These are so fun to watch as a sort of mid-2000s time capsule. Youtube has a ton of them. I don’t agree with a lot of their reviews and/or find them shallow, but their style is refreshingly distinct from modern day publications & youtubers. Many of these episodes unfortunately have poor resolution, but are still watchable. 2008-ish is when I stopped watching since finding videogame content online (news, videos, discussion) had become so much easier than tuning into a cheesy tv show.

Also goddamn Morgan Webb was so hot.

Ahh, yes, I to remember when videogame content was fun to watch and actually funny. Now Adam Sessler is the biggest smacked ass I've ever seen.

He brought back G4 which could have been sick, just to make it all about some lesbian chick that looks like a trans. No hot chicks, no funny jokes, biggest second hand.

Even back then I did not like that adam sessler guy, but yeah it was def better than what it tried to be recently.

Jirard did a podcast recently explaining that he wanted to make it more like classic Xplay, but the other hosts didn’t quite want to play ball. He also wasn’t fond of the Frosk moment. Probably one of the few folks who had a brain at the reboot and genuinely cares.

I loved G4 back in the day. It was everything great with being a geek, nerd, and gamer. Everything was hype, everyone was mocked, people made dark jokes and pervy jokes. It was a time of people generally having fun and not trying to find offense at every little thing.

I will still frequently watch these sometimes while bored.

It's such a breath of fresh air compared to how things are now. I love how they often flat-out insult their audience and how un-PC everything was. The style of editing, writing, filming, etc... It's just so much better than everything on YouTube, as long as you're not wanting anything in-depth.

There's definitely some stuff that wouldn't even come close to airing today, such as the bit about what games the Enron (I think) guys could play in prison, complete with a "comedic" depiction of prison rape.

It was the only show I ever used to watch on G4 and I miss it.

This stuff almost makes you sad to realize how much “fun” everything was back then. You could get through a video game review without hearing social commentary or someone making a case for socialism vs capitalism. Magazines had ads that were (gasp) overt appeals to heterosexual male gamers. Sure, some of it was cringey even back then, but it was just so much more chill.

I like how Morgan Webb took a super wholesome direction in life. She declined to be in a Playboy shoot, she got married, I think has kids, and doesn't do social media. Adam Sessler, however...

I watched an episode of Portal the other day, haha. I used to love that one.

I hear you - I had been watching Adam Sessler since the days of ZDTV...but it is really difficult to go back to this knowing what a shit head he is.

I think she works for a game dev these days....

Xbox One Launch year Sessler was the best. He just had that shill money from Microsoft and could afford the finest of coke.

Highlight must have been E3 of that year where he’s completely out of it.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Morgan Webb was hot
Morgan Webb is still hot

X-Play of Olde: We exist to be easy on the eyes to you. I keep getting praise online because I am MORE bangable than Frosk. I'm not going to talk about all the camera crew and writers in the studio, and I'm definitely not going to refer to them by their stupid inside joke nicknames. If you don't like it, kinda sucks to be you, because we're the only ones doing this! Here's Olivia Munn deepthroating a ball park frank!

I miss Xplay and the G4 of old so fucking much.

She might be at Rob Pardo's new studio, and I say might because I'm skeptical that they'll ever actually put anything out and their website doesn't seem to be updated regularly (she's listed on the staff page though). They've been around for 7 years at this point (it was founded in 2016), yet has nothing to show for it, they haven't updated any of their social media pages in 2 years, and their blog doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
