Not even surprised. Movie looked pretty bad just from the trailers. I really just want to see the next thing he's directing anyway.

Don't tell me that they discover that
they're brothers
or something like that.

One of the reviews says
Affleck's character has some kind of traumatic past and his little brother was his only friend
, so I'm going to say yes. Also, its the same director as Warrior.

I wonder how stereotypical the movie's depiction of autism/asperberger's is. I'm almost morbidly curious to find out

Stuckmann said he worked with Autistic people for years and they did a great job depicting it. They didn't 'Hollywood' it up.

How in the world someone could describe the simple ass plot of this film to be convoluted I dont know at all.

I thought it lacked a bit of story actually. And arbitrary evoking of BvS why, EW?

FUCK CRITICS /jksimmons

If you have to have a character explain everything and connect all the dots because you aren't a good enough writer to show an audience rather than spell out every angle to them, then it's a problem. That's the sign of a writer writing their story into a corner and needing an out as they try to be more clever than they actually are with their plot.

Is it the story/writing that seems be the biggest issue?

What about the cast/acting?

Yes. And the cast saves it/sells it even if their characters don't have much to them.
Except Lithgow who literally has nothing to do than constantly ask "what's going on?"

Haven't seen the movie, but I respect it more than the cinematic universe marketing movies and all the sequels/reboots/rehashes.

At least it tried something different and wacky.

Those were JK Simmons dots. Not, the main plot's dots. I agree though, that flashback was comically long I started laughing in the theater haha, but I think it somewhat paid off tho

I don't really care about the director so I was only seeing this in theaters if impressions were good

Oh well ill check it out on VOD. Still morbidly curious because I thought the premise was funny and it had a good trailer

What a strange career Affleck has had. He finally achieved redemption thanks to his directorial efforts and Gone Girl but with this, BvS, Suicide Squad and his movie with Timberlake, it's back to business as usual. I have no hope for Justice League but maybe Live by Night and The Batman will be the start of a new redemption cycle.

Affleck is the Sonic of cinema.

You guys writing in black bars need to spoil the movie already instead of talking around it. Spoiler markers are there for a reason and I'm not seeing any spoilers!

The fuck is going on in this movie?!?!

Sonic has never taken part in anything remotely close to the highs of Argo, Gone Girl, or Good Will Hunting.

Those dots had main plot elements as well.
Them hunting down The Accountant and explaining everything about who he is, so it's relevant. The thing is, all that hunting really wasn't needed. They're never even in the same room together, it's a whole B Plot that was unnecessary other than to explain things that we a) didn't really need to know or b) is irrelevant to our main plot. We already have a mystery plot (who is stealing money and whatnot and hunting them down) we don't need two or three more with flashbacks and montages to go into who so-and-so is and what they do, like Tambor who is wasting his time here and made me think of Arrested Development immediately with him being in jail like that. :).

It's working three/four plots and trying to connect them, and when it can't it just explains it all because that's easier. There's a better version of this story and movie that would strip a lot of that away and have an awesome 100 minute action thriller.

Affleck's movies may be up and down, but I think his performances have been pretty damn good. He's pretty good in this one too.

And Suicide Squad is hardly a showcase of Affleck for his movie. He's in it for two minutes max. Arguably the best two minutes in the movie.
