Seriously, I haven't heard any good country music in the last 30 years outside of Allison Krauss, and that's only with her duet album with Robert Plant. If there's good country music out there, please let me know where I could find it.

I've only really played Rockband casually at friends' houses, but I decided to pick it up and I put a lot of time into it today.

The auto-calibration for guitar definitely seems to not work well. It was fairly off for me, and as well, it made my whammy bar not work, which made me think that the guitar was broken out of the box. When I calibrated it manually though everything seemed alright, and the whammy bar worked fine.

I've spent most of my time drumming so far. Easy is too easy for me, so I've been doing most things on medium and not having much difficulty. "Eye of the Tiger" however has a MASSIVE leap in difficulty in my opinion. It's the only song where I've had to go to practice mode and slow it down to 80% to try to get it right, and I still can't do it. I realize that it's right on the beat, and I can get that for a bit but I get out of sync after a few notes.

I'd say that I'm glad I only have to spend $1.99.

Edit: I'd actually put up with a TON of crap if it means Walk The Line gets in. That would make me smile from ear to ear.

I don't even listen to country but I know most of the songs on your list M3wThr33.

Can't say I'd buy them all but I'd certainly buy some for some VARIETY.

There's some good songs in there. Some, like "Crazy", would only really be interesting for the singer though.

I'm a Rockband newb so I'm still just playing around with the game. Is there a way to make a song never show up in random playlists or sort of almost just delete it? Sort of like how you can uncheck a song in your iTunes playlist and iTunes will just skip it by? Some of the songs I've found I'm never, ever going to want to play.

Nope. They told us they were working on a way to allow us to do it and then conveniently left it out.

This thread sickens me.

Everyday people bitch and moan about obscure, one-hit-wonder bands when week after week they release anything other than Muse.

Why is Assassin in GHWT, KoC in GH3, and only Hysteria is in RB?

I need answers, peeps.

Needs much more Muse!

I will die in heaven if they release a Muse full CD (HAARP please! :D )

did anyone know that there is not 1 artist in RB history that has started with the letter U?

must be keeping it nice and safe for....

I was sorting by artist and saw that U is blocked out. WTF!!

Quick question. Is it possible for me to erase PDA, Down with the sickness, and Chop Suey from the disc? If I ever play any of those songs again it will be too soon.

how the fuck do you hate PDA? :(((((

all those songs are pretty awesome on drums.

Hrmmmmmm. I did.

Odd, I'm still posting instead of scrambling towards my 360 at full speed.

I actually just don't support GH DLC. I've downloaded 97 songs from harmonix and 0 from Activision.

It will stay that way.

Well don't complain when you don't get the music you want to play then. By and large the GH3 DLC has been superb, I own most of it and its consistently been good. I own somewhere in the vicinity of 300 RB tracks (including DLC) it still doesn't stop me from buying GH3 or GH:WT DLC as well.

I just hated all that strumming. Wouldn't mind the strumming if the song rocked, but I couldn't really hear anything other than the sound of my fingers crying out in pain

Are they changing their download structure to at least match Harmonix in that regard for GHWT? Such as lower price for bundle downloads and the ability to download any song as a single track regardless of album or download pack it's affiliated with?

I would really hope so... they're so fucking screwed up with GH3's DLC.

I'm not sure how its going to be set up, but you can atleast dl single tracks.

I know you fuckers dont care. Its not anybody's fault. I wasnt raised with it either. Still, I'm never arrogant enough (as arrogant as I am) to say an entire genre of music is bad just because its not of my culture or upbringing.
Exept Bebop cuz Free Jazz is BETTER bitches!

You rock. I always say that the only reason people hate entire genres is because they're ill-informed. EVERY genre of music has great examples. You just have to hunt them down.

Also: A good hint that somebody knows nothing about music and/or has bad taste. You ask, "What kinds of music do you like?" They say, "Oh, I like everything except country."

As long as it's from their early era.

U2 lately is on autopilot it seems, boring, numbifying and dull. Plus, Bono sickens me to the bone. Seriously, seeing that man on my TV makes me vomit. One of the greatest U2-concerts in the past decade was in Edinbrough, where Bono shut down the music and started clapping his hands slowly, inviting the crowd to join him. As everyone was clapping, he grabbed the mic and said "every time we clap our hands, a child in Africa dies.". One of the people in the crowd responded with "Well, bloody stop doing it then!".
Bono, taking himself way too seriously, was not amused.

Take your political and ideological ideas and put them in your songs (like Trent Reznor or Tom Morello for instance) or use your fame and the media that gets attracted by it to put the attention on places that deserve it in your opinion. But don't shut down a frigging show where people pay money to listen to music and experience a concert, to vent your ideas about the world. A Dutch performer (Marco Borsato) also did this, and people actually demanded refunds afterwards.

That's the Karaoke Revolution Country list, not a list for Rock Band. I'd like to play some of these in Rock Band.

Anything of or relating to rural areas or the American South is an abomination.

My girlfriend was technically born in Tennessee and lived there for a few years and both of her parent's families are from the Carolinas. She does not take kindly to this viewpoint.

This is very true and might be the only exception to the above rule. CCR, of course, get an automatic exception.

I am familiar with all of these. Of them only 14 and 23 are good. I'll grant some slight exception to 31, esp. if it has anything to do with the Blues Brothers. 10 and 13 I actively, viciously hate on a level of say fratboys drunkenly singing "Margaritaville" as, well, you basically get the same sort of thing from some horde of terrible drunk people whenever either song is playing and both songs really, really suck whereas "Margaritaville" was, at best, inoffensive and surprisingly fun to play in RB.

Also, no Loretta Lynn? No Lynn Anderson?

Johnkers said:

I am, admittedly, not familiar with them so I cannot make a judgment. I will, however, state that Split Lip Rayfield most definitely is completely awesome. I stood around outside a bar where I was well-known to the staff for about four to five hours trying to get in to see them when they were on their last tour (their lead vocalist had throat cancer and would succumb to it within the year) and the place was already at capacity. Apparently since no advance tickets were sold there was a line down the block when the bar opened at 5 PM or so.

In the period when I hung out at that particular bar (Auntie Mae's Parlor in Manhattan, Kansas if anyone cares) I got exposed to a lot more country rock as they tended to book a lot of it. The difference is that it tends to be very different from country and definitely miles away from the current crop of pop country. More like the hated Eagles or Wilco.

I like PDA, but I'll agree it was not a good choice for the game. The other two are just plain terrible.

Nah, aside from it representing a culture that I really dislike I tend not to care for the fundamental aspects of the music -- the instrumentation and the style -- more than anything. I can accept that some people will like it, but I really just don't care for it.

I have roughly the same feelings about rap though.

Bebop is demonstrably better than free jazz, however, this can be proven with math.

Heh. I still remember when I first head Interpol. Some website I was using at the time to find out about new music (I want to say Epitonic as I was using them a lot, but maybe somewhere else) had "NYC" up and it was just great. Then they started getting big and I was seeing their stuff everywhere. I've never really understood that. Sort of like how Modest Mouse got big... aside from "Float On" they're really not a mainstream sort of act.

It just occurred to me, but one of the reasons for the downloadable songs is also to kill the used market. Since a code is only usable once and comes on the often missing manual it serves to get people used to downloading songs, preserve disc space, etc. but also to keep people from just buying it used like they did with the original. That's kinda dickish really.

Not really dickish seeing as you're getting more songs for your money in this one. I'd say it's more of an incentive to buy new.

Why dont you look up at all the humanitarian work that he has done over the last decade or more. He is using his celebrity to get things done. He brings it up at concerts to get the message to those that dont pay attention to the news or follow what he does. He may seem self important, but he is at least doing something other than talking about the problems. And as for early U2, yes that is their best stuff, but their last two albums have been fantastic. Its the mid to late 90s period that is best forgotten. Go pick up "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" and listen to "Sometimes You Cant Make It On Your Own." It is about his relationship with his father who recently passed away and it is one their most emotional and moving songs they have ever done.

To end it all, I would fucking flip out to get u2 in Rock Band. All they need to do to sign them is to say they will donate the profits to charity, and Bono will jump all over it.

Not really feeling too confident I'll get my RB2 PS3 Sunburst before World Tour comes out since GameStop still says on their site pre-orders ship 10/19. Oh well.

If I remember correctly, Eye of the Tiger is a basic rock beat - once you practice some, you're going to come back and say that it is actually one of the easiest songs to play, it just will take some time to get used to playing that basic rhythm :)

I'm not that great a drummer myself - still stuck in the mid tiers of Hard, btw. I sucked for the better part of a year (stuck in medium) until all of a sudden my brain figured something out a couple of months ago...

Now I'm obsessed. I got my Omega Pedal a few weeks ago and wasn't thrilled with it at first (the input would bounce constantly, breaking my combo...plus you really do need to get used to the feel of a real pedal) but now that I finally got off my lazy ass and got a wrench to tweak it, it's perfect :) Now where's my PS3 Drum Rocker, Ion?

I've been playing expert guitar for a little while, but I think I've hit my limit. Songs like Aqualung and Any Way You Want It seem to just kick my ass all the time. How can I get better outside of just practice mode? I've read about alt-strumming, but I've never tried it (I usually just downstrum everything).

Yea, aside from the fills (which are all too short to kill a run) it's the simplest song in the game. If you're having trouble with it, go into the beat trainer and just keep working through it.

Practice alt strumming. I really don't understand how people get anywhere without it. Only down-strumming is like playing drums with one hand.

That song (Eye of the Tiger) still gives me fits occasionally on the fills, especially with the double hits with the bass drum on the different hits. One thing that's helped me was to do the multiple hits with one hand or the other instead of interlacing them. Call me from Blondie is even worse. The hits are just fast enough to make it hard to keep up if I keep the fills separated (different hands for different toms) but if I try to roll through them my hands get all mixed up.

I downstrum everything unless it's a fast section or a long constant stream of a single note/chord. I'm on Expert (but not the greatest) and can pass almost every song with little to no problems.

Either it's a calibration issue, but the song seems like the easiest song in the game.

Pretty much, duder. I'm looking forward to playing it, but I'd rather have another week with a bunch of singles like a couple weeks ago and a few weeks before that.

The only song in the entire game that requires alt strumming is Dream Theater - Panic Attack.

This. I can't keep rhythm with alt strumming if it's slow. That and it just looks stupid at slow speeds. You can't rock out slow alt strumming.
