How did I miss this news. I am excited.

So, this looks to be the trooper people reported seeing on the toy packaging?

Please be good?

Well if its not it wont hurt Star Wars as a brand, the spinoffs can afford to be mixed

Ep 7 had all the pressure on this, this one I honestly dont think does to the same extent, if it sucks, meh, new Anthology film coming with a new director and none of the old cast or baggage outside of a little cannon that may or may not be relevant.

Vader and Fett were the two going around. Since James Earl Jones did Star Wars Rebels, he seems game for the whole thing. I was kind of surprised when I saw the clip of him from Rebels.

Papa Palpatine would be friggin' awesome.

I hope we see the transformation from laughing happy Sheev to angry miserable Sheev after the plans were stolen.

If I had to guess, I think we'll see a teaser for Episode 8 in front of Rogue One in December. Then again, I thought the first Rogue One trailer would debut for Civil War.

I'm pretty sure we're gonna get the Ep VIII teaser in November. Mainline SW trailer premieres are already events unto themselves.

Will Gareth Edwards pull this off? Place your bets right here!
I'm obviously expecting this to be good, but I'd gladly welcome another RT thread meltdown if it happens to be bad.

Shit, I wouldn't complain if we get it earlier. I'm staying away from spoilers, but I've decided that I can't stay away from trailers. I can't stay "unsullied".

I hope he can actually direct a cast this time. I aint worried about the visuals.

This is, and has always been, the primary worry with this film. I'm not sweating the script much: Whitta, Weitz, & McQuarrie is a decent enough pipeline for a story to travel through. And I'm not worried about the cast, which is pretty easily the best cast ever assembled for a Star Wars movie, point blank.

I'm worried that Edwards is just going to completely strand all these actors like he's stranded every single other actor he's ever worked with in the two movies he's made.

I'm doubtful. They seem pretty concerned about cutting down audience confusion by making completely sure each film gets its own marketing window and they do not overlap at any point. The DAY after the blu-ray drops (cycle is done) they announce a commercial for their first commercial coming the next day.

It's probably gonna stay like that going forward.

We wont see any ep 8 teasers til Rogue one is out, they already have a bit of a mountain to climb to get across to the average joe what this movie is and that it is not the next installment, then as to why they should even care about it if it took place before the OT in a specific time without any of the main heroes.

An ep 8 trailer would only confuse marketing more.

I agree

For some reason I thought Kasdan was involved with this, but looks like that's not the case. That was the hope I was hanging to that it would be decent. Yikes.

Dec undercuts a lot of my excitement for the film. I think a strong script could help Edwards out (he didn't have a lot to work with in Godzilla, but up until Cranson's exit it wasn't bad), but now I'm worried.

I still cant believe that i'm celebrating my birthday at the movie theaters twice in a row, it's like i'm 8 again!

Same. Waaaaayyyyy more excited about this.

Wait wait wait. I need to clarify; I was more excited about TFA, to the point I didn't need to see more footage. That said, this is a much "weirder" movie presumably, thus I'm cool with seeing as much as I can :P

Kasdan only wrote TFA and Young Han Solo.

Weitz gave us THE KLUMPS and ABOUT A BOY. this film is in excellent hands.

...being serious though i enjoy about a boy at least. and i imagine mcquarrie punched up the script quite a bit.

I wonder how much freedon writers have over scripts for Star Wars movies now and how much they had to do what the story group tells them.
