Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

Anybody wanna make bets on the news?

My realistic guess is that we get news on dlc plans.

My dream guess is that we get news on RB3 export or online play.

I'm betting that it's realistically just that we can stream gameplay, with no archive.

I'm hoping the craziest announcement we get is an explanation of how legacy DLC downloads work.

"All cover versions are upgraded to master tracks."

"The studio version of 'Ridin' the Storm Out' will be replaced by the live version."

"'Gypsy Queen' will be added to 'Black Magic Woman.'"

Even better

All master tracks will be replaced by Covers

What if they announce Green Day Rock Band 2? Oh shit

Pink Floyd: Rock Band
as performed by Foo Fighters

is it confirmed that the rock band blitz songs are playable in RB4?
if that's the case ill just buy it right now

Yes. Remember to download AND LAUNCH the game. The songs are only added to your account when you launch the game.

All of Blitz's songs are DLC anyway, so yeah, it's all safe.

The first title update will come on December 8th, social/competitive features and getting tracks to scroll at different speeds, plus some more stuff.

ok so nothing really so far outside of patch in dec?

they're talking about the freestyle guitar solos but after witnessing it live at PAX it's by far the least exciting feature to me since it essentially just butchers the song in the worst way

fuck you for ruining metropolis pt 1, person at pax

Sooooo... That's it

I feel like it'd be a way bigger announcement if you were already playing the game. Like, "this is when the first major title update happens" is big, if you're way down in it and already see a need for some quality of life improvements.

as much of a mega rock band fan I am and love all the exposure this game is getting, why is it EVERY SINGLE reveal for every game sound so awful? Is it the settings for doing it on stage? Is it nerves? The twitch con stream is tough to watch people pretty much just flub everything hard...one band after another...

Most likely, it'll just be confirming some DLC coming in the first few weeks. Likely the contents of the Van Halen track pack, or maybe something like RBN compatibility or RB3 export.

please let it be muse: rock band

I imagine a lot of it is calibration.

Calibration sucks.

Calibration sucks.

Calibration looked really off on the drum chart at the start, It's hard, especially when working with multiple delays.

Although stuff like the girl on bass not knowing to strum, or the guy who didn't know about the bass pedal on drums was a bit iffy, they should probably take all players aside before and give them a quick run down on the game

I noticed that too. And yeah, it is very difficult. I remember reading someone at HMX saying that calibrating for gigs like this was easily the worst part of the job.

To be fair, it seems like these guys opted into it, you'd expect them to have a little experience :P

Yeah, I'm sure auto calibration helps, but eh, still takes alot of time to get "perfect", and in situations like this, especially shared stages you don't have time, one thing I would really like to see if the ability to calibrate each instrument differently in the future, would make running multiple display set ups alot easier.

Yeah, maybe if something similar is done in the future sign ups could ask about experience, if someone hasn't really played before take them off to one side and explain things, just make the overall stream smoother.

I got rock band 3 set up at bowling alley / bar sized venues myself with perfect calibration so I'm starting to not buy that excuse after like 6 or 7 game releases.

It really just looks like they throw everybody on expert whether they are ready or not including thier own devs.

Oh well, it doesn't matter now that the game is almost out but It is just an embarrassing thing about series that has bothered me for a long time.

Without knowing yours or their set ups, I imagine most of the problems they had were down to working with multiple displays (using past experience as a base for their set up)

They were only throwing the vocals on expert I believe, the instruments were free to choose, I saw a couple playing easy.

Oh badass you don't need RB1 disc now to export songs? I've been looking everywhere for my copy since RB4 was announced lol.

This has got to be a sure thing.
Not really, its been beaten to death in this thread so I don't really want to have the convo again but... Online Multiplayer was a small niche in the Rock Band world. Face-Off and Pro FO were much smaller niches and weren't included in RB3 because of this. I expect online co-op before these come out but who knows. My guess is that it will be score chase features but I hope I'm wrong and that's not all.

"So first feature update comes in December, adds assorted "competitive and social" features including track speeds customizable for individual players."

competitive sure sounds like a score ranking system.
social could be something as simple as making it so you can go to the harmonex forums and discuss songs with a click of a button on a song.

either way you would be best to not hope for serious online modes if they were delivering online play they would be saying that or at least be saying that it is in the works, but they haven't been.

its been so long that I honestly cant remember what I have exported...other than Green Day, I know I exported that one. Is there a way to check without having rock band 3? Would any of that show up in transaction history on 360?

Ok weird question:

If I put a friends Xbox profile on my Xbox One so we can transfer his old DLC from previous games, are those songs available now on my console on my profile?

Assuming the Xbone licensing works the same way as on the 360, yes, you would, as long as either:
a) his account is logged in while you play. The account shouldn't actually have to play an instrument during the game however, so you can still play under your profile.
b) he sets your console as his default Xbone One. Then his account won't need to be logged in and all accounts on the console should be able to access the content.

Once again - this is assuming the Xbone DRM works under the same "rules" as on 360.

Those first two months without individual player speeds will be rough. I didn't realize that was a time consuming feature to add. I guess is just low priority, but i don't get how expert players can stand their track moving medium speed if playing with new players.

Edit: I Just realized that I don't understand the concept that they added harmonies to all old tracks. Doesn't that only make sense with songs that have multiple singers on the recording? Or are they basically inventing new harmony parts for each song from scratch?

Ok cool. Thanks!

This is one of those things that I've always had a lot of difficulty with in RB games ever since moving up to HDTVs with amp/surround speaker set ups. Amazingly, I've still got Gen 1 RB instruments, so I've never had the convenience of an auto-calibration system, though I heard they weren't that great anyway.

I hope someone here at GAF comes through with an RB4 calibration guide, because so far, I've only really ever felt my calibration timing was spot on when I actually disconnected the audio from the PS3 and hooked it up with A/V cables to small speakers, letting me put the audio calibration number to 0. Whenever I hook it up to a home theater audio system it just always feels slightly off.

Auto Calibration is great for a ballpark, I don't like RB guitars but I always include one in my "gigbag" as such for set up, I tend to use it as a ballpark, then mute the audio, play a song and edit calibration until I feel its spot on, same for the audio

Anyone ever had Xbox.com not allowing a purchase with MS Balance? I don't seem to be able to get the RB Export Key. And my PayPal is rejected because it's not US, it does not like my CC either.

I remember having that issue when i tried to buy Rise of the Fenix. Tried many times. I don't remember if I ever got around to buying it on the 360.
