops in I believe. He did it fairly fast on madhouse.

Relating to the car -
When you get the key, if you then try and get into the car with the father close to you, he'll pull you out after you've put the keys in the iginition and then drive himself. If you get in the car when he's far enough away, you drive it until he jumps on the roof.

They do. The 3 box opens are mandatory.

Putting stuff in, Taking stuff out and getting stuff after mia

So basically using infinite ammo and the Albert is out of the question. Oh boy, this should be fun.

Jack can use the car even without the key lol, if you do enough damage he will get pissed and will go to the car.

Lucas cut his head off before full transformation and put it on Zoe's fridge
