Respawn attending E3 2013, not showing up empty handed

I think you're overestimating COD players. They see Infinity Ward; you'd be surprised how little they care that the creators are now Respawn. Don't overestimate the stupidity of 13 years olds.

Yeah it's pretty crazy. I've heard a lot of them say how Infinity Ward sucks and how Treyarch are the real brains behind the series.
Not even being aware that today's Infinity Ward is a shell of its former self.

I've heard this from 20 year olds so I'm sure 13 years old don't know any better.

As much as I'm sick of COD now I have to say that I loved all of Inifinity Ward's games pre MW2. With COD4:MW being an amazing game when it came out. And it didn't insult me for being a PC gamer.

I'm sure Respawn's first game will see a good PC release.

We have quite a few people from the old Paradigm crew here. It's scary that some of us have been working together for ~18 years.

It's always great to hear of people in the industry sharing a history like that. I didn't know it went back that far.

Because these are emotionless corporations that are only interested in making money. The only reason Activision are 'in bed' with Microsoft is because they recongise the strength of COD and so have shelled out money on co-marketing and DLC exclusivity deals, if Sony made a better deal then Activision will be 'in bed' with Sony. Loyalty is a quality that I associate with people and emotions and that is why I said it was a poor choice of words.
Fine fine, shouldn't have used loyalty.

I would imagine Sony's conference, just based on the assumption MS are getting CoD locked down for the timed exclusive content and other little bits and bobs.

So next gen it will be Destiny vs This, BF vs CoD, hmmmmm, seems we are still getting tons of FPS.

I wonder why no one wants to try and make an authentic -more realistic- FPS around special ops, like MoH2010, but of course it needs to be a high quality game and way better than MoH2010.

Can not wait what they have been cooking in these past years. Pretty clear to see that almost the whole Infinity Ward is there and that is good enough for me.

Not really, it's this and BF versus CoD by the looks of it. EA are taking MoH out of rotation, Respawn will probably have a game every other year, and BF will do the alternative year.

I'm not talking about allegiance to Respawn as a company by Xbox owners. I'm referring to the fact that Xbox owners tastes in games are very much in line with the type of experience that Respawn is likely to create.

Have you seen the sales compared to CoD/BF and MoH?

The general consumers care about multiplayer and skip nearly every cutscene. I still think BF should cut it's campaign and put more focus on it's multiplayer. DICE just sucks at them and I put the BF3 campaign on the level of MoH: Warfighter. It really was that bad.

EA will spend way more on marketing the game than the studio's development costs anyway. If it's all they hope for, it'll be well worth it.

I hope they bring something new to the genre like they did with COD4, because it seems like everyone is just trying to remake that game again.

While Infinity Ward did make CoD4 they also made Modern Warfare 2 which gives me pause as to what direction they will head with this. Also this could have a nice slot in the off years of Battlefield since MoH is dead.

I want a good single-player FPS campaign. I hope they can deliver, because obviously no one else in the industry gives a fuck and Valve is too busy making DOTA and TF2 hats.

Modified quake engine, or Frostbyte?

If it's a shooter then it'll be an engine that they can get running at 60fps on all platforms. I'm pretty sure that it was Vince and Jason that put a lot of value in making sure their game ran at 60fps, no matter the impact that it may have on the visuals.
