To each his own, and the game clearly has a few issues... but those graphics are most certainly not one of them.
Yeah most streamers say it looks great

I'm guessing since they are reviewing it based on the EA Access version and not a pre-release code that would require them to adhere to such an embargo.
I don't have time to watch the review but the only thing I want to know is if the multiplayer is turn based because that's the best.
I think I get what he's talking about though. There's a bit of a weird effect when there is a lot of tall grass and the camera is moving. It's usually easily ignored.
We can easily nitpick grass, but to call this game's Frostbite powered golf (with no load times mind you) "hideous" is more than a bit of a stretch.

Would look even better if they added some overcast, cloudy and or rain imo. As you would see more details instead of brightness everywhere.
Rumor is that Tiburon will be adding weather in via DLC, but again, we're all waiting for confirmation.
Patel said that once the game's released, he'll be able to talk more about their plans. While I'm hopeful... I'm not holding my breath.
Wonder if it will be free stuff or grossly overpriced. I really like the trial, but at the same time im guessing this will be vaulted by years end.Rumor is that Tiburon will be adding weather in via DLC, but again, we're all waiting for confirmation.

Yep, the 10 hours with EA Access. The game is publicly available so anyone would be free to talk about their time with that.
You play with people at the same time. They actually render your opponents on the course, and you have a time limit to complete each hole. It sounds decent in theory but in practice the online is a miserable experience - with golfers popping in suddenly and/or vanishing off screen, it's just a distraction. End up seeing stuff like this: http://gfycat.com/JampackedAccurateDorado, which isn't helpful when you're trying to line up a put for instance. It was better just seeing shot arcs. Plus there's no crowd sounds or commentary.

"Weather systems are also a big focus so that courses can take on a very different aspect, and challenge, as the clouds roll in."
That was from mid-June previews...so what happened?
The game isn't finished. Not enough courses, not enough features. This is just like their awful NHL release, another of their sports franchises that had a year off for the next-gen transition and still came in short of even the most reasonable expectations.
So here is what we know...
1) downloadable courses
Here is what we don't know.
1) downloadable characters (male)
2) downloadable characters (female)
3) weather system DLC
4) game modes DLC
5) equipment DLC
Answers to these would go a long way.
I ended up preordering, PS4. I have $47.99 with best buys gamers club. I hate giving them money without any concrete content promises, but I wanted the extra course and miss my EA golf.
On another note, preordering online was a massive pain and I couldn't find a single store in 200 miles that would let me preorder. I got on the chat and the customer service said that the Houston area's preorder allotment was gone. Not sure if that means they didn't buy a lot of them, or if people are all over this
I've only had this happen once with Best Buy and it was earlier this year with Dying Light. Decided to order last minute and it wasn't available anywhere. For some reason Best Buy's online pre-order stock seems to be different than the stock if you were to have walked in store and placed a pre-order that way.
I think a lot of people, myself included, hoped that this game could be really gorgeous on the new consoles, but the low detail on the trees and their shadows gives a bad first impression and the blatant pop-in/out while the camera follows the ball is distracting. The character models and grass look nice enough, and I appreciate the options to accommodate for different play styles, but one of my favorite things about playing golf is taking in the beautiful landscaping and scenery around the course, and this game appears to fail in simulating this experience. Maybe there is a day one patch on the way that will optimize some of the pop-in, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I could give the EA Access demo a try to see if it looks a bit better than the videos appear, or just wait until it's deeply discounted to buy it.
I hate to sound like a graphics-first kind of person, and usually I'm not terribly critical about visuals in games, but I really want a pretty looking golf game I can play at home and I was hoping that this game would scratch that itch.

And just to further muddy the water and keep us guessing, they actually fixed NHL 15 post release.
Well I wouldn't go that far. They fixed a lot of glaring issues like no post-game three star selection or no coaching feedback - but they still have a lot of things missing from past games.
I received my copy from Amazon a day early and the menu only has two options. Play round and prologue. I thought I needed to complete the prologue to open up the game, but still nothing. Anyone else having this issue?
Has it fully installed? It might be still pulling from the disc.
Says its done. Maybe I'll try deleting and install again.
It's "done" enough to the point you can play a bit of the game while the rest continues to be installed. Hit "Options" when over the game on the menu, then properties (I think) and see how much HD space it's taking up. If it's a surprisingly small number, it's not done installing.
I did check that. I'm playing on a PS4 and it typically shows the progress when installing, but it just shows the total size which is 29-ish gb. I tried re-installing and I have the same issue. It does seem to install far too quickly for 30gb. May just try to return with Amazon since it seems to be broken on release.
I have the PS4 version and am able to access all options just fine, so in the most general of senses, it's not broken. You absolutely positive it's fully installed? You check to see if there are any updates you need to download?
The nice setting is a huge part of why I go out and play golf on weekends, and it's a huge part of a golf game. Nothing at all odd about wanting your golf game to be pretty. It's known as 'A good walk spoiled' for a reason.
Anyone that preordered notice any difference on PS4 in terms of performance?

I played the EA Access version last week on Xbox One. I just played three rounds of the PS4 version (digitally pre-ordered). Same shitty performance on PS4 that I saw on Xbox One. Same shitty graphics

Pretty telling review there, and the reviewer doesn't really address my biggest problem with the game... it's lack of feel!
The word is that the PS4 version is 180p higher resolution than the XB1 version. What hasn't been confirmed is whether it's 720p Vs 900p, or 900p Vs. 1080p. Can you gauge that now that you've seen them both?
I didn't preorder because the time I spent with the XB1 version showed me the game doesn't have anywhere near the level of feel I crave in the swing interface. It's a "fill the power circle and flick the stick forward" twitch-fest, even in Tour difficulty mode. A lot was made of the tempo dependent swing interface; when in practice it's much closer to a twitch dependent interface... (sigh)

Meh, they also gave one of the best games of this gen, Driveclub, a poor score and that got even better with additional content so I'm in for this. Plus, online with friends this surely cannot be anything but fun, and I'll be playing it predominantly with friends so!
