Even as a kid I never understood why Al never wanted to have sex with Peggy? She's a fox.

Al had his moments. Rememeber the BBQ episode.

Peg at her Hottest!

They are making a sequel series about Bud Bundy.

Really? I feel like you couldn't get away with the shit they did on this series, today. At least not without a massive backlash. And that's even considering the point of the series is more to poke fun at the ignorance of the Bundys. Idk, actually maybe not... Always Sunny gets away with that type of humor?

One of my favorite shows. I bought the full series on dvd a while ago and marathoned it over like a month. That was a lot of Bundy.

This show is dedicated to our brother, The Mighty Cockroach. Let him show us the way.

Kelly Bundy's metamorphosis through the years.

They got amazingly lucky with Bud and Kelly since the characters that they became known for when the show peaked were nothing like the kid characters they were hired on for. Bud was just a mischievous kid. Kelly wasn't dumb. They were not really great and memorable characters in the beginning. They grew to become great and memorable. Who could have known they would end up being so funny in their adult roles?

Faustino and Applegate weren't even the original kids hired. They decided on a recast after they filmed the whole pilot.

This is why this show is great. Its unabashedly sexist and completely ignores the notion of being PC for the sake of being a great comedy. This kind of show wouldnt last a episode in this age.

Made it 58 posts before someone pulled the bullshit "you couldn't make this today" card.

Watch more television.

I still flip it on when I wake up in the mornings on weekdays. It's on TBS. This show along with the X-Files legitimized FOX for me.

While not nearly as bad as Roseanne's, this show did take a bit of a dive in the later seasons. But when it was in it's prime, it was fantastic!

Very funny sitcom that sadly gets ruined by the most abnoxious, irritating and overly hyped studio audience who bring the pacing to a halt every few jokes by loudly cheering and whistling while the actors just stand there as they wait for them to shut up again.

That makes MWC unwatchable for me. Can't stand it.

Almost every episode of this show is classic. There are just a few dark spots, like the episodes with any of Peg's relatives or that one country music one.

I especially liked Steve's occasional reappearances.

I have many politically correct type friends. When talking about particular shows this always seems to come up. When I tell them my two of my favorite growing up were Roseanne and this, somehow it blows their minds on how I could watch such trash in reference to this program. Always leads me to believe they only watched one or neither.

I'd put Roseanne in it's prime over Married with Children in it's prime, MWC is still one of my favorite sitcoms ever.

They're different shows. While both were certainly a big change from usual sitcoms, Roseanne was more grounded in reality while doing humor. MWC was more goofy. I think Roseanne was trying to emulate MWC in it's later seasons, and that's why it failed so badly. It stopped doing what it did best.

It was a great show, everyone was good to great, even the kids had their good moments. I especially love Steve, because he represents the classic "good husband" TV character, and even looks the part.

Imagine if the show came out today, holy fucking shit would it cause a uproar on social media. Which is weird because the late 80s-earlys 90s were pretty soft, so i guess that really speaks of our times.
they were pretty edgy back then. I think i remember they had alot of trouble finding a network to air the show.

That always comes to mind when I'm trying to find out the name of the song.

edit: oh god your username and avatar... lol that vid.
RICK) Ga-roovy song, wasn't it? You know, a lot of people think that the name of that song is "Go with Him," but it's NOT!

AL) WHAT IS IT? WHAT IS IT?

RICK) Well, here's our third song of 5,000 in a row. We're going for the world's record, two full years of uninterrupted music! This is Rick Cool, the Fifth Monkey, heading home to his depressing studio apartment on the poor side of town.

I meant more in terms of content. I feel that both programs have a near identical core. The people I'm referring to always kind of peg MWC as misogynistic or culturally stunted. Roseanne had the same qualities, but the characters were more relatable. MWC always had that caricature reset button for a majority of the series.

The other element is my area is the north east, which neither program socially identifies as. I'd describe both as comfort food programming.

This is a cultural phenomenon I almost completely missed. My mom wouldn't let us watch it because she thought it was too low-class. I'd catch snippets now and then just because I always thought Christina Applegate was really hot.

Growing up i used to think that about roseanne. It wasnt until recently that i sat down and watched a few episodes on tv and realized it was actually pretty good.

Remember the episode with the French foreign exchange student?
Milla Jovovich

Or the episode where Pamela Anderson and Teri Weigel fought for Al's attention in his dreams?

Good times.

Easily my all time favorite sitcom. It also has a lot of nostalgic value for me. I think it's one of the few shows where the laugh tracks actually work and is done well. When me and my friends were all gathered around to watch our weekly MWC episode we would all cheer and scream with the audience every time one of Bundy's made appearance.

I knew you wouldn't be able to resist saying that even though it's a load of nonsense.

Bullshit

and

Bullshit.

Next you'll be trying to say that Revenge of the Nerds would be released intact today.
I could design a bot to post for you and no one would notice.

You know, I've been watching Roseanne a lot lately, and I think part of it going downhill was making the family successful with the restaurant. Once they had financial security, they had to focus more on character conflict. That's when everybody became caricatures.
