I wanted to play oblivion again and i found some great mods and thought i should share this with you since there could be some people who never played oblivion with mods so here are some screens:

I was waiting to buy the GOTY special edition off steam during their winter sale...never went low enough for me. :(

I must say though, with mods this game looks x10 as good. Also is RTTP engrish for LTTP?

Wondering...does OBSE work with Steam copies? I think I remember it didn't, wonder if that was ever worked around.

Yeah Steam worked it out with the OBSE developer and there's a working version for Steam now.

Anyways, I also recommend Subtle Sunshine:

I also use OblivionXP (I think it's called) to turn the game into a tradition XP -> level game.

Atmospheric Weather System is a pretty nice environment mod, most of the other good ones have been mentioned too.
 
I love heavily modded Oblivion. Here's my mod list and load order below. Was a sonofabitch to setup properly without errors but was worth it:

I think I spent more time modding and installing mods and making sure the mod order was correct and seeing if I bugged out due to too many mods than I spent actually playing the game.

OOO was incredible, though. I remember running for my life after accidentally venturing into an wood elf ruin. I managed to kill one and take his awesome braid armor. Or going into the mountains and getting raped by this magic elf dude and his badass saber. Going back there ten levels later and burning his face off, take his sword, and feeling so good.

OOO was such a badass mod.
 
Just FYI Oscuro from the famous OOO mod is working on/with the team behind the Fallout 3 spinoff, Fallout: New Vegas.

Yeah, I heard that. Happy for the guy and makes me excited for the game too.
 
Oh, and is there any progress on FCOM? Last I checked it'd been ages since a stable release and the maintainer had gone on vacation or something...figured I'd wait for a new stable release before mucking with it on my new (at the time) W7 install.

That's how the game should have been.

A big open world RPG like Oblivion needs scary places that low level character shouldn't go to. But if you are crafty, you might pick off one enemy and take his badass super high level loot.

OOO takes Oblivion from a 7.5 game to a 10, easily. The rest of the mods are just icing on the cake.

Holy shit. I read your response and I was thinking to myself "man, I was waiting for it to go low at the Steam sale as well and it never got low enough for me" (although I did buy morrowind).

Then I read your second line and I was thinking the exact same thing (does it mean "rate to the party")... then I was thinking that maybe it would make sense if he was talking about a JRPG but not for a WRPG.
 
When I played this vanilla for awhile I loved finding dungeons and exploring them but I never found much in the way of cool treasures or anything.

Do any mods make it more fun to do dungeon crawls? I enjoyed that more than anything else with the exception of the assassin quests.

Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul makes dungeons dangerous and rewarding. You never know what you'll find down there. It could be a nest of pigs, a hole of vampires, or an epic temple filled with mages and vamps with an awesome katana at the end for the reward.
 
Are there like, mod packages akin to the Stalker 2009 Complete mod? I'm afraid that by just mixing and matching mods the game would lose cohesion, and conflicting graphic/texture qualities and overall quality between mods would really ruin the immersion.

so which should i try OOO or FCOM?
 
My favorite game of all time. I tried the 360 version recently, and couldn't bring myself to play it after I got out of the sewers. Once you play the modded version, it's impossible to go back. :D

Is that Francesco's? You can run both. I played through with Martigen's mod as well, along with combat reflexes for a brief period of time.

Wow.. I wish this thread was around about a year ago when I started playing Oblivion for the pc.

FCOM is what you use to combine OOO + Francesco's + a bunch of other overhaul mods together in to one absolutely crazy game. You still need all the separate parts and Wyne Bash to combine everything.
 
Beautiful screenshots. Wish I had the PC to run Oblivion. I still really enjoy the 360 version though despite its shortcomings.

I got GOTY edition at Staples for $20 CDN.

I just started playing Oblivion a few weeks ago after getting my PC running finally. NCIX had no vanilla 5850 so I caved in and got the Black Edition, the 5870 is too long and I don't want to move the HDD bays in my case Antec 900.

Qarl's Texture Pack III really makes the game look better. Natural enviroment is nice too i've always used it. I wouldn't mind some type of draw distance mod to increase flora, trees and detail in the distance. I'm running max settings and even with a dozen mob on screen there's no slowdown at all.

I can't wait to use Midas spells but I just got caught stealing from the Mage's Guild :lol

I'm level 8 mage with conjuration and destruction being my highest skills right now.
 
I only played the PS3 version and I fucking loved that game to no end. I never understood all the complaints about leveling enemies, as toward the end, I could lay out entire cites with no issue.

Awesome game, and seeing these mods makes me jealous I dont have a PC powerful enough to run it.
 
Hmmm, this thread makes me want to reinstall this game again. I haven't played it on my TV yet, and I never did get all the way through Shivering Isles.
 
just added some stuff to the first post Natural Environments is a realy great mod and the combination of Better Cities , Unique Landscapes and Natural Environment + the high res textures is absolutly great
 
I've spent more time downloading and installing mods for this game than actually playing it. I just could never understand the leveling system or what I should be doing. Any play session usually ended with me doing something illegal at which point I would be chased around the country side with three armed guards shouting, "STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM!"
 
No matter how good your PC is, with several mods going on, the game will chug in the imperial city and some other populated areas. I can run 30 fps in outdooors, all the time, but when it comes down to cities everything begins to crawl.

Atmospheric Weather System is more current though, you should look in to that one too... it's also like 10x the size.

EyeCandy Compilation RC2 is not nearly as bad as it sounds. Yes it does "objectify" the women a little, but it gives you many more hair styles, clothing, and adds a ton of other stuff.
ok, maybe it is a bit bad, but you don't need to abuse it

Get Wet is a nice mod that makes raindrops land on NPCs and you can still them dripping down their faces.

Illumination Within Revived is just an awesome mod that illuminates buildings (see the church pic I posted above)

Living Economy should not be missed either, whether it's from OOO, Frans, or standalone, greatly enchances the trading system and fixes the value of thousands of items.

Oblivion Stereo Sound Overhaul is a nice sound upgrade mod.

Phinix Immersive DarkUI is a great update on the famous UI mod.

Storms and Sound is another nice sound upgrade.

Book Jackets puts in some amazing textures to your books, there's a standard version in case the high res one is overkill (it's like 300 megs compressed!).
 
This thread makes me cry...I played at least 300 hours of vanilla Oblivion on the 360 and looking at all of these awesome mods, I don't know how I did it. If I had a real gaming PC, my life would be over.
 
Played this game on the PS3, but decided to sell it when I lost my save data. I've been planning to start over on PC with all the mods available, but I have a couple of questions.

1. Will GOTY work on Steam, and without having to put in the disc each time I turn it on?

2. Does the PC version support controllers (such as the 360 controller), and if not is there a mod that allows it?

3. I remember seeing a mod that added a ton more music to the game's meager selection (specifically for battles). Anyone have a link to it?

4. Is there a mod that improves the faces of NPC characters, or at least add more variety to them?

5. What about a mod that adds more voice acting? Just curious, since it's off-putting to hear everyone played by the same five people.
 
I tried getting FCOM to work a while back and was having a hell of a time getting all the parts working together even following the guide on the site. Give yourself a good block of time if you are trying to get that going for the first time.
 
maniac-kun you need some AF in your screens and also a graphic mod to enhance the colours to get rid of that dull washed out look.

I recomend ScreenEffects.

NOTE that I was previously using ENBseries which made the colours look like that but for some reason it absolutely just killed my FPS, even on my super high end PC. So Ive been using ScreenEffects insted which can produce the same effect as ENB but with no fps hit.
I might of had the saturation just up a little too high in that shot but im still tweaking it.

So first question: I'm trying to use my 360 controller on the game, which it recognizes, but I can't find a way to map the camera (mouse) to the right analog stick. This isn't a big deal since I could use Xpadder, BUT, I want to keep the analog control for the left stick.

So here's the real issue: Movement with the left stick is real finnicky: my character keeps inching forward even when I'm not touching the left stick. Is there a way to lower the sensitivity of the analog movement in this game?
