One of the best things about Prometheus was the Weyland Industries viral website. A lot of work went into that and I loved the timeline that was built.
I hope Covenant expands on that and the website is updated.
I'm anticipating this for Covenant. I spent so much time following Prometheus' viral materials and engaging with different communities over it. The discussions around Prometheus prior to release were so fun; I hope Covenant gets marketing worthy of generating enthusiasm among even apathetic and disgruntled Alien fans.

I hope they mention how/why Weyland and Yutani merged. I remember one of the viral vids for Prometheus was Yutani hacking into a private message to Weyland himself from Shaw. It might be nothing more than a business news blurb but it would be cool to see in the timeline.
I'm confused. Is this going to be a direct sequel to Prometheus or not? That movie left me with a few questions I would like to have resolved. I wanted to know more about the Engineers and such. I thought it was interesting. I've seen enough Xenomorph's or w/e for awhile.
It's a direct sequel in the sense that it takes 10 years after Prometheus (20 years before the events of Alien) and David is still around, but it's probably not the movie some of us assumed - the Shaw and David road trip.
Official Synopsis said:
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers a dark world whose sole inhabitant is David (Michael Fassbender), the synthetic survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
There's been no official explanation yet as to what happens with Elizabeth Shaw, and Ridley has made a comment that makes it sound like Noomi Rapace is out, but I feel that could be misdirection to protect her surprise return at some point.
I agree with you. I'm disappointed in Ridley Scott backtracking on the Prometheus saga not having traditional Xenomorphs (he strongly felt they were played out up until recently). I thought Prometheus' creatures did a good job evoking what I found so fascinating and surprising about the Facehugger/Chestburster/Xeno concepts in the original movie. In general I'm pretty ambivalent about the Prometheus saga becoming "Alien" again.
And in reference to what you said, presumably light Covenant spoilers from the set:
Engineer structures (photographed evidence) and Prometheus creatures (hearsay) make a return, so Prometheus still "happened." Look it up if you want to explicitly spoil yourself.
I've got to agree with this point. Ridley Scott has to take the ultimate responsibility for the turd of a movie that was Prometheus. Yes, the script was poor. But how Ridley failed to realise this given his level of experience in film making is beyond me. He could quite easily have gone back to Damon detailing issues and suggestions to fix them. Instead it seemed he was more interested in the visuals (which were gorgeous) and forgot about the characters and storyline. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, but I've got to say I anticipated this film more than The Force Awakens. And I've never felt so let down.
