Rock Band DLC Announcements

I would love some New Found Glory, or other early '00s pop-punk. Hell, I'd even get an XNA membership and work on NFG songs if I could somehow contact them.

Oh hey, you're back!

I've tried with The Ataris, but Kris kinda... vanished. Probably not a bad idea though, I don't know that Harmonix is gonna push for that sorta material any time soon.

it wouldn't matter if we made a new thread anyway, a lot of the people from that thread are perm'd, posting there with an alt would give em away too

it's dead, most are gone, and yeah, quit nostalgia'ing over it

Jarate, always raining on people's parade.

Speaking of which @Charron, does RBN2.0 even allow you to chart Tug of War anymore or would bringing back any versus mode for a potential RB4 pretty much require issuing upgrade midis for each song?

Also while I was looking for that in the docs, I noticed a little joke from Harmonix:

All right - preferred over "Alright"
'Til - preferred over "Till"
'Cause - preferred over "cuz"
Mama - preferred over "Momma"
Yeah - As opposed to “Yea"
Whoa - As opposed to “Woah”
Ugh - Reserved for exasperated sigh. See “Megadeth – I Ain’t Superstitious” for proper use.
Unh - A nasally grunt sound, almost like an "Nnn" sound
Huah! - Reserved for the signature “death metal grunt” sound.
Yippie-ki-yo-ki-yi-ki-yay - Reserved for Toby Keith.
<whistle> - Cue the player to whistle, should be phonics set to “easy” (incase the player can’t actually whistle). Similar prompts should be done in the same format, such as <yawn> or <sneeze>.

Nope, no Tug-of-War authoring. I kinda have a feeling Versus isn't coming back, at least not in that form.

And that made me check; I screwed up the first Yippie-ki-yay on Bang >_< Though in my defense, IMDB's quotes has "Yippie-ki-yay motherfucker" both with an -ie and an -ee.

I love to talk about Rock Band...damn I still do everyday...but it is impossible to keep a big community of people only talking about that. There were a lot of topics everyday...but despite that, the topic always came back to RB when somebody asked.

I remember I went in to ask a question. I was promptly ignored, and when I asked again, I was ignored again.

The destruction of that thread was merited. I rather like the new RB thread, but it -is- a little dead. If you aren't going for score, however, there isn't much to talk about. Anyone who's interested in music would just go to the music |OT|.

I'd honestly rather see something new over Tug of War. The only really fun mode for me was Score Duel, and that's pretty much just leaderboard competition in real time. And only Guitar had people searching for games. Bass was lol for finding games, drums about the same, and I don't believe I ever got a matchmaking Vocals match.

Tug of War was a neat idea for letting people of different difficulty levels play each other, but some songs were unwinnable if you EVER missed a note and a lot more were unwinnable on Expert versus Medium or Easy if you ever missed a note.

I mean, just think about the playlist count if they tried to have it in RB3

Guitar (Expert, Hard, Medium, Easy)
Bass (Expert, Hard, Medium, Easy)
Keys (Expert, Hard, Medium, Easy + Pro variant of each)
Vocals (Expert, Hard, Medium, Easy + Harmony variants)
Drums (Expert, Hard, Medium, Easy + Pro variant of each)
Pro Guitar (Expert, Hard, Medium, Easy)
Pro Bass (Expert, Hard, Medium, Easy)

That's 40 playlists for the population to be split between.

I do miss some score duel. I put more hours into that than I ever did solo/band play.

Of course, the battle system isn't too bad but the RB community doesn't create/participate enough to bring out it's full potential.

Maybe if we made some GAF battles...

Charron do you think you could use your legendary ability to both chart and negotiate with artists in contacting Ween? I would love to see the songs "Buckingham Green" "Roses are Free" "Push Th' Little Daises" in Rock Band. They already have two songs on RBN so it shouldn't be that hard to secure them right?

I love singing "Gabrielle."

Weren't a lot of their popular songs on Warner? I heard it's hard to get Warner songs (dying for more Flaming Lips and REM, ANY Built to Spill would be grand).

AFAIK they got the rights to everything because they where re-releasing the albums. But even then, the rest of Shinola Vol. 1 and even some of La Cucharacha would be amazing.

Yeah, I noticed that just recently a lot of their old Warners stuff just finally became available via Amazon mp3.

I've Seen All Good People. FUCK YES!!!!

Only two songs that pack is missing are Gates of Delerium and Close to the Edge.

Can't wait for the second Yes pack, hopefully we get Close to the Edge!

Close to the Edge is my most wanted Yes song. Probably my most wanted (realistic) song is A Quick One by The Who. For unrealistic desires, it would have to be Layla. Perhaps when the Clapton exclusivity expires.

I hope these tracks come soon. Other than fallout boy, those are all great songs. I am glad that Harmonix continues to release great tracks even as business has died down considerably.

I genuinely thought we already had those Fall Out Boy songs.

And if you want Ween, talk to these guys. They did the two songs in the game already.

Oh if that's the case then the list may be really old, which like the Metallica songs, may be a long way off or just not going to happen at all.

No, those are all new, but at the same time they may not be coming for a while or at all.

Rock Band content is the XBLA DotW!

... uh, don't really want any of this that I don't already have.

Metallica Pack 01 (...And Justice For All, Blackened, Ride the Lightning)

Blink-182 Pack 02 ("First Date," "I Miss You," and "Adam's Song")

The Queen RB1 pack should be off the market. It's bullshit that they're still selling old DLC without a warning that it sucks on RB3.

Wait what?

I bought that pack over a year ago, can I upgrade so it includes keyboard and harmonies or something? (Don't have a pro guitar so that doesn't matter me much at the moment.)

Unfortunately no. Because of the way the mixing is handled, you can't just update for keys/harmonies. It has to be all new files.

Also, there's a Def Leppard DLC giveaway and a Mustang giveaway going on Twitter right now.

Just look for the Queen tracks that say RB3 version. They'll support the new RB3 features that weren't in the previous pack ( such as keyboard, harmonies, etc just like Bohemian Rhapsody).

I still wish they had released 'don't stop me now' ( not to mention 'radio gaga', 'you're my best friend' and 'bicycle'.) :(

Somebody to Love is a great song, but unless you have the keyboard you should stick with the original. The RB3 version (obviously) moves most of the song to the keyboard track so the guitarist is stuck doing very little.

I'll just keep my legacy pack then, for now. Fortunately I mostly play drum pro and I suck at pro keys anyway.

Oh, and a vote here for Innuendo.

I actually prefer not to play things I shouldn't. Doesn't feel ... "natural" (yeah yeah, it's a game, but still)

If you do any kind of singing, get the RB3 version. It is god tier now that it has harmonies.

Harmonix are scummy as fuck. They have the Queen tracks before the Queen RB3 Tracks in the in-game music store, so if you go in without prior knowledge, you'll end up buying the wrong Queen tracks without the upgrades. It's super scummy, and another thing that's on the checklist of shit Harmonix does.

Thanks for letting us know about these. I finally caved and created a twitter account for these. There are so many giveaways that I have skipped over because of them requiring 're-tweeting' about the giveaways, but I want that guitar. Or the Def Lep songs.

There's tracks in the original pack that aren't in the upgrade pack. Also, the issue is that the parenthesis will make the other ones sort ahead of the originals.

People would say they're jerks if they removed the other ones off the store. This is probably why they pretty much killed the idea of doing (RB3 Version) s after the Queen pack. They still have the covers that they replaced with masters up on the store.

I know, it's god tier for singing and keyboard. I had the gang over and a friend who loves Queen did the main vocals, and I did the backing while playing keyboard. It's awesome how it goes back and forth like that.

Of course, Bohemian Rhapsody is also great for that, but not quite as interesting to play.

Hanlon's razor: "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." In this case it's not stupidity, probably just a lack of funds to do all the work that is required... or, less charitably, they already lost all the competent people.

A consciously slow week for RBN. We had some troubles with reviewers not doing their job right, which almost led to broken songs getting to the store. So there was a bit of an internal stoppage and process change (similar to when Pro Drums were revealed, or the RBN1.0/RBN2.0 changeover) and as a result not many songs were passed in time. Fortunately it's just a one-week thing, and there's already over 100 songs in the review pipeline again, and I know a bunch are going to be passing pretty swiftly (several have already).

So no, RBN is not dead, shut up butter_stick, just a delay while the community fills in some loopholes and puts better tools to use.

Today in RBN for XBox:

Metal

Fallen Angel - "Ashes to Ashes/Leaving It All Behind" (160 MSP)
Lich King - "Act of War" (80 MSP)

Coming to PS3 next week:

Buckner & Garcia - "Pac-Man Fever" ($1.99) - Pop-Rock
Buckner & Garcia - "Froggy's Lament" ($1.99) - Pop-Rock
Buckner & Garcia - "Hyperspace" ($1.99) - Pop-Rock
Buckner & Garcia - "Mousetrap" ($1.99) - Pop-Rock
Possible Oscar - "Dead Again" ($1.99) - Rock
