Which is more funny?

Here are the clips:

Wacky Deli

Stimpy's Cartoon (Note: Despite the Spike TV logo, this was from an episode during the original run)

Now, one could argue that Wacky Deli was a precursor to YouTube Poops, while Stimpy's Cartoon has the line "I have to throw up now Poopy."

I honestly don't know which one to choose. Help me decide.

Without even clicking the link I can still hear it in my head.

"Pistol packing pete is coming to KILL US!"

"Ah-ahem-uh-hupadupadupauppa. Ah-ahem-uh-hupadupadupauppa."

"Pistol packing pete is coming to KILL US!"
That line is great because it captures how absolutely brutal some of those Fleischer cartoons were always on the verge of becoming.

Betty Boop was always on the verge of something horrific happening to her.

Wacky Deli gets special mention for jokes about how producers will fuck things up.

Honestly, I gotta go with Wacky Deli (even if you're talking the entire episodes and not just the shorts). Stimpy's Cartoon was really fun in ragging on golden era cartoon tropes, but if you weren't/aren't a BIG fan of those or well versed in them, a good chunk of the humor goes over your head.

Wacky Deli's humor was more current (for it's time, hell it holds up today imo) and didn't require as much an understanding on the history of older cartoons as it did an understanding of the studio broadcast mentality, cartoon or otherwise. Even if you didn't know how that worked, there were more general jokes in there to keep you laughing.

Plus I hate to admit it, but the Wacky Deli thing gave me an idea for this one cartoon as a kid I would've called The Big Cheese, about a giant semi-anthropomorphic piece of Swiss cheese that worked as the president of an office building.

Some crazy shit you can think of when you're a kid, huh?

I would say that both Wacky Deli and The Fatheads were precursors to a lot of current adult cartoon humor. One thing I wish someone in TV would experiment with that The Fatheads did was employ a 1-person laugh track that just constantly cackled throughout the episode. I thought it was interesting touch.

Oh, totally forgot about that touch. Had to look up the cartoon to remind myself. So great.

Wacky Delly and The Fatheads are like the greatest cartoons within a cartoon.

What makes it even better is that they found it incredibly funny (rightfully so) that they "were putting over the airwaves such incredibly insane surrealism." Source: http://title14.com/rocko/contributors/martin.html

I just love the fact they were able to make such ridiculous content and get it approved and past everyone.

HA! I forgot about that aspect of it. I remember thinking it was so funny to have that one guy cracking the hell up throughout the cartoon.

Man that was a good idea.

Wow, I never actually noticed that. That is a nice touch.

It's weird, time has proven to me that Rocko was a better cartoon than Ren & Stimpy. But I've always thought the wacky Deli episode is pure genius.

I assume Stimpy's Cartoon was from the horrible run on Spike. I like to pretend those never existed. Season 1 was amazing. Season 2 had some great episodes. After that, Ren and Stimply was pretty bad.

Neat topic.

Very close in terms of comedy for me, so I'm gonna side with Stimpy's Cartoon due to better commentary on the cartoon industry(And the respective studio), superior art and the only good usage of the Wilbur Cobb character.

There's an episode of Family Guy that actually has a snippet of Stewie doing something like that.
Opinions on that show aside,
I thought it was a neat joke and it's the only other instance I can think of where it's employed.

I vaguely remember the Rocko clip from when I was a kid. Watching it this time around I thought that Stimpy's cartoon had a lot more going for it. At least in this instance.

I remember more things from Wacky Deli, including what it was about without even clicking on any of the video links.

Never saw Wacky Deli before, but "I have to throw up now Poopy" was lodged in my brain and this thread unearthed it and oh god my youth...

So I vote for Stimpy's.

Wacky Deli is classic and I remember the whole episode by heart

Stimpy's Cartoon isn't even close, but it has the best damn character ever made. Wilbur Cobb

wacky delly and stimpy's cartoon were both awesome jabs at nickelodeon's production structure in the 90s. stimpy's cartoon felt a lot more personal though, like a big middle finger to the company, while wacky delly was a little more playful. as an episode, i prefer rocko's take.

the cartoon wacky delly wasn't as funny to me as stimpy's cartoon though. the one line that's still gets me is 'I AM THE CHEESE. I AM THE BEST CHARACTER IN THE SHOW. I AM BETTER THAN THE SALAMI AND BOLOGNA COMBINED'. just something about filbert's hubris reaching a breaking point gets me.

i think there's something about the shittiness of stimpy's cartoon that makes it funnier. like with wacky delly, it's something made out of turmoil among the creators. stimpy was limited by ren, but it was largely his story and idea and it's just a mess. 'hummmmmblabla. i'm going to get you! huuuuuuuuummmmmmmdubababla!'

oh and the fatheads is on another level entirely. 'cause we're pigs. we can't talk! that's what makes this scene very humorous, are you with me?'
