Trying to compose music in Guitar Hero WT and the sequels could have told them in a heartbeat that the lag and multiplayer aspect weren't going to work.

LOL. Sorry. I had a feeling this was coming when I made the comment. As I posted it, I was thinking, "He is probably here on GAF." Yeah, it bit me in the ass. And I have watched most of the videos so far. That is a lot of stuff you got in two days too.
It's all good man. I definitely have an annoying face, that's for sure. But I am super passionate about everything I do here. Maybe that comes off strong sometimes. Plus, you can't please everybody no matter what you do.

I haven't visited IGN regularly in years. Just the once or twice every few months to dip in for something. I think I have visited IGN more since the RB4 stuff went up than I have in the last couple of years.So...when do we get gameplay and soundtrack info?

Yeah tomorrow is a feature about Gigs. A mistake on our part got that pushed out early.

Will there be a Q&A by the way during the stream? I'd love to know about some things that will probably be ignored (Because lets face it, they only apply to dumb people like me that bought every Rock Band piece of DLC going) but are a huge concern to me, like will the 2952 song limit be upped/removed since we are on the new consoles etc.
We'll be taking questions for Harmonix (who will be here with us) on Twitter during the stream. If you don't get your (very good) question answered there, though, we'll be doing an AMA-style thing with Harmonix towards the end of the month.

Not having any knowledge of the code/development of this game, I still think I can confidently say that limit is going to be gone.
I wish that start time was an hour later haha. I'm going to miss the first 45m (which might be all of it). ;(

An intresting concept , that unfinished game , but i have to agree on the wish fullfillment POV.
It's a good idea , but i'm not sure i would have bought that game.
As a separate mode of RB3 , however , i might have got it , if only to mess with it with friends.

That limit was due to RAM. So it's almost 100% sure it's going to be much, much higher in RB4.
Rock Band Blitz can already load more songs than RB3, but Blitz also caches less information per song, so that's why blitz's limit is higher.
Thanks for all of this - the RB4 coverage/behind the scenes stuff has been far more valuable to me than normal previews. I've been returning to the site to check for updates.
With this and GameSpot's Witcher 3 documentary series previews have become a lot more interesting as of late.
Never really played Blitz outside of loading it up to get the song export pack, good to know

And it wasn't a song limit. It was a 'DLC item' limit. So every Expert Upgrade of a song counted against that limit.
We're pretty close according to this quote from this very page. I'm excited for it, this Friday. I hope they are good songs. I really hope for a good tracklist. No idea about the actual size of the tracklist.

I kid. In all seriousness, i'm super excited to see what you guys have to show come Friday. I expect 5 songs that will be diverse, awesome, and will always end in "Where is the Muse?"
This is still my favorite PSP game of all time, RPGs and Resistance be damned.
I keep aiming on going back to it some day, at the time though, I was more excited about finally getting Cult of Personality in my copy of Rock Band 3
That's not true, it was only songs themselves, I tried deleting a few pro upgrades I reached the limit the first time, but it didn't make a difference

Legacy DLC really is the trump card.
And, Ryan_IGN, I may have missed it in some of the videos, but does Harmonix address what their planned schedule for DLC is going forward? I know going back to weekly DLC releases is probably just a dream now, but any news on what they want to do for future songs would be divine.
And I know there are Harmonix employees that lurk here as well, so maybe they can chime in as to when they will drop that news.

I for one like the passion you're demonstrating. It's obvious that you're a fan of rhythm games, and are looking as much forward as the rest of us for Rock Band 4.

The best idea Guitar Hero introduced after Harmonix's departure was allowing multiple people to play the same instrument in a song. Sure, allowing it with random online matches got annoying, but at least in local multiplayer, it felt like a no-brainer.

So I had all the games on 360, but now I'm on PS4... as I understand your song portfolio won't be transferrable cross-platform.
So then, I'm assuming I could just hit eBay for RB 1, 2 & 3 - even though I won't play them on my PS3 (no instruments), and then transfer the library of stock games across when I get RB 4 on the PS4?

RB1 needs the disc and "song export key" from the PSN srore .
RB2 can't officially be exported anymore and needs a new copy. You may get lucky asking EA for a code
RB3 export is unconfirmed

Also, agree with toymachine, song is great on drums.
Depending on how much DLC you have, it may legit be cheaper to just buy an XB1 (it is for me), but if you're not married to it, the RB1/2/3 thing would work... if you can get an RB2 key, which seems to be a challenge, and RB3 export is a thing.
