RTTP: Demolition Man

The best thing about Taco Bell being in the movie is that, after it came out, they changed their logo to the purple and yellow bell on an angle that it is now, similar to the logo in Demolition Man.

Before Demolition Man, their logo was just this.

Loved this when it came out. Only problem was Sting re-recording and ruining The Police classic of the same name for the soundtrack. I'd like to pretend that never happened. Sure, 30something adult contemporary Sting, you're a "walking nightmare, arsenal of doom"

Lol, I thought that was the case. I distinctly remember a crappy taco bell logo and then it changed more like the one used in this movie.

What's your boggle?!

I love this movie, so much. No one I know ever gets any Demolition Man references. Granted, the movie is slightly obscure, but then again no way it's not - I mean Stallone AND Snipes, in the same movie, in the early 90s?! How did everyone NOT love this movie.

Stallone's character being rehabilitated into a master of arts & crafts/embroidery/needlepoint was hilarious. Seeing him wrap that knitting thread around those massive pipes he calls arms was priceless. Then we get these gems:

Lenina Huxley: Look at you, you're a shambles!
John Spartan: Don't worry, I can fix it. All I need is a needle and thread.
[pause]
John Spartan: I really didn't say that, did I? Damn!
That rat burger looked like the best thing ever. Just looking at Spartan enjoying it with a beer... definitely worth a Rolex. :P
It really did look amazing. Even if it was a standard frozen JTM/Generic burger, on a generic bun, something about it looked outstanding. If it weren't for my unhealthy love for Taco Bell, I'd eat burgers after/during my next watch of DM. But Taco Bell will undoubtedly win.

That is a high quality gif! I love this movie so damn cheesy but the one liners are so damn good.

"He doesn't know how to use the 3 shells?"

Also Sandra Bullock in this..oh my.

Whomever made the decision to put Sandra Bullock in spandex pants the entire movie deserves a medal.

One of the greatest action flicks set in the future. One of Stallone's best action films. And easily one of the best 90's action movies but it doesn't really feel dated.

Also, the Seashells are buttons like a bidet.

I opened a thread like this one not so long ago, smh.

Anyway, mellow greetings citizen, what seems to be your boggle?

I just started to listen to How Did This Get Made, and it's a great podcast. This one was hilarious especially when Jason brings up that (speculation spoilers!)
Huxley is John Spartan's daughter.
When they discussed that, I was cracking up.

I love that part of that podcast and I 100% agree.

It's a shame the director Marco Brambilla stopped doing movies after this and only one other movie. He went back to video and art installations after complaining about lack of personal expression in Hollywood.
You could definitely sense the European artsy touch in Demolition Man, similar to Fifth Element by Luc Besson.

Love this movie, it has that 90's style that I really miss.

Also, that chick calling on Skype shirtless....predicted the future yet again!

Looking at the world now and how it is going, this movie will be looked at as prophetic. Making anything not good for you illegal, everything being touch based and self driving cars and all that. Weapons being illegal. Getting " points " deducted for foul language and other " crimes "

Think the only thing from the movie that won't appear is the cryogenic prison stuff.

Fantastic movie though.

Yeah, Demolition Man is an incredible film. It does so many things right it's kind of staggering. And damn, that rat burger looked good:

One of the best action movies of the 90s. Snipes and Stallone were perfect in this.

uk one was ALWAYS taco bell as far as I know

confused the hell out of me in the nineties

Yup.

I didn't know what Taco Bell was until I got onto the Internet in 1999.

In Spain it was Pizza hut and the logos were changed and all, so it made sense (PH was somewhat a thing here in the 90s, now it's gone of course).

Then I watched the BR with the original audio and it was weird as fuck because it was clearly re-recorded by the actors and the voice didn't match the mouths.

There's actually a taco bell nearby that recently got renovated. Here it is at night - I couldn't help but think of this movie when I saw this.

Unfortunately my wife didn't get reference :(
