Rockstar release more details about GTA ONLINE

And for just 60 bucks. That's pretty damn good. Lets just hope the social club doesn't meltdown come october 1st!
Seriously.

Its an everything-sim. My mind reels every time I play at just how much stuff I'm *not* doing in that session.

I still haven't even messed with a lot of the side sports activities, and I can find myself just driving and flying for hours on end. And like all the best open worlds, the more you mess around, the more familiar it becomes, the more you can take advantage of the environment in cool ways.

This really is gaming crack. And the content creator has the potential to turn that crack into something a million-fold more potent.

Im just wondering here. What are the differences between GTA5 online and GTA4 online? Everyone seems to being getting ultra hype over gta5 online, but glossing over the features, it seems to be the exact same online seen in 4.

Don't know how you can possibly balance micro transaction players and non transaction players. Some people are going to be able to have tanks, jets and top weaponry within the first 10 mins

Seemingly to start with, it is quite similar to GTAIV/RDR with added bonuses. BUT - this takes place in San Andreas, which instantly makes it awesome.

I didn't play too much of GTAIV online - but I didn't play much GTAIV at all after the campaign. The most fun things to do, planes, skydiving, dirt-bikes, riding off mountains etc... were not really in IV, so I can see the online being far more fun, just because of that. It is great on your own, so I imagine that will only improve roaming around with other people (and then into the game modes).

Beyond that - I really hope what they add pushes the boundaries. Heists could be excellent, and the content creator could be truly amazing - but we will see just how far it will go.

Free roam with 16 players and the interactsbility from the GTA V story mode. Rob stores, do heists and more together.

Did you play GTA IV online? If so, how are they similar?

Not if they are limited to what they can purchase by their rank. They can have the money, but they can't purchase uber items until they reach level x.

I'd kill for a GTA5 take of Mafiya Work.

Quite possibly my favorite multiplayer ever.

I think alot of people who hear GTAOnline will think its an MMO just from the scope of the single player. But from the details it sound just like RDR but more robust. Its not necessarily a bad thing especially with content creation and updates like they mentioned. I remember laughing at guys when they had the donkeys in RDRO.

Looks like I got another week or so to finish the main story in GTA V then, can't wait for this online component. It should be a blast.

Good thing cars control better, helicopter seem to be worse though. Any heist that require you to keep one steady for a player will be a pain.

I can't wait to get my hands on this.

If anything it'll be more like RDR's MP. Since that was brilliant, we should be in for a good time.

Protect the Blimp-

Each team has blimps and must defend them against other players in crop dusters.

Is this doable?

Yeah, I second the Cops 'n Robbers question. Best multiplayer mode in GTAIV.

Damn right it had better be in there. That was by far the most fun I had with GTA4.
The best part was that the driver was randomized for both teams so there would be this hilarious first 5 seconds of everyone trying to figure out who was doing what and then...MADNESS

I've never liked that aspect either

How they balance it will mean everything to me

According to this interview it sounds like they want GTA Online to move towards being an MMO though. It start like this and could evolve into an MMO.

3DJ: Does that mean that GTA Online could be the beginning of something bigger, like an MMO?
L. B. That's where we try to reach. We have plans to GTA Online to become a persistent world with millions of people to coexist. We will be adding new things. Yes, that's where we expect to arrive.

So excited for this to launch. Love the thought of just free roaming, doing heist missions and just building up your our mini empire with your friends. It's going to be great!

Hopefully all the bugs and crashes they're expecting are fixed not long after launch.

I think it's time for the Grand Theft Auto Online OT.

I feel like we (the PS3 crew) need to all come to an agreement that we not allow people who use microtransactions. We work for our shit.

Huh? Online GTA iv was awesome, this sounds even better. Tons of people are looking forward to this, in what way is it pointless?

*sarcasm*

I don't think it has modeled interiors.
So i don't think they'll do shit with it.

I'm curious as to whether they're able to retroactively insert things into old spaces. Stuff like the stores seem to just be pulling from the same instanced chunks rather than being modeling into the world.

I hope they're not dumping all resources into just online. I hope that some of the new interiors, new heists, etc can make their way into the single player game.
