Damn. Though things went awry later in life, he made some amazing music and was a part of growing up for a lot of folks. Hard to believe.

Also, sad - but not surprising - to see a usual handful of GAFers who desperately want some attention by shitting on a death thread. One day you kids will grow up a little.

They're not jokes. I'm just disgusted at the massive hypocrisy over the people proclaiming him "a hero" and sticking their heads in the sand. Were you there for O.J. too?

Save some all of that disgust for yourself and your nonsensical comparisons.

Is it impossible to recognize the better aspects of someone's life even whether or not they are guilty of something?

Light candles in his honor.

Btw it's impressive how fast this thread keeps growing. Maybe even faster than the E3 conferences? (I know this is way bigger news, but you guys know the e3 conferences threads are huge).

If you are going to post that, why don't you just stay the fuck away? Idiot.

What difference would that make? He's someone's relative and means far more to many than 99.99% of the world will.

Show some fucking respect or get the fuck out.
I am showing respect. I'm just annoyed at the knee-jerk people like you who are cursing people for sharing their opinions. Last I checked this was a place for off-topic discussion, not a Michael Jackson fan board.

The man was what he was. You have to take the good with the bad. We can't ignore the bad just because he recently passed.

damn man just heard this here @ work...He was a legend!
ahhh the good old 80s!! :(

NO! No body knows about Elvis in the part of the world I grew up and most of the world outside of US/EU. And every kid on the street knew MJ, even they didn't understand his songs (as they were in english) but would dance on his songs.

Michael Jackson was hugely popular in elementary school.

You could always tell who the Michael Jackson fans were, in Glenview IL, because they always talked about his concerts, brough his albums to school, tried to immitate him, etc.

Fuck.

RIP Michael.

Well how many of the people yelling "RIP" were shitting on MJ back in the molestation threads, I'll go look and report back.

It's just ridiculous that people seem to think that you have to show an outpouring of emotional love to respect the dead whereas a discussion would be far more respectful.

Probably the most famous person in the world, and one of the most talented singers/entertainers of all time, his personal issues aside. To anyone in the 25-40 age range who grew up with him, this is huge news. Shocking. RIP.
