Resident Evil 7 Spoiler Thread

So guys shows up all suited up and says he is Redfield and looks nothing like him, takes the Ethan & Mia away in the helicopter and the camera pans out and shows "Umbrella" on the side.
I must missed something and it's already been discussed as noone is talking about it. Recap anyone?
pretty please?
Who in their right mind would still be using that haircut in their 40's
Brad Pitt did.

Oh, we were talking about it for over a week. Since the ending is so intentionally vague, we're officially split into #TeamChris and #TeamHUNK. As for Umbrella, that's also too ambiguous to draw any reasonable conclusions on their intentions. You could say that the umbrella being blue and white could symbolize that it is not the same malevolent corporation which started all the horrors 30 years ago, but is instead a reformed one. Whether they know target and dispose of B.O.W.s or were reformed to start all the corporate shade again is anyone's guess at this point. Not A Hero DLC and hopefully Vendetta should answer most of the questions.

The day after I finished the game, I actually spent hours combing through this thread. It was pretty enjoyable to read all the theories. Right now, this seems like a good substitute for the RE community thread.

Either way, to add if the new Umbrella is up to shady experimental shit, Ethan and Mia are likely fucked. If they were only in the estate to clean the mess like Ethan claimed, I can see them making it out fine. But it also hinges on which ending is canon. The canon ending could even incorporate events from both endings in the game.

Guys I've solved it

CAPCOM!!!!!

Mia on Madhouse wasn't so bad. Took me 3 attempts and one of those she scared the shit out of me bursting through a wall. Just making sure every shot is a headshot drops her pretty fast.

CAPCOM!!!!!

I guess they were trying really hard to piss you off with RE7, Jawmuncher.

Whatever did you do to poor Capcom.

Same. Once you know you can block the charge attack it's just a matter of keeping your distance.

So why does Eve have the family keep the serum around if she hates it and knows it will kill her, also that it serves no benefit for her? Why not just have them toss the body parts required to conjure it into the river or in a fire?

It seems like Eve can read the minds of the people she controls, so wouldn't she know? Zoe tells you when you reach the cabin that she thinks her mother hid away the other doll part and we know that the crazy Baker son knew about the parts because he taunts you about them.

Yikes.

I'm not sure Eveline can read minds. She can control people's actions by creating an urge for them to act a certain way, but I'm not sure about reading minds.

As I understand it Lucas received those body parts from an organization, so that he could synthesize a serum that would stop Eveline's control on him. So I'm guessing Lucas just hid them around where the other members of the family couldn't find them.

I'd go

RE4
RE2
RE7
REmake

and then I really do love the original, 3, and code veronica. I liked Revelations 2 as well. RE5 was ferociously fun with a buddy, but listless as a single player experience. I played Revelations 2 local co-op with my old roommate. I don't know, how to rank them.

I would say, I enjoyed Dead Aim more than Resident Evil 6.

Wow, madhouse makes this game feel even more Resident Eviler. And Jack is way more persistent which was a critique I have with the normal game.

Just got jumped by a Licker Molded and managed to panic headshot it in one. Wew!

The Baker House on Madhouse is fucking GOAT-tier. It unfortunately highlights the slow downgrade of quality in the areas and what they provide beyond that even more though than it did in Easy/Normal. When I saw Jack burst through the locked door in the start hallway on Madhouse after I unlocked it I shat myself. I did not expect that. :lol I was hoping we'd then see Marge appearing more frequent in other spots too but alas that wasn't to be.

The biggest giveaway that that isn't Chris is that Chris is actually fucking hot. This guy looks like a fucking goober. Sorry HUNK.

His animations are quite obviously sped up to a ridiculous degree. His power walk is faster than your sprint. It's so stupid yet the game would be quite different if you were able to outrun him I guess.

In all fairness, you sprint at something like 0.78 MPH. A turtle with two clubbed feet can out-sprint Ethan.

I think i should've listened to my instinct and play Madhouse from the get-go for a greater experience, this mode is not really that hard tbh.
Unfortunately this is the thing with horror games, you can only do it once.

Agreed. I wish the whole game was as good as the Baker house.

Smashed Jack first time. Circular Saw and ducking under his swings makes the fight a joke. Now Marguerite.

No need to even dodge his attacks. Just go ham with Circular Saw since it staggers too.

So, did we discuss who Lucas was speaking with in the emails in his hideout at the end of the game?

Considering that he is the only Baker family member who got away, that he might become a Wesker like character in later games.

A lot of the bioweapon stuff at the end feels really vague as to who developed Eveline. Was it Umbrella? Or another corporation?

Honestly, I feel this game has me asking the most questions I've ever asked this series

Chris looks different in every game
LOL
because this keeps being stated.

Other than the muscles 5's is based on the REmake face at least, same for Jill.
it was just more pronounced in the earlier renditions of the model

6's is just aged version of 5's with adjusted proportions based on the new body(thicker neck, ears a tad smaller).

Darkside Chronicles slightly widened the REmake model and makes the similarity instantly noticeable.

Blasting through this on Madhouse. The two fat molded are tough as hell. I just punt 9 magnum bullets into one and it didn't kill it.

Alternate prologue ending should be Ethan pushing boxes to reach the attic window, climbing up, then turning around briefly towards the camera after it zooms out and saying "deuces".

If I was Ethan I would have bailed seeing Jack walk towards the house at the beginning. 3 years gone and THIS is where my wife lured me? Fuck that - I'll stay single thanks.

Yeah someone mentioned that earlier in the thread.

Ethan sees an unknown figure stalking past

Ethan starts to back up slowly, then quick turns the fuck back to his car

Achievement pops up-

"Did you think this was a fucking game?"

I'm not sure what point you are making here, as you posted 7 images and near as I can tell there are 3 or 4 different versions of Chris. Also you neglected to include Code Veronica. You could even stretch to include the version of Chris from artwork/cutscenes of the original if you really wanted to

He doesn't have a consistent look, I don't think this is a problem or anything, I'm just saying that his new look in no way suggests that it's a different Chris or an impostor. Although tbh, I'm fine with the new Chris as I hated the boulder-punching roid-rage Chris.

I wouldn't have even gone past the creepy cow parts and saw blade extravaganza.

"Alright time to rescue my wife! Boy that's a big house but its nothing I can't.......AND I wonder what's on TV back at the hotel, later honey".

I've asked this question before, but I'm not sure if I ever got any thoughts. If Eveline was suffering from hyper accelerated aging, wouldn't she have died due to old age within another year or two anyway, which would break her control over Mia and the Baker family? Lastly, are the E-series cells directly linked to Eveline? If so, wouldn't that mean that if she dies, the E-series cells would die along with her (including the ones in those she infects)?

I'm not sure what point you are making here, as you posted 7 images and IMO there are 4 different versions of Chris. Also you completely neglected to mention Code Veronica. Do you genuinely think Chris has a consistent look across the series?

I don't think this is a problem or anything, I'm just saying that his new look in no way suggests that it's a different Chris or an impostor.

Chris has had a consistent design since 2002 with REmake.

ok i'm curious here: which is the '4th' version of chris assuming REmake, darkside chronicles and the re5 beta are numbers 1-3?

So has anyone here finished Ethan Must Die yet? Playing it, I realized that -- as least so far -- it's not actually "hard" in the typical way. Basically, once you make some forward progress, it's more like treating the enemies themselves as mini-puzzles; lots of baiting. I've only made it to the secret passage which leads from the workshop room to the bedroom, but I assume there's plenty more.
