I have no particular interest or knowledge in Riot Games, but it is nice when game companies are willing to promote healthy, positive things.
The website -- https://headspace.org.au/ -- seems like a friendly and standard community mental health resource. If this helps kids learn more about mental health and gives them tools to cope with depression, anxiety, confusion, etc then I don't see why this is a bad thing.
headspace CEO, Jason Trethowan, said the collaboration with Riot Games will undoubtedly help the League of Legends community learn valuable self-help skills to maintain good mental health and wellbeing.
“For many young people, recognising what good physical health looks like is easy. It can be much harder for them to reflect on their mental health,” Mr Trethowan said.
“There are a number of easy self-help techniques and strategies that can be incorporated into a young person’s day-to-day life that can make a significant impact to how they’re feeling.”
Riot Games Oceania Country Manager, Daniel Ringland, said when the 2018 headspace round launched, Riot were inspired to see so many in the community engage in open and supportive dialogue around mental health.
“This year, Recall and Restore will support players, friends and family with tools, tips and information on how to maintain a healthy headspace. It is important that we all continue to destigmatise the mental health challenges that many of us face and spread the message that it’s ok to ask for help and that help is available,” he said.
