Rosario Dawson Joins Marvel's Daredevil

I really think you are wrong.

Her primary association is with Daredevil. Quicksilver is a mutant and Magneto's own son, yet he's just as associated with Avengers as he is anything else... And here he is in an Avengers movie. Mary's ties to Daredevil are FAR stronger and more clear cut.

She was also on Henry Gyrich's Avengers Initiative team for a bit during Dark Reign, so yeah, that one might be a little hazy.

But I'm in the Elektra or Kirsten McDuffie camp.

Awesome that she's involved but this might be a miscast. She would have been a great Misty Knight.

Agggggh, man that is going to fester. Can't unsee the perfection.

I think the description in the casting note fits Kirsten and Mary better than Echo or Elektra. It really does sound like Kirsten or mayyyybe Karen, but I choose to remain irrationally optimistic about Typhoid Mary. She's Marvel's Two-Face...I'd love to see a "Harvey Dent" arc in this format, and she could really sell the split personalities. And the fire. <3 <3 <3

I don't even know who she's playing, but I'm very ok with this. Except...

Wonder if Elektra
Elektra is one of those characters whose's ethnicity is actually important, so I hope not.

She could play an incredible Kirsten McDuffie, however. That character is RIGHT UP her alley.

Edit:

SHIT FUCK COCK

It wouldn't be the first time someone didn't give a shit about that

Let's not go there.

Cool, I like Rosario Dawson.

Why is it important?

Her story before becoming an assassin is deeeeply intertwined with Greek politics dating back to the Junta days (father is an ambassador, lots of dirty plots leading to terrorist attacks and kidnappings etc.) Besides, her name is Elektra Natchios, which is as Greek as it gets. It wouldn't make any sense unless they magically fixed her a black mom. Besides, she's probably the only Greek hero not called Hercules. She deserves as much.

I would love this

So much

I'd hate this. I think Daredevil's identity being blown would be great second or third season stuff. In a perfect world where I could steer the DD Tv series. The first season would be a lot of world building. I don't want it be too dark and gritty like late 80s early 90s NYC. But modern Hell's Kitchen. Which may make it hard to focus on Frank Miller's stuff but it would be fun seeing it attempted. I'd want there to be references to the yellow suit, but it's not necessary. the first few episodes should focus on Matt being a defence lawyer and maybe a bit bromantic with him and Foggy. I don't wanna focus too much on the more fantastical villains, I want there to be rumours of a Kingpin of crime that controls all crime in NYC. I want Kingpin and Bullseye to be introduced later on in a season and as for his identity being revealed. I think that would be awesome second season stuff. Just copy and paste Bendis' run.

Her description in the OP pretty much rules out Elektra.

Rosario Dawson will play a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city.

That doesn't exactly scream 'assassin'.

Black people can't be Greek? Racist! :O

How many seasons of this are we going to get though? I just think the version of Daredevil with a secret identity is really outdated; I'd rather see them start with Bendis and then if they keep getting renewed, give us the Brubaker and Waid runs. That's a ton of material to get through.

Really, it should have its own identity; the best Marvel movies bring new, exciting spins to classic stories. The best possible Daredevil series brings concepts from all the great runs together. I just like the idea of a super hero struggling with exposure the way Bendis approached it, and the way Brubaker and Waid followed up on it. He hasn't had a secret identity in, what, fifteen years? And Daredevil comics are still some of the best books on the shelf. It'd be refreshing...but I'll grant you that it'd be a better ending to the first episode than a beginning. ;)

how does he know shes teasing him like this if hes blind??
Is he pretending?
He basically has echo-location. Lost one sight, gained another. She knows he can see it but that he can't react to it.

McDuffie seems completely awesome, and I could totally see that type of troll personality being perfect for Dawson.

What's the story with the Nefllix series anyways? It seems like they're producing them in this order:

Daredevil
Jessica Jones
Luke Cage
Iron Fist
Defenders

And from the sounds of things, they're gearing up to start filming Daredevil next month-and then onto Jessica Jones. So does this mean it's one season each? Because if they are only doing production on one series at a time, I don't see a Daredevil Series 2 for a long time.

I was assuming it's mostly concurrent.

I think Marvel should think that it can go for at least 5 seasons, the secret identity thing I think should last no longer than a season but the thing about Daredevil is you can miss out on some great stories if you start of with him being unmasked quickly. This combined with the fact you have so much to potentially focus upon, Matt's lovelife, his secret identity, his legal practice, his bromance with Foggy etc means you don't need to rush and you can do great adaptations of stuff like Miller and Kevin Smith's run. Also you have stories like Daredevil:Redemption which focuses pretty much only on Murdock, DD doesn't really make an appearance and slower paced stuff like that would make for an awesome mid season stand alone episode or two.The thing about starting straight with Bendis is that there's at least a good season's worth of stuff that can really flush out the DD universe adn hell's kitchen. Stuff like DD dealing with Karen Page and how shit all goes south for her, Bullseye and Kingpin progressively fucking with him, really build up the Elektra and Matt relationship without having a shitty fight in a playground, imagine how much worst Matt's life gets with each season.

Season 1: Explore the DD universe maybe have a bit about his Dad, lead into the Kingpin. Focus on shit from Frank Miller's run maybe conclude with Kevin Smith's run.

Season 2: Bendis' run. A few episodes on how his identity is worked out. Then his identity is revealed. The next season. Maybe a bit on the Hand, Possibly introduce Bullseye around here if not at season 1.

Season 3: Brubaker onwards

I spent way too much time typing this.
