Video games are getting the hard sell at the moment, with big-budget trailers, action-packed video clips and - in Microsoft's case - a big ol' box full of zombies.

It wasn't always this way. Back in the day, video games had to be pitched on more than just their graphics and brand names.

Man I remember that Donkey Kong Land advert. Those games were pretty fun all things considered.
