Rogue Galaxy or Dark Cloud 2?

All my memories of Dark Cloud 2 are just playing golf in the randomly created dungeons and taking photos of random stuff.

I liked it.

I feel like L5 kind of sucks at the core stuff (combat, dungeon design, real depth gameplay, story-telling), so the best L5 games are the ones that are fun even despite that just because there's lots of quirky enjoyable stuff to do in the world.

Definitely

Wow this looks awesome.

I must have imagined the very basic random dungeon floors. If the volume of them were smaller than it would be easier to bare, but when you get to a certain point in the game and you have 40+ floors to go through then the game's other strengths didn't make it worth it to me.

You're not wrong :P

Personally, at this point in my life, I cant imagine grinding like that myself, but I think players can chip away at those later levels if they want to plough through the story.

Back then, for me, the story really drove my reason to play through the dungeons. Sure, it was grindy especially for today's standards, but I loved the side content, the Georama, etc.

There's alwys a mid level boss or event to spice things up at least.

Dark Cloud 2 is one of my favorite games of all time and i just went through a bunch of agita to get it on my ps4. I couldn't even get through the demo of Rogue Galaxy back in the day.

Note, first i intended to dowbload DC2 last night and enjoy it. Too bad there was an update that took all night to download, at least my ps4 is more stable lol. y ps4 had my Japanese account on it, but for some reason DC2 isnt available on the jpsn store. I made a new user to use my uspsn account, but tgat didnt work, i had tp create a new uspsn account in oeder to use a second psn account on the ps4. And the fibal screw you from sony? The 3gb game will be done in an hour, unlike the all nigjt 275mb download. Sorry if the aside got long, just gotta vent

I read through half this thread before realizing everyone wasn't talking about Rebel Galaxy. I was so confused why we would be comparing a space arcade sim with an rpg.

haha, rogue legacy, rogue galaxy rebel galaxy are all confusing, i get confused myself sometimes

The dungeon design is definitely terrible

And if anybody read the op they wouldn't be recommend the trash that is DC2

DC2 = Trash? Troll detected.

Dungeon crawlers are what they are. Give it a rest already.

I had Dark Cloud 2 as a kid and loved everything about it except the dungeons. I just can't with over long, sterile, repetitive, randomly generated, boring-ass level design. If you're gonna make dungeon crawling a big part of your game, then you really can't half ass it. This goes for you too, Persona.

Dark cloud 2 is somewhat flawed, but you can give it a good go and find a great game.

RG is a game of incredible potential that is ultimately a completely boring piece of garbage.

It is a "why did I waste a chunk of my life playing this, now I feel terrible" experience. Think of it like playing through the entire assassins creed series, twice.

Even though it looks beautiful and the production values are stellar...i cant really disagree, even though i went in with high expectations coming off of DC2 at the time

While I enjoyed both games immensely, Rogue Galaxy's combat kept me more engaged when I look back. Also, you can't see the fish in DC2 the way you could in DC1. The grind is real for both titles, though, so choose whichever one looks good to you.
