also, apart from kar-wai's/di-duk's joints and a few other hollywood ones this always got to me:

i think i am the only person on the planet who liked it better than my sassy girl. haven't seen either in years though, so maybe my opinion would have changed.

Nothing else comes close. Having said that, all of his other films are great too, especially Annie Hall.

Chasing Amy is another great contender in this category.

Somewhere in Time.

Maybe because seeing Christopher Reeve in his prime, and then thinking about Superman Returns while watching, it was too much for me to handle.

+1 for Annie Hall, Adventureland, Beginners, Manhattan, Eternal Sunshine... , and 5 Centimeters per Second.

I love, Love Actually. Although thats surely its intended purpose. I fall for it every time.

Wicker Park actually makes me tear up out of happiness for those fuckers @ the end.

edit;

Hell ya Punch Drunk Love.

But I'm in love with Sandlers struggle in the film, i can relate, and its a good love story. Think its more about him finally coming out of that shell due to wuv.

girl next door never pulled on my heartstrings, but it def is a dope film. never understood why its so underrated/didn't bring in $$$.
Y'all didn't think Emile Hirsch, the male lead, looked uncannily like a male version of Elisha Cuthbert?

(I'd go with Before Sunset, Before Sunrise, 500 Days of Summer, Love & Other Drugs, Eternal Sunshine, and Notting Hill in some order. I guess I'm a sucker for romantic movies.)

Blue Valentine is a fantastic movie and it hits hard. I highly recommend it. Warning though, it is not your typical happy romance movie.

Room in Rome
Fucking Amal
Whispers of the Heart
The Princess Bride
Legend
The Last Unicorn

I just realized I need to get The Last Unicorn on Bluray.

(Ok so Cinema Paradiso is really about love for the cinema, but it counts!)

I found Brokeback Mountain touching but have only seen it once on release and don't remember it terribly well.

I'm not that much into romantic films but I really like Pride & Prejudice with Keira Knightley. Knightley looks beauitful in that movie and the soundtrack is just amazing. I even bought the cd.

:)

Literally cried myself to sleep after this movie. I rewatch it every once in a while </3

(mainly for the side stories, especially the mad dash through London at the end)

Seconding Voices of a Distant Star

Groundhog Day and Lost In Translation are great movies, but they never plucked the heart strings, Bill Murray is just too absurd for that to work :)

Kiera Knightly was so good in Atonement.

Your link is as broken as your heart.

Also, Never Let Me Go was kind of disappointing to me. I had been anticipating it forever. The trailer was more moving than the film. That's what you get when you use 'Reprise' from The Door in the Floor.

You won't have seen anything like it. The ending scene is pretty clever, you almost dont notice it

What did you not like about it? I thought Carey Mulligan was fantastic in it. The sorrow was constantly written on her face.

The book is way better.
