I don't even want to read this thread in fear it would infuriate me. My dad was the very first manager of the Jackson 5 outside of Joe and my uncle was part of the band having played the drums for them. They kept in touch with many of the Jackson family through all of these years after leaving their hometown and they are both truly broken up right now. They remember Micheal since he was small boy.

The media vultures are already surrounding his warm body ready to pounce and do anything they can to tarnish his memory and accomplishments as a music artist. It really is sickening to watch.

Shoot I don't like this version of the Smooth Criminal video as much as the extended version.

Oh c'mon, it's just some harmless humor. It's not as bad as facebook where I have like 6 different people post status updates saying stuff like "....finally kids can go out of their homes" or "ding dong the perv is dead!!". Now that's a bit harsh even for me.

man i remember having moonwalker on vhs lol

it's been so long since i've seen it, when this song was in the movie wasn't he like trying to protect some girl? and afterwards didn't he turn into a robot?

It's a dark day in music....

one of the all time greats has left us.
He had his problems outside of music, but nothing can take away from his legendary status as a musician and performer. He single-handidly changed the way concerts were done as well as dance.

The dude made THRILLER.... that should be enough to solidfy his legacy.

I think Michael will have the number 1 album in the country again next week.

He's already making a dent on Amazon.com and Itunes best sellers list

If I remember correctly, you aren't very old...For people like me (late-30's), his music framed our lives and our formative years...It doesn't matter if you liked his music or not! He was huge and nothing today compares. I don't think you could understand...
Seconded. Those who grew up with him in the late 70s/early 80s have a much different view on this.

I doubt they will show the 10 minute versions of any of his videos..

Yes I know.
I'm not really mad.

This man defined the late 70's and 80's for much of the living planet. Truly an achievement.

Listening to Off the Wall now...:(

Michael had definitely taken a turn for the weird in recent years, but his Jackson 5 stuff and his Thriller-era work can't be beat.

I remember watching his interview with Martin Bashir a few years ago. The interview was obviously skewed to play up MJ's weirdness, but there was a great moment when Michael busted out some dance moves. After so many years of the media focusing on his...eccentricities, it was easy to forget that the guy was an amazing entertainer. I actually got a chill watching him move again.

I think I'll toss in some Space Channel 5 and rescue Space Michael one more time.

late 80s/Early 90s here.. he was still iconic and turning out a lot of hits then too.

R.I.P.
His music was a good part of what made me appreciate good music in general early on. It sucks knowing that someone who tried so hard to stay young died just like that.
