I like that move.

Nothing against having a female and/or black leads, but only as long as it's part of the original creative vision, and not to fit in some woke agenda.

And I think we can guess where those "request" came from, and why.

So yeah, good job Respawn, you based.

Now turn Cal into a jedi chad instead of the padawan twink he is, and we might be frens. Like imagine this lad turning into the new Kyle Katarn, that would be cool.

I'm all for diversity in games, the world is a colourful place... but why does Diversity seem to just mean Black people?

Where are the Indian or Asian leeds?

I don't particularly care about the race of a character (I don't project myself on them, same as with female leeds), but diversity is not just Black people.

Its a pitty excuse, because blacks were being enslaved.

Moves like these pisses off those community. Look at halo series. That asian character is getting alot of hate. It did the opposite of what the producers were trying to achieve.

Do it like mace wondu. Make them part of the story, but not shoe horn them, because of the status quote.

It's unfortunate that now whenever I hear "Diversity" it always just means "Black person" which in turn gives the impression of pandering to an audience.

And I hate that this is the impression I get... but honestly, where is the diversity in the diversity!

I'm a British Indian, non religious, not having brown protagonists doesn't bug me as like i mentioned, I don't project myself onto characters, I treat stories in games as characters stories and not mine.

However just always hearing people in uproar about a lack of black protagonists irks me because there are many other options out there.

Funnily enough I don't really see Indians or Asians make too much of a fuss about lack of their diversity in games, maybe we all just don't care as much lol. But it would be nice every now and again.

People have nothing to do. Its time for some nonsense words, which doesnt make a sense at all.

I enjoyed Fallen Order quite a bit and thought all the actors did their jobs very well, however the main protagonist was for all intents and purposes a very cookie-cutter character that could have been played by either a female or male of any race and it would not have changed my experience/perception of the game.

Slightly off topic, has anyone played Raji: An Ancient Epic?

Been debating grabbing it a few times, as I quite like the Indian theme as it's something a little different from the usual.

Wait what? Can we get an Indian protagonist or even Chinese? No? Okay, let’s move on.

"Diverse" means female or black. What a world.
Never mind racial groups skewed to half way around the world.

Where's all the Latino characters? A good chunk of games are made in the US where there's lots of Latin American folks.

Yet some reason in gaming, devs barely even make characters based on people right in their backyard.

Jedi: Fallen Order had an incredibly diverse cast.

Cameron Monaghan, who portrays the cookie-cutter Cal, does an incredible Joker in the show 'Gotham'. So it’s a shame that the direction and writing in Jedi: Fallen Order, didn’t elevate Cal into something more compelling. I found the supporting cast to be more interesting than him.

The character that stole the show for me was Trilla:

Played by Elizabeth Grullon:

This is what happens when the director has no vision and too many cooks in the kitchen.

Excellent point. What's a game with a Latino/Hispanic/Mexican protagonist? Just Cause?

I've seen an intervew with ex Respawn developer ''he is at Infinty Ward now'' and they ask him about changing the
sex of captain price and he seems to be confused from the question ..i am sure Respawn didn't refuse but they have
their reasons

Who knows. That Gears female character is Latino, and there will be more, but given how many Latinos there are in the US, they are right there with Native and East Indians for disproportionately low representation. Although I'm sure you get a bunch of Spanish speaking people in games involving drug busts or street thuggery.

Amazing thing too is when you look at every corporate photo (which game studios love doing in the US), it's almost all white people. You get a small number of Asians, but probably 90% white. Somehow these heavily white skewed American studios seem to sure have a lot of knowledge how to make Black characters in games, yet Asians, Latinos, and Native and East Indians are barely shown. I'll give them credit, Arabs get their fair share on stage.... as shooter villain terrorists.

Funny enough you never see Japanese companies do that corporate PR shot in the lobby of their office.

Queue "In the arrrrms of an angel" song.

Everyday hundreds of gaming "journalists" are being forced to scavenge and find stories, the problem is right now there just aren't any stories, so they have to resort to making "news" out of nothing....
For just pennies a day you can subscribe to whatever vapid paid version of the gaming website and you can help to partially feed one of these starving journos.

All the while the camera is cutting from one guy starching his head to another lady with thinking face, to another person and a few of them are crying as the AD goes on, they start clawing at their skin, one is about to cut themselves.

It's pretty ridiculous that they have to give a justification for having a white male character.
"Why wasn't the main character black or female?"
"Because we didn't fucking want to make them that way".

That should be all there is to it.

Normally I would say get bent, but the white male lead was crap. Would have been a better game with just about any other lead.

I agree Cal was rather bland but that was because of the writing, not because of his race or gender.
