Rock Band £180 in UK

ironically, i come back from the states on May 23rd. I would just buy the PS3 version out there and bring it home, but then I would have to go through customs to declare it and I wouldnt wanna open that can of worms.

Shouldn`t really be a problem, even paying the tax you'll still be way ahead.

I wrote this in the other Rock Band Europe thread, but now that I've learned the price of the game I think it's worth posting again:

Nice post, it's true, we get raped hard from time to time, but this is the worst I've ever known it to be. Most prices are constantly higher, but it's usually the same amount higher, but this is far far higher, to the point of being actually offensive.

I know some people are going to still buy it, and love it no doubt, but this is just wrong. EA are complete bastards but I'm shocked they would push it this far.

I still think it has to be a misunderstanding, the £130 instrument edition must include the game, I can't believe they would dare not.

has anyone confirmed if the DLC price points are the same world wide?

(would be odd if they weren't one thing MS have been consistent with is one price point strategy for DLC)

Couldn't agree more

US

360 Premium = $350 (??? Still this price ???)
Rock Band = $179

UK

360 Premium = £199 (RRP, can be had for £180)
Rock Band = £180

Price differential in US - approx 50%
Price differential in UK? - 0-10% :lol :lol

This shit's gotta stop, who do we complain to? EA? MS?

I have Japanese 360 so hopefully the Asian version will be lot be lower priced or they got no chance at all getting my money.

I still do not own GH so maybe I should get that..

I hate you EA :(

Anyone knows a good site to import the game from ? (not VGP.ca because the shipping cost is more than the price of the game :()

haha one of my buds who isn't a massive gamer but loves Guitar Hero and bought a 360 for Rock Band, just called me to laugh about the price of Rock Band.

If this price is knocking out people like him, its gona be a really tough sell.

My hype for this game has been dwindling of late, but now its completely gone. Fuck that, no way I'm paying £180! I'm sure some retailers will do deals on it, maybe be able to get the game for £40, but that's still way too much.

It's shite that we pay more for games, but that's partly to do with the exchange rate and I've come to terms with it. But EA are just taking the piss.

Btw I'm a little dissapointed noone has posted the ONE BILLION DOLLARS Dr. Evil jpeg.

GAF you failed me.

I think you misread the news, it costs £179.99.

Here is what needs to be done.

1) Don't buy this. Buying it is an implicit agreement that you're okay with accepting this sort of delay, pricing, and anti-consumer behaviour.

2) Let the developer and publisher know that you're not buying it. Get an account on the Rock Band forums and the EA forums, and state clearly and politely that you're not buying it, and why you're not buying it.

3) Contact customer service at EA by email (anyone got the address?) to let them know the same.

If it isn't made clear to EA and Harmonix that this is unacceptable, they will assume that they got away with it.

Well, you'll still have to pay for the very expensive shipping, and considering the size of the package there is no way it's going to pass customs with no charges.

If people do this one, please consider doing me a favor and suggest they port Left4Dead to PS3, they'll do it if there is demand, you know you want it PS3 owners.

this still isnt official, can people keep your knickers untwisted untill the official announcement is made :lol then, commence EA mockery

There's no reason to believe that Eurogamer are wrong. They tend to be quite accurate and if they say they've checked with EA themselves then there's no reason to disbelieve them.

Buy me an import PS3 version and we have a deal.

Uh.. that's marked as "Used", why would anyone want to buy a used product for only £10 less than the brand new one?
Oh sorry, I didn't see that, I just used the search thing on the site, I didn't know they sold used stuff actually.

The £129 price is correct, and it includes the game...according to my source.

£130 including the game, while still overpriced, wouldn't be obscene.

Hopefully either that is what was intended all along, or the immediate backlash is enough to convince EA to pretend that it was.

Just when you think that EA is trying to do something nice, they turn out to be more evil than before. :lol

Holy crap at the Euro-wallet pillaging. Is this the price point where the 360 software buying machine finally breaks? How could the price go up with the currency exchange? :lol

You know...I have two guitars. And a USB mic.

I could just buy the game and drums for £100ish. And I would have always bought Drum Hero at that price.

This guy states otherwise:

hate to do this.. but after receiving the german pm for rock band, i contacted ea and asked about the prices and the ign story, here is the answer:

Die Instrumente werden separat erhältlich sein, ebenso die Software. Darüber hinaus wird es eine Instrument Edition geben, die Gitarre, Schlagzeug und Mikrofon enthält.

Software: 69,99€
Gitarre: 79,99 €
Schlagzeug: 89,99€
Instrument Edition: 169,99 €

so, instruments and software sold seperately

I can't read german, but I was getting a very strong "EA are cunts" vibe from it.

But surely instrument edition includes the game.. SURELY?
I doubt it, if the guitar and drums together are more then the instrument edition, and that's without the mic, the pack won't include the game.
