RTTP: The Winter Soldier

And what about the elevator scene.

"Before we get started, does anyone want to get out?"

From that moment Cap jumped on my favorite list. I really didnt like First Avenger but Winter Soldier made me like Cap.

This is far and away the best MCU film for me. Very rewatchable in my experience. From the opening sequence you get the see Cap being badass and actually superpowered, and there is actually an interesting story wrapped around the whole thing.

Also, this music and the end credits man...it's amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHyO8ztfE8k

The scene at the Smithsonian was terrific as well. It does two jobs beautifully - 1. it informs the audience of who this character is, and 2. it helps establish Steve's in-movie reason of why he clings to the good ol days.

The way the director's and writers incorporate that scene is nothing short of genius. It catches the audience up on where Steve has been, what he's gone through and everything he's lost, while at the same time naturally helps to build Steve's character arc in the film.

And the music is great in that scene.

cap punting dudes off the ship at the beginning alone elevates this movie to GOAT status

I remember going into the movie, I was expecting it to be good, but not great, which is what I felt about Cap1. I was slouching in my seat at the beginning. And then the ship scene happened. I sat up and said "holy shit!" and was hooked for the rest of the movie lol.

At some point they realized that he had super strength and decided to make it a Bourne movie with a superhuman.

It's a great super hero film because it's also an espionage thriller and it handles both aspects really well, and not just "for the genre".

Well acted, well edited, well paced, well written, excellent fight scenes, gave Cap some much needed character after TFA.

Easily the best MCU film.

Yep. I mentioned this in my other post of ranking the MCU films. Excellent movie throughout.

Just rewatched it today. Such a great movie. Also, Falcon rocks. Actually, all the characters are great in this, even Crossbones.
Looking back, it's ridiculous how many things it ties together.

Yup. The villain also isn't completely garbage, unforgettable, or at the very best mediocre like every other Marvel villain.

that is the scene that made me an MCU stan

i saw all the previous movies but thats the first time i was like oh fuck yeah we in here

It's an extremely watchable film, which is more than I can say for most of the MCU movies.

Solid pacing. Solid action. Solid acting. Solid story. It's great.

Yup, that big boot just screamed "you are in for a treat". There are a few movies that are like that, like when Breed by Nirvana kicks in during the opening gun fight in Shoot 'Em Up, or the opening scene to Casino Royale.

Still the best thing in the MCU. That knee of Justice is too meaty.

Cool flick, distinct in tone from other Marvel movies. Probably part of the greatest MCU trilogy, depending on GotG vol 3's quality. Or maybe a God-Tier Infinity War.

I liked the movie. Action scenes were amazing, and showed off what Cap is really capable of. The fights with Bucky were great.

My problem with the film is that it doesn't follow through with this incredible stuff into the third act. I agree with alot of people here and feel that the third act suffers from bloat and way too much CG.

It's such a good film 2/3rds of the way through before really jumping the shark with the bizarre exposition dump by Zola and the helicarrier stuff.

Not as good as people make it out to be, but certainly better than most other MCU films.

I think I might like The First Avenger more, but I can't be sure. I can't be bothered to rewatch many MCU movies.

I found it just ok, but the one that puzzles me more is Civil War, I found borderline terrible and it's praised as one of the best XD
