As a guy who somehow likes the Alpha series more than Third Strike, this game is a wet dream.
Pimpbaa said:That's why we won't see any or few SF3 characters in 4. As good as the game was, it just didn't have many likeable characters.

Raging Spaniard said:Awesome! If you look at the rows it looks like theres a row per game, for instance
Top row: Super Street Fighter characters
Middle rows: SF 2 characters
Second to last row: New characters
Last row: Alpha characters
If they add another row, that would be SF 3 characters, thats my guess :O
bafflewaffle said:If they add another row it would make the grid asymmetrical. But if they add two rows...
That why i said a shoto.Teknopathetic said:"They should add a SF3 row and you have the best 3D fighting game ever conceived
Axel, Urien and Makoto(They love shotos )"
You've got Streets of Rage in my Street Fighter.
Also, what Skilletor said. Though technically she's not a "shoto" in the SF sense, I do believe she fights similar to actual Shotokan karate or some such.
Fersis said:That why i said a shoto.
Ok, sorry thenBaiano19 said:But she´s not a shoto in SF lingo, so that´s why people misunderstood what you said...
primarily as Ryu, should have kept playing as Ken, but I tried Sagat, Blanka, and the new girl with the feux hawk.Star Power said:Wow, is it really that good? I'm gonna go play it on Tuesday... who did you play as?
More like archetypes than stereotypes, the game was successful because of its international appeal, SFIII ruined that, and till this day I still prefer SFII and the alphas over SFIII.Zophar said:Black guy with great rhythm and break-dances to jungle beats
Indian guy that wears feathers and dresses like Billy Jack
Granted Street Fighter isn't exactly the paragon of political-correctness, but IMO those two are just a wee bit over the top.
MoxManiac said:Timeline wise SF2 and 3 aren't that far apart anyways. Maybe like 5 years?
Ono is just worried that those scary sf3 characters will chase off the lapsed sf2 fans he's so desperately trying to woo over.
this game feels nothing like EX, nothing at all. Its more in line with SFII+ Alpha, with added wake ups.The Take Out Bandit said:Ono's a f@cking douchebag.
It really is Street Fighter EX + Alpha! :O
you should, and there still are counters... just a bit different than 3's.KiNeSiS said:I to am an alpha fan....
The counters were the only thing I really liked about sf3 besides a few characters & the godly animation & sprites...!
I am hatin' on all you assholes who got to play it =(
I'll prob have to wait for a home release, I should just go to NYC fuck it!

The Take Out Bandit said:Will find out via Gamefly, but I'm doubting it will be worth keeping. I can just buy SF2HDR for half the price, less shitty character roster, and slightly less hideous visuals.
Sorry Capcom, you lost me when you sold SF out to the 3D shiny / pretty crowd. Nothing about this game is hyping me up, and that's a shame because the character sketches from SF3 pre-game release had me stroking my peeny.
King of Fighters 12 can't arrive soon enough. The only 2D fighter that is worth getting my stroke on over these days.
you just need to play it, admittedly I was excited about the game before heading to austin, but the game plays extremely well, to the point of me being surprised, and it looks even better in person. If you have an arcade near by or know that you will be passing one on a trip, give it a chance. I just don't see how a street fighter fan can truly be disappointed with it after playing it. I can understand people having a preference for one of the past games, because different strokes for different folks, but there is no doubt, the game is of capcom's top quality. This isn't fighters jam, or SF EX, this should be considered in their upper tier. The Take Out Bandit said:Will find out via Gamefly, but I'm doubting it will be worth keeping. that sucks man, well... just saying save final judgement till you play it. I truly love fighters, in terms of 2d fighters I play the SNK and capcom stuff, and its of great quality. I worried about the game being floaty because of the 3d, but it feels very much 2-d. I also really like how the 3d can give some characters weight, especially Akuma, because when he entered for the first time you can just feel that he is powerful. A little slower than before but powerful. The Take Out Bandit said:Unfortunately I live in North America, so the closest arcade to me was closed at some point in the past year. :lol
I was going to swing by and see if they had SF4 in there, but when I got there the windows had "for lease" signs where the Namco arcade used to be. :\

just dont dig the artstyle? because technically it looks impressive, the facial expressions add alot of character. Can't say much about the roster, as thats a love hate relationship. The Take Out Bandit said:Yeah, I don't have any of those concerns as I've never had issues with 3D fighting games. Where SF is full of fail is in the visual department and character selection.
They could put a wang on Crimson Viper and I still wouldn't want to play it. :|
robut said:I don't get the bitching, people were fine when the top and bottom rows were missing. Game had great word of mouth and then reviews (the 9 in edge for instance). The game looks fucking great, among the best Street Fighters ever and now people bitch because of extra stuff? WTF guys.
Damn :lolvag 2.0 said:It's the internet: lots of people who wear 40" waist khaki shorts and XL Zelda shirts will complain about anything, in the most knee-jerk reactionary style, whether they have played it or not.
I haven't kept up with this as much as many people, but I believe that going for a "truly new feeling" is the exact opposite of what they're trying to do here. I've always thought the point was to have all the old familiar characters to pull back in the SF2 fans from ages ago.AMUSIX said:That's the problem here. As blasphemous it would be to drop one of the original 8/12, it would have made for a truly new feeling SF roster instead of the SF2 roster with extra characters.
Drop Balrog for Dudley...or drop Zangief for Alex...or even drop Guile (gasp!) in favor of Makoto.
...Router said:If you knew what was going on in the rest of the pic you would change your mind. :lol
PM sent anyway.
Spiderjericho said:I'm just surprised by the number of characters. They've added a half dozen new ones in the last week (Gen, Cammy, Dan, Fei Long, Seth and Rose).
So many options...and the Japanese tier list is about to be thrown in disarray.
And due to the 3D nature of the game...I hope they skip the yearly increment and go for five, which explains what happened in Three.
But if you're listening Capcom, I wouldn't be too pissed off about a $30 rerelease like Lost Planet with new content.

haunts said:Yeah my biggest concern is not the actual characters themselves, but the fact that none of them have received much play testing. Right now the game in its current state is pretty well balanced and Id hate for a couple of the new characters to be horribly overpowered.
Would love this!Zophar said:Give 4 slots, a selection of Ibuki, Dudley, Makoto and Alex would probably satisfy every fan imaginable.
All the more reason to include them...makes it seem like there are that many more new charactersGanondorfo said:A lot of people I know never heard of third strike, they think the third street fighter is alpha 3, that's why capcom maybe didn't use third strike characters...
The only thing here I have is if you pull timeline then how are all the zombies back in the game? I am happy with the roster, but I think the lack of TS characters is a big oversight.brendanrfoley said:Personally, I love the addition of Rose.
Looking at the character select screen (from top to bottom), there is a row representing SSF2T Fei Long, Cammy, Akuma) 2 rows representing SF2 (the original eight), a row representing SF2:CE (the bosses), SF4 (new characters) and SFA (Sakura, Rose, Dan, Gen).
It's a great character roster. I understand people are upset about the lack of SF3 characters, but if this sells well enough, there will be a Street Fighter 5. And I'm confident we'll see a good handful of 3S characters in that.
Timeline wise, Makoto, Yun and Yang aren't even teenagers yet.

Why is this a viable argument? Do you seriously believe that if they included those characters people would find the experience so jarring that they wouldn't enjoy the game as much? Who cares about stories in fighting games?brendanrfoley said:Personally, I love the addition of Rose.
