Resident Evil Revelations 2 new info

The game has so few features that it's really a wonder why they don't release it on 3DS, since that was the RE:R version that easily sold the best.

Because the 3DS is not capable of running the game, sure, they could port it, but that's an extra effort not necessary when the game is already available on 5 different systems.

And honestly, who would buy the reductive 3DS version anyway? A waste of money.

They handled partner AI really well in RE6.

- Very capable at kicking ass even or higher difficulties
- Can be commanded to go after specific enemies
- Unlimited ammo
- Invincible
- Don't fail QTEs

You're right, that sounds way better than the RE5 implementation. Part of the reason I haven't played RE6 was because of the AI coop (on top of the more action-oriented design but that's personal preference) so its good to hear that's not an issue.

Hopefully RE:R2 similarly takes lessons on how not to do it from RE5.

Also Offline only? Lol, fuck you Capcom.

Wait, shouldn't PS4 shareplay mitigate the lack of online co-op? I guess you'd still see the game in split screen (right?) but it's better than nothing.

The day has come.

For the record I rather enjoyed Ashley but hooboy, the internet at large sure didn't.

Huh, I didn't realize the internet felt that way. Trust me, I had plenty of reservations when I heard that Ashley was an AI that would accompany you but she really worked out okay. The way she followed immediately behind the player and stuck to your back when aiming kept frustration to an absolute minimum.

Ashley is without a doubt one of the best examples of companion AI done right I've seen to this day. Mostly because she follows your commands/movements so well and doesn't think for herself. So I guess the AI tech engineer might disagree. ;)

If your going to ruin the game with co op might as well go all the way with it and include online.

Unless of course the above post proves true

While I like that there's offline co-op, why no online option?

Someone mentioned it might have something to do with the fact that Claire's the only one who can die and that does seem like it could eliminate the experience for the online partner. Having a local partner could possibly prove more dynamic for what they're working on.

If it has no connection to Revelations 1, why call it Revelations 2?

These Revelation games are just flashbacks of incidents occurring in the overall story. I imagine if there's another after this, it may be unrelated to this one.

No connection to the original? Then why call it Revelations 2? The ending even left it open to a second game!

"Revelations" seems to be what they're calling this sub-series, more survivival focused while the mainline games continue to be all-out action.

I'm okay with that.

That remains to be seen.

The first Revelations was anything but that.

I don't want online co-op. I don't want offline co-op either. Co-op ruins RE games. I'm ok with it in things like Mercenaries or an equivalent mode, but I feel any kind of focus on co-op in the main game hurts the single player.

That might mean coop has a lesser role in general, which would be good.

How could they lessen co-op if the game is confirmed to be a co-op game, just offline? I am glad there is co-op and that it is offline, as that's the only way I play these things, but unless I'm missing something the removal of online co-op won't affect how the game plays at all. So this decision, which seems like a cheapy move by Capcom, really just angers both sides of the debate (with a small niche minority, which I am a part of, being generally ok with it).

Well, I think you have to check in every hour, although you can start as many sessions as you want. And your friend would miss out on trophies.

what a bizarre choice

i wonder why it's like this specifically. aespecially wondering how this plays out in terms of scenario design- maybe just strictly single player design with some hacked-in co-op that was forced on 'em by higher ups?

Im just thinking from the unfamilar POV. Resident Evil is a well known brand but people seeing '2' may just think 'hmm didnt play the first of that sub-series, wont bother playing catch up'

Does adding online coop really take that much effort if the offline stuff is already in place?

It's possible that online coop may be added for the extra content whether that's Raid Mode or Mercs is unknown as of now.

I don't think it's got anything to do with effort, it seems like a decision made to relieve some potential issues. This game may have been designed for single player, but the addition of local coop sounds like it's to not completely write off coop altogether.

I can personally see how upsetting it could be to have an invincible partner online while whoever is Claire is more vulnerable haha

Oh that makes sense, it is pretty perplexing.

So... forced co-op again, I guess it will never EVER leaves the Resident Evil games EVER again, worse news ever... the series is forever downgraded then.

It might mean the coop generally didn't have that much focus in development and no bigger importance in the game design like RE5, hence not even featuring online modes, but simply is in there because it is now unfortunately expected from the series to have it in, in one way or another.
Revelations could have also had coop, because the story had multiple characters, but the single player wouldn't have suffered either, unlike RE5. So again, this might (!) be a good sign.

That's pretty weird. Makes me think that either this game started on an inferior platform like the 3DS or that they didn't set out to make a game with traditional co-op.

People complaining about Co-op online being excluded? There shouldn't be any fucking co-op at all.

Seriously LOL what is up with her face? Why does she look so grumpy HAHAHA

Seems odd to even include coop if they didn't plan to have it work online, why not just stick to one character and call it a day?

Keys alone aren't enough to get me excited but they're a good start.

Keys are good, hopefully they're not all single use and discard. I want to know what the amount of ammo and supplies available in the game will be.

will have no connection at all to the first Revelations

Wise move, Capcom.

I can't believe Capcom actually replaced Alyson Court after 16 years of being the only consistent voice for one of their characters.

Definitely not supporting this.

No online co-op? Fucking GOOD.

It didn't start on the 3DS.

Voice actors get replaced all the time for a variety of reasons. This sort of logic is sad.

BIO1, BIO2, BIO3 and BIO4 all had forced co-op in parts and they are all excellent games. REV2 is basically a combination of the co-op systems in BIO0 and BIO4.
