Resident Evil: Veronica (Code Veronica Remake) Announced

Please no erasure of the cross dressing community, we are unique from trans. Also we are capable of being evil like other human beings so if they take away the "cross dressing freak" line I will report them to NATO.

This is now my second most hyped game, at the moment. Starfox, then this.

I loved Veronica. I might hold it up even more because it was a Dreamcast game. 🤣

CV is very special to me because it the was the first RE game that was all mine. I was always obsessed with them but never owned a PS. CV also has a unique flavor to it that I love. It's an epic globetrotting story with graphics that were so clean for the time.

You should learn french, it's a beautiful language.

I like how they're retconning the series to make this RE:V. It's brilliant frankly. Anyone ask about Shiva and boulder punching and just act dumb about it. Eventually, the future generations will forget. This was always RE:V.

I played 5 last year. The hand wringing over remaking it is insane. Game takes place in Africa and half the people you kill aren't even black. Even if they were, what does it matter? It's in Africa. I don't think regular people would care.

Capcom made a lot of changes due to feedback after the initial reveal. They listened and people still raged and are waiting to do it again. I just hope it's clear (to Capcom) from the numbers the game did that the perpetually offended are not the majority.

I don't want to celebrate before I know what they have changed... I am afraid they've made it more "serious" and less over-the-top than the original.
I share this concern. 4R was a good example of how they stripped away a lot of the character in favour of moody atmosphere. CV has its fair share of moments and I think they're going to have a complete personality shift.

It's a manufactured controversy. All these years and I'm yet to be convinced that it's anything but. I'd wager that half the people who parrot RE5 being controversial couldn't tell you why.
Hope after this game they retcon the series direction and go somewhere else. Killing Wesker off was the biggest mistake the series ever made.
For years I've had a theory that the whole remake series has been for that sole reason. We're relatively close to seeing if I'm right.

However, I will say that
I'm not sure how keeping Wesker alive would work with an imitation Wesker also having existed. But I suppose they kept it so ambiguous that it can still go in multiple directions.

With 9 introducing clones a lot of the old rules might be rewritten. It's Capcom's own multiverse problem.

It's a remake, after RE2 she dumps Sherry onto Leon and goes straight to keep looking for his brother, CVX happens a few months after RE2 as well, so there is nothing from Claire happening in between that timeline

Trailer looked great and nothing like CVX, I like how they're adding a prologue to the story, because in the original she goes to the Umbrella Building in France shooting bullets like crazy and then get overwhelmed and captured, here you see her arriving to France looking for Chris normally, cool they'are adding more to the story and I guess Hunk is in fully and not just name dropped in some note unless it's not the real one but someone from his team

The forest shown is what I cannot see a connection with the original game, overall it's great they're finally remaking CVX after so many years
The forest could be the cemetery at start after the prison, remember this game will be reamagined alot

I fail to see the problem, honestly. RE works better when it is dark and serious. I don't mind the badass moments, I just don't like it when the protagonists act like they star in a Michael Bay movie.

And yes, I always hated stuff like 'Where's everyone going? Bingo?'

So if Veronica minimizes cringe like that, or removes them entirely, I'm more than fine with that.

RE for me isn't the Bay one-liners.

It's the zombie turning its head.

The licker's saliva dropping in slow motion as it descends on you.

The save room music stopping abruptly after a window cracks.

THAT is Resident Evil for me.

Code Veronica worked specifically because it was over-the-top, imho. Was it paced like an action "B-Movie"? Sure. But I wouldn't have liked it as much if it had been "just" another Resident Evil game.
