I cannot understand the love for this song.

Wouldn't be suprised if it is. BTW, I absolutely LOVE this track. Love it. LOVE IT.

I actually have the original almost Jay-Zless cut. I do not know where to find it but I can email to ya if you want to.

I guess this thread wouldnt be complete without the obligatory "I used to like her back in the day when she hadnt sold out" except vixian claims he's never heard of her.

Kindly exit to the left dont let door hit you on your way out and stop derailing the new hotness that is rihanna with wyclef. creole and whatever else youre going on about.

lol... you're a pube.

The one track that's been consistently in my playlist. Amazingly enough, its a song so awesome to work out to in the gym :lol

Hello.

I read some requests for the version without Jay-Z, so I edited Jay-Z out of the track. I'm rad like that.

I have just read the TOS and believe that it is okay for me to link to the file for those that want to download it.

am i the only one who does not mind jay z on it? or even like his part? it doesnt really interfere with the song and its just more of a intro...and flows in well with the "J".."A"...

Pretty much. It's soooo easy to ignore, since it's not like it's during the middle of the song.

damn that is catchy. She's hot as hell too.

I like the song, but does anyone agree with me that she is just a terrible singer?

Not so bad in this song, but her previous singles have had terrible vocals.

Hehe "Push Up On Me" sounds exactly like a mid-90s freestyle song. Kinda' nice, for people who enjoy that.

Impressions on the album?

Don't Stop The Music, which I can't believe has not been mentioned by anyone, is the breakout hit on the album. I absolutely love it. Hope it makes a big splash on radio if it's ever released as a single.

Push Up On Me is pretty great too, I've been basically playing the first three songs over and over again, I love 'em.

Breakin' Dishes is OK. Dunno why everyone likes that one so much. Feels too repetitive to me. Shut Up and Drive is pretty good though.

Anyone else?

Oh, and people who complain about her not putting Creole in her music...please. As if that is necessary for a pop album.

The song Don't stop the music sounds like another song. I can't think of it. Not the beat which is sampled from the Michael Jackson song but the chorus. The part where she says "I want to take you away". The flow or something sounds like another song which song is it?

Umbrella's a great song-- however... the best song from that album is hands down "Please Dont Stop the Music", its an awesome dance, workout, car trip song. But pretty much everything these days coming from JayZ's record company, which she belongs in, samples... originals are hard to come by these days.

I don't normally go for pop and rnb, but this song is my secret love. No idea about the sample...

Same. The music I listen to rarely makes it onto the radio, let alone No. 1 in the charts, but despite the fluffy lyrics, I love this song.

Probably has something to do with my permanent puzzlement/fascination with the Caribbean.

I don't know why, but I think Rihanna is repulsive. In the video there are some scenes with a close up of her face as she sings.. I actually feel ill when I see it. I cannot fathom why.

Sharp... hair?

she's a babe, so even if she just stole a song from beethoven and made a video of her mopping the floor for half an hour it would still rule.

Umbrella has been no.1 in the UK singles charts for 10 weeks. 10 WEEKS! Says alot about the song, its great. Its just been knocked off the top this week by "Way I are" (another great song) by Timberland. My faith in the singles chart has been restored.

Despite your obnoxious tone in this thread, I think you're on to something in the sense that Rihanna is starting to feel increasingly more "manufactured".

For example, the video for Shut Up And Drive feels like total teeny-bopper fodder. I guess you can argue that Rihanna is still a teen, but she felt more sultry and mature on her work circa Pon de Replay.

Still, Don't Stop The Music is a fantastic song.

Yep and it was number 1 for 7 weeks here in America.

Rihanna's "Umbrella" begins a seventh week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, having successfully fended off Shop Boyz' "Party Like a Rockstar,"

That sounds real close to some Dateline type shit.

I've listened to Umbrella(remix) so much over the past several weeks that I want to vomit. Great song...but hearing it every 5 minutes makes my ears bleed.

Oh, and Jay Z's part is pretty damn cool.
