Return to Silent Hill Official Trailer - 1/26/26

If you want to see a "Silent Hill 2" movie, just go watch Jacob's Ladder. The series was clearly inspired by that movie, and a lot of how it plays out is actually more similar to SH2 than SH1 (the main character even dresses like James and his name is "Jacob Singer" instead of James Sunderland). On top of that the movie looks great and actually realistic unlike whatever that trailer was.
I have to say the first movie wasn't absolutely bad and it's the same director. About the characters look I really don't get it why it's so horrid, I suppose they think to attract more casual public but it's a punch in the balls of the fans of the game and the director who seems a big fan of Silent Hill should at least claim more respect for the brand by the same producers. But I guess he hasn't much voice there.

There always this wild over-focus on whether characters look like their game equivalents.

Believe me if you've seen his previous two SH films then the looks of the characters not fitting some imagined ideal will be problem number 39 on the list.

Small things like the directing, script, story, acting, camera work and visual effects to consider first.
The final boss what killed the original movie to me. It's like a promo to him %90 of the time and when he appeared, he's the least fearful character in the entire movie.

Isn't this what the SH tourists wanted Maria to look like in the SH2 remake?

Now they have it.

Maria should have looked like Maria. It's the only character they changed noticeably, showing her skin was too much for modern audience.

Also i don't remember anyone wanting Maria to have a wig.

This movie looks completely garbage. Like the first two "adaptations." People should have realized they were getting another turd SH movie since they're dumping it in January.

One of those movies I hate-watch on Netflix for ten minutes and get a good laugh. The whole look and feel is unintentionally hilarious. The wigs are a masterclass in sub-Instagram cosplay.

Pure Cinema.

Jame's actor looks like he'd lure me in an alley and stab me...... jfc why couldnt they just get the actors from the remake to play everyone like they did for Laura. Minus the cracked out face.

man I fucking hated the new James and Maria in the remake at first but by the end they both surpassed the original in every way. Sometimes change is rough upon first taste but after the full meal you understand if that makes sense.

And remember the director said he played the games and is very familiar with the material. He must have played some bootleg Turkish version of SH2.

He didn't got the money and wanted to make this adaptation anyway. That's the problem

We can judge him by making the decision of making a movie with no money, and even his direction, but not his love

I have high regard for Christophe Gans, because Crying Freeman and Brotherhood of the Wolf are really good movies (and the first Silent Hill was at least ok too), but this just looks bad.

See for me the remake was my first time playing SH2 so I can't compare. I loved the voice / animation acting in the remake especially with James. Coming from that and hearing this movie James's acting I'm like ehhhhh. This is coming from someone who actually loves the first Silent Hill movie.

I was one of the few people that thought the first movie was actually ... OK.

Sean Bean's character didn't die though, so I knew something was off.

I don't know why more and more people are saying the first movie was okay. It was awful, it's just that the second one was even worse and the first looked a little better by comparison. They all stink, and this one looks mega stinky.

People was saying the first movie was good since it was launched, and snd because it is. Nobody ever said that is great or whatever. It has the changing from the normal world to the nightmare for the first time ever, the scenario, and respects the story

It's sitting on a health 30 on Metacritic

There's no rating on the RT page but there's 8 reviews and they're all negative. So it sits at 0% after 8 reviews lol

Considering how the film has been handled, it's hard to really want to see it. The budget, the distribution, the marketing, it's all so odd. I'll definitely watch it at some point out of curiosity. But I'm not rushing to my local theater, lol.
