Rocky Horror musical on now

Yeah, this shit is waaaaaaaaay to Glee.

Is it as bad as the Glee version? One thing I never cared for Glee was the showboating/oversinging of songs. That seemed to become a mainstream trend with younger pop singers after Whitney and Mariah hit the scene and continues on to this day with all the young, hip pop singers out there.

I see a lot of the scenes and musical arrangements are based on the stage version and not the movie. The opening is very true to the stage musical.

Checking this out and I dig the soundtrack. Never saw the original movie but I guess I should if everyone's saying it's better.

The original is so much better. The musical arrangements here are really lacking that elusive ingredient, that spark that is the breath of life.

Is Victoria Justice even capable of showing an emotion adequate to what she's supposed to be feeling? She's so wooden.

She's typically the worst part of anything she's in. She got outclassed by every other cast member on her own show despite the writers bending over backwards for her.

This is terrible. It's like they're trying too hard, yet somehow lacking the energy of the original cast. So far Tim Curry was the best part.

Nah. Not watching. The original is perfection in my mind.

(I hold no grudge against them trying, though. If people connect with it, that's awesome.)

I'm actually okay with the Janet chick but the brad and Rocky characters seem terrible.

Magenta totally botched the "dinner is prepared" line.

I'm actually enjoying most of the new costumes and such, but so many lines are falling flat.

In my mind I dream of a Rocky Horror Picture Show anime movie with designs by Ayami Kojima and a soundtrack by Queen.

Well at least I got to see Tim Curry and hear him sing again :(

Feels like Fox castrated this a bit from what I saw.

Oh boy. This didn't do it for me. Laverne was sexy and fierce IMO I watched for her, but the overall experience had many short comings and just didn't live up to the cult classic.

It was okay overall. Again, too much use of the stage version of the songs which are too slow in some places. I did not like Laverne but I found making Frank a woman just didn't work. She was not threatening or vicious like the role requires. Her "I'm Going Home' was just terrible. How was she a transvestite if she's a woman that dresses in fishnets? Has anyone seen a female Frank work?

Oh and Tim :(

Laverne is a trans-woman.

I'm glad I skipped it then. Sounds pretty terrible. If I feel like punishing myself I'll watch Shock Treatment later instead of this.

I didn't think it could get worse than the Glee version but they did it. Changing Time Warp from a rock ballad to a soft rock was a criminal. There will only ever be one true Riff Raff.

Just finished it and incredibly disappointed. It was like an amateur presentation with people just trying to impersonate the old movie.

I did enjoy some of the songs being the stage rendition. Highlight was Hot Patootie and the Floor Show but it fails in comparison to the original. This remake or whatever is so forgetable.

The costumes were too out there. The time warp was visually good in some parts but it was a mess.

Eh it was ok, the original is better but there's not too much missing here. I think part of the charm of the original is how gothic the castle is, and the TV budget simply doesn't let that happen. For instance the intro to the "Sweet Transvestite" feels like Dr Frankenfurter truly catches Brad and Janet off guard in the original, but here it's obviously carefully choreographed. There's a similar situation when Frank chases Janet through the halls: in the original it feels like anything could happen that one wrong move could lead to her demise, but here it's Victoria Justice running from set to set.

It was probably the best you could do at such a budget, and I don't want to pooh pooh the thing to badly, because I think it's a worthwile time, but I've already seen the better version.

On FOX.

Anyone watching?
I've went to watch the musical performed live and it was glorious.

How was this FOX version? Edit: Oh, not as good as it should have been it seems. Will try to get it watched to see how it compares.

I agree with this. I actually liked the transformation of Brad and Janet alright in this version and I think both actors sold it, but overall the weaknesses overwhelmed the positives.

I thought the trailer was already absolutely dreadful. I can't imagine watching the whole thing. Well maybe except for the parts with Tim Curry.

I'm all for doing a new version, hell I freaking love Anthony Steward Head as Frank N. Furter. But this is just...

I didn't think it could be this bad. This might be a career killing move for some of the actors involved. I seriously can't believe Fox saw this and thought it was good enough.

The actress playing Columbia is so bad. Wow, it sounded like she was reading her lines drunk.

I thought she was blitzed out of her mind during most scenes. Zero energy and terrible delivery, especially during the transducer scene. Woof.

I love The Time Warp. What I just witnessed wasn't The Time Warp. That was just awful.

That's another thing, some of these song arrangements fell so flat. ... and yeah, that wasn't the Time Warp.

Is it as bad as the Glee version? One thing I never cared for Glee was the showboating/oversinging of songs.

The only thing I can remember about the Glee version is that they replaced 'transexual' with 'sin-sational' during Sweet Transvestite, other than that it was dull.

This was just mediocre/servicable with a few okay parts. Loved seeing Tim Curry, though... :(

Caught it last night(PST here, so later than others) and it was as bad as I predicted. Showboating and oversinging galore. I actually fell asleep right after "Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch Me" and woke up during the ending credits. LOL! "Hot Patootie", one of my favorites, was chainsaw-massacred by Adam Lambert (so sad, so much "Look at how much better I can do this song" type of showboating).
