Rockstar advises GTA5 players avoid garages until a bug is fixed

I modded one car with some mid-level parts, armour, turbo, and a paint job and was sure to park it in Trevor's personal garage but it vanished the next time I played. Not a huge loss but still I liked that car.

I hope they fix it quick, and my condolences to dudes who spent big money.

It's sad how much of GTA's charisma is lost when you can't save up and modify cars. Hope they patch this soon - I don't like driving their personal cars.

Once again one of my characters cars upgrades and customizations is gone. And I know for a fact I didn't have another character drive it. It's really annoying.

I had a cheetah disappear out of mike's garage, and an entity out of Franklin's. Oddly they showed back up after a few in game days when I didn't put anything else in the garages.

Haven't had any problems with my saved cars yet. All my best cars that I bought are saved in the big garages and are still around. But I drive them back to the garage when I'm done with them and then save so that could be why. However I did a stranger mission that made me switch cars and I had to ditch my JB700 :( but I checked the impound lot out of curiosity and it was there :D Go figure

Please hurry and fix this Rockstar.

-My fully modded car disappeared when I drove up to a garage and purchased it
-Modded car disappears from safehouse garage
-Purchased car disappears from garage

That aside, GTA5 has really perfected car handling compared to 4. The cars are gorgeous, and little details like high-beams, retractable roof, turbo wastegate and kick are amazing. Also that mission with the Zonda (I think) and Koenigsegg supercars (+ Jaguar) highway chase was pure bliss.

Makes me scared to take my Z Type out though :( I'd be so sad to lose 10 million dollars worth of automobile to a fucking glitch

I leave my Lambo sitting the garage and it STILL disappeared. >:(

How can they be so horribly slow at fixing problems with that giant team.
Uhmm...

1) You can't put the whole team into fixing the bugs and then testing it when you have things like GTA Online coming in 3 days.

2) The game is huge and the combinations of things that could break it are even larger. They have to test it all.

3) As someone said before, even if they're done, they have to get through both Microsoft and Sony's check, and that can take a long time.

I don't even understand how car modding works on the ifruit app. I tricked everything out for each character via the app and then questionmark. Is this the bug?

Haven't seen the GPS and cell phones in SR, but... they already had those in GTA IV.
What exactly did they take from SR?
SR1 had GPS and a user controlled cell phone before GTAIV did. Probably a coincidence though given the saturation of cell phones and GPS devices around that time period, also SR did lot of other smart things (the garage system for example) that Rockstar has completely ignored for whatever reason.

The way it works is you complete the order in the iFruit app, then in game you get a message to go to the car shop to get your order fulfilled. I believe the first order is free. You should get a message in the app the order went through.

And yet every other studio makes a day1 patch to fix bugs, how did R* not see this one?

Yeah it's inexcusable. By the time they patch this I'll be done with the single player story and will probably never play it again. They had 5 years of development to get this right and they failed.

i've lost so far (all before i knew about this bug) 2 fully modded cars for franklin, a pink car i aquired after a mission, a fully modded buggy for trevor and one as well for michael.

i'm gonna put on my tin foil cap and say this glitch is a ploy to get us to spend a lot of our in game money and flush it down the toilet so that we'll all be hooked and want to pay real money to get more in game money.

Well, I spent way too much money on cars. Damage already done, unless they give us our money back. :'(

I hope the patch fixes or adds other things aswell, like being able to do all (character exclusive) things with all characters.

As far as I can tell the default vehicles will always respawn with any upgrades you bought even if you don't save them in the garage. At least every time I load up a game after not playing for a few hours that's character's car is there with all the upgrades.

Nope. I lost all my mods to Trevors vehicle about 2/3's of the way through the story. Back to basic.

Me too. But with Michael's car it got weird dollar sign hubcaps last time I lost all my upgrades. Dollar sign hubcaps!

It's bizarre. Shouldn't all the card data be just be a couple of characters in a save file somewhere? I don't really get how they screwed this up so badly.

Yes why bother spending money on upgrading cars when driving fast comprises like half the game...

Any of the cars driving around in Rockford Hills are EASILY fast enough to beat the game with little difficulty.

So as much as I like my armored Gauntlet with turbo - it was hardly necessary.

That one is actually explained in a text from Jimmy when you get the car back. Blame your son for the bad rims. :)

If people only did what was necessary to beat the game, it would be pretty boring.

I dont get how the game was released with a problem as big as this. When the cars are massive parts of the game (customization, stocks, racing) you would think every aspect would be on point. I would hope it doesnt turn out like Skyrim did

I was wondering where those hideous rims came from. I would always forget to change them, and they would show up in cut scenes breaking my immersion lol

Well, this will probably be patched in with the online update, so I won't even be playing single player when this is fixed...

Btw, they should let us be able to change the characters default vehicles or get a proper garage system in a open world game. I was too afraid to use my custom vehicles because who knows where I am going.. For all I know I may have to jump into a helicopter and parachute out...

I mean, you can play the story without ever needing a garage - the car mods don't make-or-break the experience at all in my opinion.

Yes, I enjoyed the game... It also helped that default cars were given and they kept their mods for the most part...

Oh haha. That's pretty funny. Still though I wonder why my upgrades were gone.
