I know it must be buried inside this massive thread, so instead I come to you late into the game, as always, to ask a question I need an answer to:

Does the PS3 version support online voice chat?

Thx. : )

I got the 360 bundle today and my only compliant so far is the guitar. The strum bar is flimsy as Hell (I don't know if Strats arw usually lile this; I'm used to the GH3 guitar) and the auto calibration function does not work. I tried 20 different times and nada.

I'd love to be playing drums right now, but my 360 set is currently stuck in its "attempting to connect" mode and nothing I do on my XBox will get it to connect. I'd take the batteries out and start over, but the battery compartment is RIDICULOUSLY difficult to open, to the point that I had to use the drum sticks to crack the thing open to even get the batteries in.

And this was supposed to be my release from frustration, damnit.

Ya, the RB strum has always been flimsier than the GH strum. You can use your GH guitar with RB anyways, that's what I usually do unless I have 4 people.

So whats the consensus on the drum kits? Wait for Guitar Hero? Or just buy RB2 now?

you will get a mixed response in this thread. personally if your serious about drumming then I would go a modded route (Goodwood mods) or spend the premium for the ION. If your casually playing drums on medium then the RB2 kit will be fine.

nobody knows how well the GHWT drum set will hold up. even though they have a outstanding track record with guitars they are not the same as drums.

it all depends on how serious you are about drums. also what will be your primary game. If you go the RB route, GH will go out it's way to make sure you have the same experience that you have in RB with GH. RB2 however will not pro-fit the GH drums.

I'm still upset the with the lack of auto calibration. Maybe I can send it in.

Picked this up yesterday for the PS3.

One thing I noticed right away was you can use the GH3 Les Paul with this game; unlike Rock Band 1.

One thing that's really bothering me though is I can't seem to get it calibrated correctly. I tried the auto calibration feature several times and can't get anything consistent. I'm missing notes I shouldn't be missing IMO. I tried this on both guitars I own and it's the same deal. On Rock band 1 everything worked perfectly. I can't even beat Green Grass & High Tides because I'm missing notes I shouldn't be. This is becoming very frustrating!

Anyone else having these same problems?

Hold the guitar two feet away or so in front of the TV. If it's a few inches away it won't work.

I just can't bring myself to buy any more peripherals made by HMX. I spent so much cash maintaining my RB instruments that I'd feel like a fool if I didn't at least give Red Octane a chance first.

just copy your RB1 calibration settings into RB2.

I dunno like I said before the guitar calibration was spot on for me.
I ended up doing that. I used RB1's LCD TV setting and input it into RB2 after being frustrated by the calibration tools.

what?
I thought the last patch added LP compatibility to RB1...

Well, I ended up buying a used RB1 Wireless Guitar from gamestop. It was only $30 so I thought it was worth taking a chance on. The only difference between that and a new one really is 30 days of warranty, so I am going to hop if it dies it'll be within the first 30 days.

Now I just need to buy the game. :D

I just wanna say how I love(read: hate) that even wired peripherals fall under the "turn controller off when inactive"feature of the new power save mode for the PS3. It makes no damn sense. I got kicked out of a set because of that shit.

Played for a while today. I'm enjoying the new equipment, especially the small bulb on the end of the microphone and the faster menus. The new songs are just a bonus. :lol

I get to the end of panic attack on expert drums and fail on my ass AND I was very close to 5 starring it. im done for tonight. no more dreams need to be crushed.

And now they won't take my debit card for express shipping. This is incredibly frustrating and probably the worst overall out-of-the-box experience I've had with anything in my entire life.

Looks like the "dream" crushed you!

I think this is a "post rock revolution" syndrome

I played Chop Suey in RB2 to get the stench out. :lol

I really hate that song.

In my opinion its a bit on the mediocre side for a Guns 'n Roses song....it was a big disappointment for me and its one of my least played songs in the game.

I don't think of it as a Guns 'n Roses song, but more of a song off the Axel Rose solo album.

So I been hearing tons of other problems for the rb2 drums besides crosstalk. Battery disconnection.etc.etc

After fighting with it all day and starting but not finishing the RMA process I think the batteries just loosen a bit and that's what causes the problem. Maybe. It's helped me to pop them back in so...

Still getting that RMA going tomorrow but that'll keep me playing for tonight.

To anybody trying to get auto calibration to work:

Make sure you have the room close to pitch black before you start. I found that any extra lighting can mess up the settings. I'd even go as far as to turn your brightness of your TV down for a bit so it does not flood the sensor.

If you cant get your room dark hold your hand in a cone shape over the sensor to block the extra lighting.

Question: Is it only so far the SL series of the RB2 drums that's having the problems or the other series is experiencing problems too?

I think country would be pretty fucking fun to play, no matter how ass the music might be.
Yeah.
The thing about it is this: The average fucktard don't know shit about good country music.Imagine what your oppinions of rock music would be if it were only based on what you saw on TV and heard on the radio?
Nickleback, Fall Out Boy and Kid Rock? No, fank you.
Guys with bad taste exclaim:
"The only good country is Jonny Cash!"
Why?
Cuz you like three of his songs and you saw a movie about him? Is it because they sell cool shirts at Hot Topic or wherever with his mug on it?

How would you even know that was true kids?

Its really sad that an entire genre of music can be ignored by people who might enjoy it just because they refuse to dig a little deeper.

Anyway, What I mean is, I'll take some country in my RB.:D

It did, I used the Les Paul in RB1 for the past couple of weeks, and in RB2 today.

Oh, didn't know that till now... Yep, just checked it and it sure does.

Anyway, I copied the calibration settings from RB1 and it's still off. Do I make the video option the same number as the audio option? Like if audio was 40ms would I have to make video the same?

I'd kill for some country. Early Wilco or Whiskeytown man that would be awesome. Ryan Adams actually used to be good!

Try setting the audio lag to 0ms, and the video lag to match the offset in RB1. That's what worked for me.
