Revolution etch-a-sketch drawing confirmed.

It's the codename given to it by a developer from Climax and it stuck.

Oh... oh, I get it. For a while I thought it was some minor upgrade to the existing Cube hardware before we the next real system.

-insert easy joke answer here-

The USB ports are on front
I am overwhelmed by this visual evidence

I was going to post the exact same thing you bastard :(

That's highly unlikely, given how rarely people use the word 'overwhelm'.

Still, how about we start predicting what's behind that mysterious front panel! I say it's an adapter to link two revolutions together front-to-front in what's called the "plywood" formation. You can use it to output the game to two screens simultaneously and play DS games downloaded to the virtual console!

Is it me or does the Revolution sketch appear to bigger than the previously mentioned(vertically) 3 dvd stacks? Also it doesn't seem to be as wide as the images shown before?

Clarification to those who don't know:
-Revolution uses wireless WiFi like NDS, which means no need for built-in Ethernet
-Iwata said that there would be an USB Ethernet dongle for those who wanted the use an Ethernet connection
-Iwata also said that DVD's would not be playable out of the box & that there would be an USB DVD dongle
-The slim drive takes Revolution discs *and* GCN discs, meaning the front panel flap is not a GCN disc tray

Clarification needed:
-Which design is more final, this patent (with the USB on top of each other) or the Nintendo book pics with the USB side-by-side?
-The system seems very geared to be in it's vertical stand which begs me to wonder, what is there a vent on the bottom?
-What's up in the one pic where there's some buttons/ports on the top of the system (next to the controller GCN flaps)...couldn't be SD could it, as those usually use push in eject which would need a thumbnail engraving...and if it is/was for SD, what is the front panel flap for?
-Why is the front panel flap so big if all it's for is 1 (not 2, Nintendo only said 1) SD card? Possible secret being a HDD bay (an IBM MicroDrive would fit)?

DrGAKMAN owned:
-The USB is in the back afterall
-There is no built-in SVGA port

did he ever say usb dongle? i only remember 'internal attachment' or something.

more vents means more power (say it like lunch lady doris...testicles, iron, etc). maybe the stand is a sophisticated cooling system with even more vents.

you realize the flap is only like 3"x.5" right? when did they say 1? and yes a microdrive would fit, easily really. do you even know how small they are?

and stop saying svga. just say vga. or stop living in the past and maybe say dvi at least.

Still...the hostility is strong in you bro., take a Zanex or somethin' dawg!

Okay DVI it is then. He didn't say USB, but what else would it be and what else would the USB officially be used for? More vents are a good thing...just wondering why on the bottom? In fact...I think the bottom is pretty mysterious...as is the stand. Cooling function in the stand...ha...you're starting to sound like me now. Yeah the flap isn't huge, yeah nintendo.com says only 1 SD card slot (why need two?) and yes I know how big an IBM MicroDrive is...just 'cos I put question marks doesn't mean I don't think it's possible, it's more I'm questioning whether they'd include a MicroDrive Bay or not. If they did, that would be awesome, even a small 4GB MicroDrive would be sweet for MMO's.

Oh Shog...I knew it would have vents too! What do you think about the ventilation on the bottom? And what do you think will be under the front panel flap besides 1 SD Card slot since we now know the 2 USB ports are in the back? Bestow your wisdom!

IT NEEDS EVEN MORE VENTS!!!!

Is that a photoshop or something, a vent on the bottom of the case nearly the size of the console.

no, it's real. the vent on the bottom helps the unit hover

Nop. You will lose.

The reason is that Revolution has a carcase made of Magnesium alloy.

Is just curious how you have disappeared in the post about the Nintendo Book for University Graduated people in Japan.

Dude, it might be because I'm right now loaded up on Nyquil, but I have no idea what you just said. What's a carcase? What Nintendo book post? I'm feeling woozy again... *slugs down more Nyquil*

IGN have provided their obligatory POS article on the issue

http://revolution.ign.com/articles/688/688570p1.html

POS indeed. I remember hearing a while back ago that the output was gonna be digital. Then, more recently the back of the system was shown in the Nintendo book (though with the USB ports side-by-side instead of stacked) before these patents were found.

The "???" hole is most likely optical audio out or power connection for the sensor bar. I'm gonna say optical audio out.

IGN said:
We can clearly see a power port located to the left and directly next to it a component video output. This output is exactly the same as the one on GameCube, which suggests that Revolution might support the current cable.
No it isn't. The Gamecube component outlet is bevelled on top, the outlet shown is bevelled on the right side only.

That too...

Something else, the small hole (above the digital out) on these sketches aren't in the Nintendo book pics? I wonder which one (the Nintendo book or this patent) are more recent/accurate?

Comparing everything...

0001- Final Casing
-smaller overal design
-bigger lip to the slot loading disc drive
-power light on the Power button
-2 buttons to the left, 1 to the right
-smaller front panel flap
-ventilation in the back & bottom (possibly to prevent melting of vertical stand?)
-final foot placement for horrizontal & vertical possitions
-added Optical Audio Output
-0001.6 note the "plate" nearer towards the front of the system, what is this for?

0002- Prototype Casing Rough Sketch
-very rough, no details, no foot placement

0003- Prototype Casing Detailed
-0002 sketch with some details & foot placement added
-0003.7 shows GCN flaps open

0004- System With Vertical Stand
-0004.6 top veiw looking into the stand with the system slightly pulled out, but what's with the mumbo-jumbo towards the front of the stand?
-0004.7 again, what's with the mumbo-jumbo towards the back (in this veiw) of the underside of the stand?
-0004.6 & the front "plate" of 0001.6 seem to match up in possition when the system is in the vertical stand...does this mean something???

0005- Prototype Casing Rough Sketch
-no difference between this and 0002, except there's a line 30 in the patent?

0006- The Vertical Stand
-no mumbo-jumbo details like in 0004.6 & 0004.7
-no cords or ports going into the stand...it seems to be just a stand
