RTTP Fallout New Vegas.

Been revisiting this one, started a new game earlier, been at it five hours already. Just about to do Lonesome Road. Haven't touched main story mode much yet, trying to decide who ti side with. I've never done a full Legion campaign, the few times I did try I felt like an evil bastard and bailed, I just imagined how brutal life would be under Caesar's rule and thought fuck that, I can't put the Mojave into that craziness.

Welcome back to the best goddamn Fallout game of all time.

Mr. House is probably the best written quest giver in all of gaming, I can simultaneously understand his core philosophy, be disgusted by how underhanded his methods, admire his leadership and legit skill as a businessman all at the same time.

Usually characters are just plain good or evil, this is how it should be done.

I too went to dive back into New Vegas. I've spent about 12 hours in it myself. Here's a screenshot summarizing the gameplay:

It's actually just something I found in Google, but yeah, I've wasted a bunch of time trying to get a working mod configuration this last week and a half and it's just been crash after error after crash. I feel by the time I finally get it working the way I want it to I will end up playing for 10 minutes then moving on.

No reason to use this over Nexus Mod manager.

Totally agree. I'm playing NV for the first time and siding with the House. He displays his logic to you in a way that implies he can be cutthroat, but predictably fair, because it's not in his selfish interest to do otherwise.

I'm finding myself wanting to go down Yes Man's path than Mr House's. Does the game change that much if you do that?

That's just one way to get to that point. Which is why NV is pretty great, because
The brotherhood never needed saving in my play through

It's been a while since I played but I think that happens
if you need the brotherhood to join the NCR

Dude, save Lonesome Road just until you're about to finish the main game. And play the DLC in order of release in order to get the best experience.

Lonesome road should be played later instead of sooner. Considering owb and the ending reference it.

Question. I'm replaying it right now too because I had it on PS3 and it got too crappy to finish it (and I'm really tolerant of crappy running games. It's not like it is running great on the 360 so far). I had over 200 hours in it and had finished all DLC's other than Lonesome Road.

I refuse to play Dead Money Again and while I liked Honest Hearts (or whatever it was called) not interested in playing it again. Sadly, the one DLC I wouldn't mind playing again, OWB, I'm afraid of installing cause it was after playing it that the game became unplayable (and I had read it can do that to New Vegas and it really did crap out my game). Or is there stuff that gets referred to in Lonesome Road that I'd really miss by not playing it (I know the DLCs tend to be connected and it is best to play them in a certain order. Last time my goal was Honest Hearts > Dead Money > OWB and then Lonesome Road).

WOuld it be bad to skip OWB this time and just play Lonesome Road (and maybe go back and play OWB after I finish the game from a previous save)? As much as I liked OWB, I would like to actually be able to finish the game this time.

Actually
the NCR want you to wipe out the Brotherhood, but if you help the Brotherhood they offer a truce with NCR to side with them and defeat the Legion. But doing so gains infamy from NCR.

You can just straight up killing the Brotherhood if you're playing NCR.

I'm actually using Mod Organizer, just couldn't find any screenshots for it with NV. As for Nexus, well, that thing was straight garbage the last three times I tried it.

You still can't get it working? I remember your posts in the modding thread.

Tell you what, I'll take your load order, find a way to make it work, and give you instructions.

For a high price.

The important thing is you remembering what happened and what was in the DLCs. As long as you do, there's no need to replay them.

For example:
You find a weapon made by Father Elijah in Old World Blues. If you didn't play Dead Money, you don't care at all who Elijah is.

I've tried getting into New Vegas 5 different times and it never hooks me, goddamn it I want to love it!

I don't know what it is about the game, I just can't stick with it.

Get to Vegas as quickly as possible. The game just opens up, and gets you out to interesting places.

This game is amazing. So ahead of Fallout 3, it's crazy.

The amout of ways you can deal with the platinum chip situation after you get to the strip is crazy.

Benny spoiler:
I used my black widow perk and had sex with Benny just before killing him in his sleep.

The first few hours of NV are some of the most boring in FO games. Just really lot of nothing going on and the boring environment don't help. The game opens up greatly later on but it does have a pretty shitty start.

Quite honestly, Caesar is not THAT far off either.

I found his entire operation repulsive, his force of will and dedication admirable.

I almost feel playing through this before 4, because I know they've never had the chops in the same way that Obsidian did. The quests will be rote and the story will be flat, but who knows, maybe they hired better writers.

Problem is, what will happen to the Mojave is Caesar dies? Without Caesar leadership, the Legion is full of savages.

Don't remember well, but he is dying, right?

My favourite game of all time, Obsidian really did a tremendous job

I really wish to see what Obsidian could with the Fallout franchise with more money and more time....and also with another engine.

Do you even have this installed? Do use nexus mod manager. There was also a 4GB mod so the game could manage memory better during long sittings.

Nah, 1 was better. 2 had some gameplay improvements but it's atmosphere was all over the place.

Cannot disagree more. 1 was the Fallout I had the hardest time getting into (really I was trying to play it cause I heard 2 was so good and figured I should try 1 first).

I love 2's story a whole lot more and there is just more to do. Get frustrated doing one thing? Go explore you'll find other things to do and can come back to it. 1 just seemed like I hit a brick wall early. And even trying to explore the whole map I couldn't find anything else besides random encounters. And I really didn't want to spend my time levelling up grinding random encounters *yawn* (I hit a brick wall trying to figure out what to do at the church and the only other thing I had left was the deathclaws to kill to make friends with the BoS and I was getting my ass handed to me).

And I loved the randomness/whackiness of 2. I loved how it could totally surprise you with things happening.

1 is honesty my least favorite Fallout of the ones I've played (the 4 major ones, 1, 2, 3, and New Vegas). I wish I wasn't so stubbern about playing 1 before 2. I'd have gotten into fallout before 3 even came out (well I also would have had to know 2 finally came out on Mac). As is I didn't actually start playing Fallout 2 til this year.

I'm not saying I disliked 1. But it was for me the hardest one to get into.
