I saw him on Inside the Actors Studio and he seemed cool there. I never really thought of how he was basically growing up with some of the most talented actors in the world around him, but he mentioned what it was like to grow up and work with people like Alan Rickman, Richard Harris, Gary Oldman, etc. Pretty interesting.

My choice of Bellatrix while reading the books was Helena Bonham Carter. 1:1 to Bengraven.
Haha, same. My brain went "Helena Bonham Carter! Wait, is she British? Yes! They'll totally pick her for this!

I think the only ones that were in HBP were
House of Gaunt, the sea cave area, and Tom meeting Dumbledore for the first time. I think the rest were, largely, covered in DH

Ok then
then they only left out the House of Gaunt. Voldemort flashbacks we saw: Dumbledore meeting Tom Riddle for the first time in the orphanage. Riddle at a Slughorn dinner party and the edited memory of him asking Slughorn about the Horcruxes. Then the real memory. So 3 flashbacks iirc.

I thought Slughorn was cast good. Can't really remember him from the book (guess I need a reread), but Broadbent did a great job.

Narcissa Malfoy was kinda forgettable...might be that she shared most of her scenes with Bellatrix though.

I'm surprised there's so much Azkaban love. It did a lot of stuff well, but it felt like it was missing a whole lot of important information for itself and the later movies. The patronus stuff working like a forcefield, all the backstory about his father and the map, the unexplained reason why Harry thought his father saved him...it's the only one I looked up on Wiki afterwards to see what the hell was going on. A lot of backstory and motivation for the characters was glossed over that has yet to be revisited, and it's detrimental to the ability of the movies to stand on their own.

I think PoA nailed so many of the big elements (visuals, acting, music, pacing, pulling off a competent time travel plot, emphasis on the proper emotional cores) that people are willing to give a pass on some of the finer plot details (like the origins of the Marauder map).

As I was scrolling down that huge picture...

"Bare skin! Bare skin! Bare skin! Awwwww!"

I'm really looking forward to this film now. There is a 'behind the scenes' program on now and I only just found out that Fenrir Greyback is played by an MMA fighter (Dave Legeno). The sets, costumes, effects, actors and the atmosphere of the film look great. Can't wait.

Children of Men seemed like it had the same problems. It certainly looked great, but after leaving the theater, I was left with lots of questions. Alfonso Cuaron is a lot more concerned with visuals than substance, so his movies just leave me frustrated.

so from the IMBD listing they cut out the
Dursleys again. It made some sense in the 4th mvoie to cut them, but I'm kind of disappointed. I really liked the Dursley moment at the start of book 6. Hope they come back for book 7. Richard Griffiths is great as Vernon.
What? Vernon is in the trailer, I thought. He shouts to Dumbledore "These are mad times we're living in!"

I didn't get that at all from Children of Men, because everything important to the plot was in there. I had questions about the world and its history, as anyone else would, but never felt it harmed the story.

Another thing about the film was that everything the viewer experiences is through the eyes of Clive Owen's character. We are not supposed to be privy to anything outside of what he sees and knows. When his story ends, the movie ends.

The thing I can't get past with the early films is the acting. It's simply awful. I tried to watch PoA today, and had to switch over because Danial Radcliffe and Emma Watson were unbearable. Such a shame, the locations and music are fantastic.

They get a bit better in the fourth and fifth film though, hopefully even better for this one.

Is Voldy in the film much?

This was my favorite book partly because Voldemort didn't make an appearance despite being at large, except in flashbacks. He was more of an underlying presence behind all the evil events taking place, I hope they don't change that.

What good about this series, is that mostly everyone who is going to see these movies (which is OODLES of people) have read the books. So generally, unless cutting things to make it fit time wise, they won't need to change things for people who haven't read the series because the general market, which as I said is huge, has read them.

So usually here I would say that they would throw him in somewhere for the viewers, but I generally think that they will stick to the book.

I don't think he makes bad movies, they just leave me wanting. I've never read Children of Men, so I have no idea if it fleshes out the universe more, but I felt the movie was lacking. It sure looked cool, though.

This will actually be the first HP film I watch at the theater. I'm looking forward to it, gonna go there with a couple of friends.

No Voldemort in the book = no Voldemort in the film

But tons of backstory. So to speak. They cut a good portion of some of the backstory but you'll still learn things.

Goddamn, what a hot daddy.

I'm seriously starting to geek out in anticipation of this film. I wasn't even that bothered a couple of months back.

Paul Giamatti is jazzed. Look at him.

Wanting more is not a bad thing. It's usually a good thing. CoM was a success in that he accomplished what he wanted. He wanted there to be lots of questions but everything relevant to the story of the film was explained. And also style can be the substance. That's something people forget. Guillermo Del Toro tends to specialize in that.

I didn't feel creepy 8 years ago.

Fuck me, im watching that making of that was shown two days ago. It's so embarassing to watch. Presenter is annoying as hell.

she looks so good in the burberry ads. can hardly recognize her

Really? Looks like her to me.

Other than the hair, the only obvious difference from her normal look is the eye makeup. She has pretty dark eyes and eyebrows, so to offset them ... they gave her some similarly dark eyeliner and shadow.

just got done watching Goblet of Fire. It still just tugs at the ol' heartstrings when Cedrics dad realizes that he's dead and just wails...

Almost brought me to tears, I won't lie.

Moreso than any other death in the series (which I've been largely indifferent towards).

I didn't care for the 4th movie, but that scene was very well done. Actually the entire last act, from the entry into the maze to the end was pretty good.

I, for one, greatly enjoyed GoF. I'd say it's my #2 Potter film, behind PoA. Dunno why it gets so much hate.

That whole last part was great.
