RTTP: Finishing Up Persona 4

Edit: My main party is around level 87 now. I also recently got Yoshitsune and Helel.

So I wanna finish up
Izanami's dungeon
in P4 and actually see the ending before Arena comes out, but I haven't touched this game in at least two years and don't think I'm ready to jump right into the last area. I've messed around in previous dungeons in order to get the controls back down but I think I'm still missing the finer points of the system. Plus I have no idea what strategy to go into the final phase with. I'm worried because the boss of
Adachi's dungeon
was a pain in the ass for me. Took me several tries and each one seemed to take forever. So, here's all my stats:

Levels:
Protag - 80
Yosuke - 73
Chie - 24
Yuriko - 80
Rise - 81
Kanji - 33
Naoto - 77
Teddie - 80

As you can see, my main team is Protag, Yuriko, Teddie, and Yosuke. I had to grind up Naoto specifically for the previous boss and people are telling me I'll have to grind up Chie for the next one. Basically, what can I expect in terms of getting through this relatively quickly and painlessly?

Your LVs are high enough to beat the game without much trouble so I'd say just toss Naoto, Yukiko, and Teddie in your party and go for it. Chie is nice at the end of the game if you've been using her consistently but it's not worth grinding her up when she's so low and you're near the end already.

O.o you're way stronger than I ever was when I beat this game. You should definitely be able to do it.

I think you can pretty much use any party for any boss, as long as your strategy is sound and you know when to let people die or to just guard with them.

This.

Damn I wish I could play P4 again with a fresh mind not knowing.

Played through twice/watched endurance run twice....yup I may have a problem. (2nd time 99% of it was while on a treadmill/on 2nd screen when playing a non story game).

You're overthinking all of this. What can go wrong should have a solution you should suss out easily if you're this far in.

What the hell is it with Trumpeter? I think I knew once but forgot. And I have no idea the process I need to go through in order to get him, much less grind him up.

Mainly for his Debilitate skill. It's not absolutely needed to win the game but it's a handy skill to have with bosses.

lowers one enemy's attack, defense, and agility for 3 turns

I can't remember the exact persona needed to fuse him but I know its like five or six needed? It's been a while since I've played 4.

I totally forgot how the hell I got through the last couple bosses, but I remember they were a headache, not to mention I have't touched this game in over two years.

Chie being low in level just the annoying tomboy she is. Props, OP.

Jesus Christ I've forgotten how to play this game. I just had to escape from the first batch of enemies I saw in the last dungeon. I think it was three Divine Mothers. Couldn't remember what attacks to use.

Trumpeter is a serious overkill for the last boss.

I still didn't feel bad for using it, I was expecting Atlus bullshit from the boss.

Dunno, I still think Shadow Yukiko is the hardest boss in the game, right at the start you can get killed for bs moves or doing the wrong buff/debuffs, everything after that is quite easy IMO.

I found her to be the hardest in the game.

Whether that's because I was new to Persona and didn't know the mechanics, or because it's early in the game so you have less flexibility with tactics/setup I'm not sure.

All I know is I died more on her than in the rest of the game put together

She was not hard for me I had a fire resist demon and was lvl 16 she was a breeze.

Nah, about the "had" parts. Go into an earlier dungeon. Feel it out. It's in ya, just let go of the fear so it can come back.

Megaten game? Megaten game.

The other difference is that between Shadow Yukiko and the next dungeon, you can rank up your Fox social link to where you can go to him for healing and still come out ahead in all your yens.

God damn. Tried that same group of enemies again and had to restart the game. I'm getting triple-turned and knocked down by enemies five levels weaker than my party. I'd just start a new file if I had the time and wasn't at the VERY last dungeon. I think I'm gonna have to mess around in earlier dungeons some more just to get the hang of the game again.

If I remember, the hardest bosses for me by far were shadow Kanji and
Ameno Sagiri
. Shadow Mitsuo gave me a hard time too. I ended up FAQing some of the other bosses though. Don't remember which ones.

Forgot about that...

Still remember running around getting into fights hoping for the right cards at the end to fill up MP (Judgement + Death?)

How much do you know about Persona Fusion? Seriously, because if you get a well setup Yoshitsune (Trumpeter is a bonus) then the rest of the game is ridiculously easy. I believe he has the most powerful move in the game, and repels/nullifies and lot of stuff naturally like Physical and Electric

Not a lot. I just messed around with random combinations the whole game until I got good ones like Thor and Ganesha. Had to read a FAQ for exact combinations of some of the more advanced ones, and even then I had to spend hours just creating the personae necessary to make what I really wanted.

I got Yoshitsune now, but since I never got the chance to start the Tower arcana over the course of the game, he didn't gain any EXP so I'm gonna have to grind him for like eight levels. I'm doing it in Magatsu Inaba and it seems like it's gonna take a really long time. Any tips?

Sorry to triple-post, but I just got Helel. Seems like a really good persona, or should I just stick with Yoshitsune for the final boss?

Never thought of you not doing the Tower SL. While Yoshitsune is still very good in general, it's that move only he learns (Hassou Tobi?) that really makes him overpowered. I guess you could level him up, but it'd take a lot of effort. I can't really recommend a good grinding spot though. I'm aware there's an auto-levelling spot in the final dungeon if you set things up correctly, but I'm not fully sure of the details.

Helel is a top Persona. You could always use him (or many other Persona) for the final boss.

Have you tried the end boss yet? Because while there are really good Persona you could use, they're not really necessary. Just give the end boss a shot. Maybe you'll die once or twice. But figure out her attack pattern (it's pretty consistent from what I remember), and then prepare accordingly

It might take you longer than it would have with better Persona, but it should be doable.

I've already forgotten what personas I had. All I know is that the boss can be insanely rng dependant, so keep trying. Probably the second hardest boss fight in any jrpg I've played, after the last boss of FF4.

I think my party was Yukiko, Chie and Yosuke.

Yeah the final boss is only hard if you don't have Trumpeter. The first time I beat the game I actually didn't have him yet and the fight was a lot more fun.

I know that this is heresy, but how much did the anime deviate from the game? I'm binging on persona 3 right now and probably would want to take a break afterward.

The original airing stopped before the final dungeon arc. So no complete true end. It was a pretty standard adaptation so much so that it was kinda boring but that's just my opinion.

The hell man? FF4 is the other RPG I have to beat right now and I'm grinding in the last dungeon of that too.
