Yeah, I really just want it on PSN, or a re-release on gog.com, since I can't be arsed to mess around with the game again to have it run in Windows 7. I did manage to make it run fine in XP by copying both discs to my HDD or some weird workaround like that.

You don't need to mess around. Copy both discs to your HDD and load it up through ScummVM. No configuring, no farting about, ScummVM just runs it.

I have a feeling 100,000 will be the 'magic number'. In their statement you can tell they're happy but are implying they want more people to sign. 100k sounds like it would be a good number, doesn't it?

Yes, it does. Hopefully it's achievable within a reasonable timeframe.

But Namco knows about and has acknowledged the petition so it seems like the best bet. We get to 100k and I think we have a good chance.
I'm not saying people shouldn't sign the petition (I did), I'm just saying that they should also join the Steam group. It's much more proof against duplicates and fake entries, and shows a clear intent to buy.

I... don't get this. New meme or what? What else would a platform that mostly only publishes games be for?

Steam sales cause people to buy fifty billion times as many games as they ever actually play. It happens every big sale, always and forever. It's the running joke that Steam gamers don't actually play the games they buy. A joke very much rooted in reality for a not insignificant number of people.

But what if I shatter both of my legs and I'm unable to leave the house for 6 months? Then, I look like a genius.

Meh, everyone has a backlog regardless of platform.

A backlog numbering in the hundreds?

Steam sales make it easy to buy a couple dozen games every big sale (of which there are at least three a year) for less than ten, or even five, bucks each. You can't really do that on any other platform.

There are cheap deals for every platform and non-Steam games. It's not like they gave Skyrim for 5 bucks. It's usually older or already cheaper, indie, etc, games that go that far down. Gog's whole library is under 10, doesn't mean they get massive sales outside the most popular and beloved stuff.

As most, I find internet petitions kind of pathetic and useless, but damn if I have ever seen one hit almost 75,000 signatures, let alone in only 8 days. Go Dark Souls PC, Go!

I'm not really sure what your angle here is. Why are you so against admitting the obvious?

It's a fact that Steam has more sales and better sales than every other platform in existence. Sure, sometimes Amazon or Green Man Gaming or whatever might beat an individual Steam sale, but ninety percent of the time? Nope. Steam has the better deals. That's why people like Steam. Well, part of why.

Also, it's NOT usually older games. Brand new games can go on sale for half price a mere month after release, sometimes. Less, even, if you're really lucky. It has happened before, and it will happen again.

EDIT: Although, if there's one manner in which Steam loses, pricing-wise, it's in general price drops. Oftentimes, non-sale prices will be higher on Steam than in retail, even. Which is... kind of dumb. But then Steam has a sale and suddenly it's a better deal on Steam, after all. "Oops."

I'm the one stating the obvious, how am I not admitting it? Because you (and I actually, but for a different reason) have a backlog in the hundreds that makes it the norm? Unless you have stats that prove otherwise I don't believe it just because you say it and there's a silly meme for it I wasn't aware of before this thread, no. You have loads of games, I get it, that's cool.

I dunno about that, though I wasn't arguing against that to begin with, I've gotten plenty great deals in stores, like buy 2 (or 1!) and get one free regardless of age and what not. And there are stuff like the indie bundles, pay what you wants, whatever else that isn't specifically a Steam sale (even if the games activate on Steam). Of course, Steam is definitely more consistent at least, and the access to them is much easier and usually without limits (ie leftover copies in stores).

Happens elsewhere too. Usually underperforming titles of course. Hence the sale to help them do better (or in the case of retailers to get rid of them). And I didn't say they don't go on sale at all (duh, these days you have preorder sales), just that it's not common for a full price release to go for 10 or 5 bucks on a sale soon after release, ie before they become "older" titles.

Dunno why you seem to think I'm on some anti-Steam crusade either. Steam is rad, dude.

You've clearly misinterpreted basically everything I said because over half of this post is... what... as a response to mine. It's like you're ignoring half of MY posts when you respond, sometimes inserting your own weird interpretations for whatever reason. The last line in particular is completely nonsensical, as I never said or implied anything to the contrary. I'm going to chalk this up to miscommunication and GTFO.

Yeah, same thing I was thinking since I never argued against how good Steam sales are yet had to resort to discussing that and getting a "why people like Steam 101" course just because I dared to say people have backlogs on all platforms since they all get good deals here and there and that I don't think it's the norm to have 100s of unplayed games, even if I personally do. But I thought I'd be courteous and give it a last try. I guess I shouldn't have. Thanks for showing me that. And leading the way ;)

P.S., what has nothing to do with backlogs, that's all I commented on to begin with and you started the argument as if I said anything negative about Steam sales, if that's not what you wanted to talk about then why target my posts at all? Good lord.

Leading. Huh. Hah!

Oh, an edit, huh. ;D

P.S., your post still completely misses the point. It has nothing to do with backlogs. I can't believe you're fixating so much on this one thing. Good lord.

Just signed the petition! hope something comes of it, I still haven't gotten around to buying dark souls, but I have plenty of games to play in the meantime, that I don't need to remedie that just yet.

Holy shit, 76K signatures? Last time I looked it was at like 4K. Amazing.

I'm all for anything that makes more money for FROM Soft.

I need more Souls.

Not going to happen. Namco and FROM have little to no experience with developing for the PC, and a PC version probably never crossed their mind once.

From developed a PC version of one of their games 2 years or so ago. Namco Bandai published multiple PC titles in 2011.
