RROD, Shit Online, No Games, DVD Limit, Bad Triggers, Loud Drives & Pixel Counters

I'm not into the whole system wars thing, but I DO like to know which versions of games are superior as return policies these days are pretty strict.

The arguments can be somewhat fun when you're bored, though. Arguments are a major reason to post on GAF no matter how silly they are.

You realize that this sort of stuff has been happening on NeoGAF's various incarnations since, like, forever? The only difference is that we have more members, so the signal-to-noise ratio can get a bit more muddled.

Rest assured that we shall continue to plant feet squarely into the asses of those deserving, and just because somebody doesn't get clipped within minutes of posting something stupid, don't assume it won't happen at all.

Never mind the various honeytrap threads carefully laid about the forums from time to time.

Carry on.

I am also sick of this crap. It's the reason I no longer go to Gamwfaqs. I would say that PS3 fanboys are the most annoying though with 360 ones coming in a close second. If you don't believe me monitor all the threads on the front page for a day. GTA better on PS3, GTA preorders higher on PS3 etc. You are arguing over a fuckin preorder. Whats next? PS3 box art shinier than 360 boxart. The ultimate hypocrisy is all in the MGSO is what ever resolution it is.Who cares about a few missing pixels anyway if the game runs great. Then there's the rrod jokes.

360 fanboys arent saints either but I think we can all see which fanboys have been running wild ever since the PS3 outsold the 360 for a couple months.

It's sad because I have all 3 systems and from a gamers viewpoint I wnjoy all 3. Yeah I am biased at times but it's mostly to do with games not systems.

Say what you will about the wii but at least its fanboys arent on the same idiotic level of PS3 or 360 fanboys.

Oh?

You must not be familiar with Nintendo fans history. The only reason they aren't poping up in some of these graphical discussions is simply because it doesn't apply to the Wii. What would be the point of them pushing Nintendo in such a thread?

Well, I for one like the crazy pixel counters. Nothing to do with the system warz, more because they're calling out the BS PR put out there.

I don't think anyone here has doubted the talents of the mod team here (Good example, you recently got rid of a very good troll attempt in the GTA4 thread). I think between this and the thread last week after the Petpound incident is that maybe the mod/member ratio has got to a point where the lunatics are starting to rule the asylum a bit.

Anyway, yes, systems wars has been going on since the dawn o gaming, I still remember arguing at school about the Mega Drive and the Snes, not much has changed, only I have got older, and much, much more cynical.

:lol :lol

I lean firmly on the Ninty side of the fence, but boy, the insanity from the N-Crowd is unparalleled, just be thankful that since the closure of the official Nintendo forums that the rabid mobs didn't end up here.

Welcome to the internet. The whole purpose of a forum is discussion. Even if you went to a forum that covered things like archery you'd have people arguing over competing arrow brands. Just stay away from threads that look like blatant competition fodder because they aren't going anywhere. As long as game consoles aren't free and most gamers can only afford to buy 1 system they'll continue to be supportive of their investment.

what a cop-out excuse, just because we're all entitled to free speech doesn't mean we are subject from using our own discretion.

What I think the OP was getting at was how the forum was never THIS BAD!, sure there were bickering wars, but it never managed to creep into 90% of the threads on the first page.

This may be due to the fact that all 3 consoles even themselves out now, in terms of sales and technical horsepower.

It's not like last-gen when it was just one console that pretty much everyone had, we were able to talk about the games instead of the system they were on, most of the time anyway.

The SNES vs Genesis thing not only lasted their entire lifespans, it also lasted beyond them, until this very day. So suck it up, son.

I can't take it anymore...

We didn't start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world's been turning
We didn't start the fire
No we didn't light it
But we tried to fight it

Honestly? I'm going to play my 'I am far to removed from the attitudes and ignorance involved to pay attention or get involved, and I enjoy playing games and enjoying RL than partaking in System Wars' card. Sorry!

But for the sake of the thread and the fun to be had:

Oh, no you didn't!! Gaime > Hockey!!

Have you guys ever posted on a politics-specific messageboard? This is child's play compared to that. A few times I half expected to have some of their posters cut the brake lines in my car while I was sleeping.

I learn something new from GAF every day.

Without the system wars, where's the entertainment? I long since gave up partaking in them myself but it's always fun to sit back and watch. Especially since as a Nintendo fan it's the other two group of fanboyss tearing each other apart.

No fanboys are any worse than any others. It is just that the fanboys who back the so-called losing system always get frustrated at feeling irrelevant and get louder and more annoying as they vent and spin these feelings away. Happened to Nintendo and Sega fans the last two generations and is happening right now to Sony and Xbox fans. (I lean towards Nintendo with Sony coming second by the way)

I do agree that more mods are required. While the moderation is often in practice draconian and arbitrarily enforced here, I do like that it makes all but the most stupid posters fear the banhammer. That EviLore runs this place like his own personal fiefdom seems to work but the place has come to depend on the backhand smack of firm government and this has not been happening nearly enough lately.

For every 5 fanboys there is 1 person who makes legitimate comments and queries about all the things listed in the title. Why should they be punished because of the shit posted by idiots with an agenda? Shills and fanboys are here aplenty - shills get payed for it, fanboys have no excuse and are pathetic.

Anyway, off the top of my head, here are the rules I tend to follow:

1-Make one statement supporting your argument.
2-Don't state opinion as fact.
3-Don't get into arguments over opinions - agree to disagree.
4-Don't bullshit or pass off rumours as fact.
5-If you have a valid argument with clear cut facts supporting your argument, give evidence and links.
6-Try not to let stupid brand allegiance cloud your judgement. All next gen consoles are doing well and fighting petty fights on bulletin boards is sad.

Yeah. I own every console, because I want the best versions of games. I'm getting tired of fanboys shitting up legitimate threads/discussions about which version has technical superiority because it hurts their feelings.

System wars entertain me.

I'm intelligent enough to sit back and enjoy the bickering, while still getting advice and news. It's not that hard. If you don't like a post, ignore it.

If you're an 18-24 year old kid trying to justify your hard-earned purchase of one console because that's all you can afford, of course you're going to start a system war. It'll make you feel better about your decision.

What's just as bad is the people parodying it and posting the memes 'for lols' or pre-emptively...shits up a thread just as bad.
This, and when a potentially controversial topic is posted, the number of "wow this is going to be good popcorn.gif" posts dwarf the number of people that actually want to discuss it much let get upset about it.

Fanboys will always exist. The real evil is low content posts. You want to increase signal to noise bishoptl? Random bannings for low content posts, even if it's just for a week. Call it Content Week where if your post consists of anything other than a full sentence, one week ban.
