Rose revealed for SF4 (roster complete?)

Rose, clearly the deepest and most satisfying character in a Street Fighter game!

...I'd be perfectly fine with the idea of relying on alternate outfits if they were anything but joke / fanservice stuff (which, so far, is all I've seen them be). I have this terrible feeling that Sakura's alternate outfit will be more ridiculous than her still wearing her uniform.
Super Gem Fighters Mini Mix had some neat costumes; I'd love to see Sakura again in a Playboy bunny outfit, or Chun-Li in Jill's Valentine's STARS uniform.

This game started out looking like a Street Fighter II remake. Now it became a Street fighter II vs Alpha.

I'm not really impressed, and I'm not really interested.

Mmm, yes, the people that disliked those will obviously LOVE characters like Seth, El Fuerte, and Rufus.
Yeah, but isn't the reason simply because this takes place before 3?

Street Fighter 5, man. Part 3 had the coolest characters out there PLUS the classics.

Sakura is too obsessed with striving to fight like Ryu to buy new clothes.

I want to reaffirm that I'm very happy about Rose being in it. She doesn't just have her own cool fighting style but is an interesting character as well with a unique relation to everything. Her moves should be pretty cool in 3D as well.

Hypothetically if they were to add a 3rd Strike 'Row' which characters would get your vote?

I would have to say:
1. Ibuki - Unique moves, awesome character design and fun to play as.
2. Alex - Great mix of power and finesse and was SF3s main character.
3. Makoto - Same as Ibuki

The 4th I am torn on. While I would say Elena I would feel sad that Dudley did not make it, but at the same time I think she has a more unique style then Dudley and would be a better fit.

.

1. Makoto. Love the design, moves, and she's only appeared in one game.
2. Yang. Don't like the character too much, but he's always overshadowed by Yun so he needs some play time.
3. Oro. Again don't like the character, but it would lead into Ryu being mentored by him. Also he's a total badass.

When are people going to realize that SF3's cast was awful and really wasn't even tolerable until Third Strike came along?

I get the feeling that a lot of you guys only started caring about SF3 when that Daigo video came out.

Awful? Explain how the 2nd impact cast "wasn't even tolerable".

you are a poop and a penis.
Alex, Elena, Ibuki and Dudley were all in the SF3 O.G. '2' added Urien and Hugo. and '3' chun li, makoto, akuma and Q.... I think.

That's enough awesome characters who could/should carry over into other games. even from the first sf3.

New generation's cast was fine. Alex, Dudley, Elena, Yun, and Yang were all fine designs for SF. The "freak" arguement is so patently untrue. In NG it's basically Oro, Necro, and maybe Gill.

And of course 2nd impact introduced my favorite 3 series character, Urien!

When are people going to realize that much of SFII's cast owes more of their longevity to their game's place in history than being good characters? Is anyone REALLY a big E. Honda, Blanka, or Dhalsim fan? Do you think if they didn't appear there would be people clamoring for their appearance anywhere near as much as people who want 3S to have a few representatives?

Akuma was in 2nd. Remy and Twelve were also added in 3rd.

ah, my memory is a little fuzzy. been some time since I played those two earlier releases. But I should have guessed akuma since I mainly play him. *blush*

The only 3s characters I'd be interested in seeing are Dudley and Elena...okay Alex too.

The rest of the cast needs a rather huge overhaul either because they're too damn good(Makoto, Yun) or they're too damn shitty (Sean, Twelve).

While we're at let's dump Akuma too. Fuck that guy. Most overrated character in SF history.

This reads kind of strange, but if you're asking if Abel has an elbow launcher move, he does.

That's what I mean. Nevermind then. When he jumps up and does the stretchy arm attack I first thought, "omg, Necro!" but then realized it's probably Dhalsim. I was thinking sense he kinda looks like Urien and has that elbow there was a connection.

Original SF3 ten > original SF2 eight, imo.

I just found New Generation's cast more appealing than SF2's racial stereotypes (not counting nostalgia of course).

Meh, they were all pretty much "competent" characters that were obviously analagous to SF2 characters in an attempt to be both different and appeal to the fanbase at the same time. The problem is that so few of them actually had any thought or real charisma to them. All of their stories are barely fleshed out, even through the entire SF3 cycle. It also is worth mentioning that many of the characters didn't really "mature" until Third Strike, moveset wise.

Don't get me wrong, I like the SF3 cast well enough (Dudley is one of my all-time faves) but overall they don't hold a candle to the originals or even the additions from Alpha.

Fair enough, but what exactly makes the originals so much better aside from nostalga? Hell, as an avid Zangief player for god knows how many years, i'll be the first to admit his actual character design sucks major ass. Seriously, there is nothing better about the likes of Honda, Blanka, Sim, Boxer, or whatever. The original SF2 cast is a holdover from the 80s beat em up era that was full of generic, cheesy stereotypes and archetypes.

Capcom forcing SF2 into the polygonal era has polarized the anti-SF3 contingent.

They seem to be mistaking Capcom's desperate attempt to capture lightning in a bottle with some false claim to the validity that SF2 is somehow tangibly superior to SF3, despite the fact SF3 thrived in an era that even SF2 would have difficulty surviving in. Arcades in ruins, and mostly closed up in North America - home console as good if not better than the average arcade unit, etc.

Capcom needs to ditch the bullshit "story" and just make a Street Fighter game that includes every past SF character and adds new characters to the mix, and it needs to be hand drawn as a formal apology for this 3D abomination.

They know it's not better, it's just more popular. It's what people remember, and quite frankly, with simpler mechanics, more people will be able to enjoy it.

Stop crying and go play SF3 with the tiny contingent of hardcore fanboys. And have fun, don't get me wrong! I like SF3. But this is the direction they are taking, and it's completely logical. This is far from an abomination, you're just too jaded.

I don't get it. You're from the OLD SKOOL! with your polygon hate, but you're also from the NEW SKOOL! with your ignorance towards SF2 and Alpha. That's some double hardcore extreme bullshit right there.

You seem to be retarded, not mistaken.

Where have I said I want SF4 to play like SF3?

I want more SF3 characters in the game.

They're certainly no worse than the four new scrubs in SF4.

I was playing SF2 back in the arcades when most of you retards were in your god damn diapers.

And you know what?

We don't have a time machine. We can't go back in time and re-live that era.

Only thing I agree with you on is as an entry in the series, SFA was pretty shitty in terms of scrub friendly game design. I liked a lot of the characters in SFA, but the fighting engine can go eat a dick.

While I'd love to hear more about this "scrub friendly game design" (lol) I'm just gonna point out that you should play SF4 before whinging about the characters and art style. Because you know, nobody cares about this imaginary game you've dreamed up in your head. Play SF4 and if you know what you're talking about and have something to say about it, then talk.

Anyway, I didn't really know anything about Rose until last year when I saw Justin Wong use her. She seems like a good counter for characters like Sagat, or anyone who can lock down with fireballs. Thinking about it, they probably won't give her any custom combos, most likely an anti air ultra and I guess an auto combo for the super.

edit: nvm >_>
