RIP, Thriller is one of the greatest, if not the greatest albums, ever. So many memories of playing that LP when I was a kid and to this day I absolutely love it (along with Bad and Off the Wall)
 
They airlifted his body to a helipad closer to the coroners office and are currently placing his body in a van headed to the coroners....

Yeah I took it abit seriously, my bad, but you never know on the internet and all. After all ,we have all of 4chan making a mockery of this. i don't think making fun of dead people is funny at all. Let other people do it, but don't do it to get "back at them".

Exactly, couldn't agree more. His music was legendary. It doesn't matter if you respect the man or not. Hell, i certainly don't, but you gotta admire his accomplishments.

In all seriousness, was Michael Jackson the most famous musical act of all time? Can anybody think of a bigger death (non political), ever?
 
Honestly, This really has been making me feel sick.

From the past 15 years of, LOL Micheal Jokes people... Followed with this remorse/pity. All these pity stories how this is going affect their life, Stopping of the world media for a pop idol, All these celebrity take ins on it, etc

I decided to pop on MTV, and they have Fat Joe calling in about how he is gangster rapper and how this is one of his top 3 worst days ever.

Why didn't they airlift him to the hospital in the first place? He was too far gone?

i'm 28 as well, i grew up with "beat it" and "thriller" in a part of the world where he basically was a legend (south east asia), i mean we all ran around an dmimicked beat it as 6/7 year olds...

I'm not your "bro" and I didn't "correct" anything. I just mentioned his achievement of changing the world of music. Changing the world of music/entertainment does have an affect/change on the world at large and human society.

Whether you choose to downplay the role of entertainment/music is your choice. I'm still sticking by my opinion that you and anyone else who downplays the importance of entertainment and music are sad individuals.

And I didn't say you disrespected the guys death, I said you downplayed his achievements in his RIP topic, which you are still doing and that makes you an ass. Maybe you should seriously think about your posting style/opinions and why you always seem to get into confrontations/debates around here. But at least you ending the argument shows you're capable of learning something.
 
My mom just called to check in with me. She said he was "the Elvis of your generation".

She's rather surprised that he died so young, since she's about the same age.

Born in 1991, 18, I'm still really sad about this. I never grew up listening to his music, and in fact I remember growing up and mixing up Michael Jackson's and Michael Jordan's names until 3rd grade. The first Michael Jackson song I heard was the Alien Ant Farm cover of Smooth Criminal.

It wasn't until 13 and Michael Jackson started to meltdown in the media I actually bothered to look into he is, well, was. I didn't care too much about thriller but the original smooth criminal, God. It was perfect, no sense but it was perfect. I started listening to his music and more and his was always the most dynamic to play in Audiosurf.

Either way, it bothers me that the thin line between genius and insanity was crossed in his later years. He had so many great achievements tacked to his name it's sad to see him go at around the lowpoint of his life. Seeing a great man crumble like that...

RIP Michael

The reason it says he owned half is that he combined all of his music (including the Beatles) with Sony's entire catalog. He owns half of Sony's music and they own half of his.
 
MJ will always be remembered for his music. Many of his songs are amazing classics.
Unfortunate that he had so many problems with public image.
 
I'm 31 years old and was born and grew up in California when he was at the height of his popularity. Remembering back to those days right now gets me a little misty eyed. Regardless of his personal quirks and issues the man was so gifted and had such a gentle and fragile soul. His music is timeless and has inspired so many, it is my deepest wish he can find the peace and happiness in the next life that eluded him in this one.

How is it cold? His public image has spiraled downwards for years, his star achievements obscured by court cases and various troubles, and now he's again a universally celebrated star. Bad for him, good for his career.
 
Woke up to an sms about it from my dad. Didn't believe it was true till I turned the TV on in a half-asleep haze.

Looks like I gotta grab a drink for him.
