I'd be particularly interested to know if anyone has a bravia 32V25000 and how the PQ is when the ps3 is set to output 1080i while playing bluray movies. anyone?

But realistically speaking, it would save money and time by simply buying the HD-DVD add-on. The 360's hardware-based scaling abilities are always going to trump the PS3's. Lets face it, the PS3's software scaler is an inherently flawed design.

But how would one watch Casino Royale in HD then?

I will bet anything that you compared completly different source materials for your HD-DVD vs BD comparo, did you?
I cant see any difference from forcing my Sky HD 1080i into 720p, which is what is my native display resolution is... and all BD's I have look really good (7 of them), as long as source material is good.
Which is why you have AVS forums where you check if BD movie transfer is actually done well or not.
Of course, link does NOT talk about that at all, so title of the thread has to be fixed.

WTF is going on with the n00bs lately?

Yeah, upscaling PS1/PS2 games to 720p/1080i. Which I find quite interesting. But nobody seems to be talking about it. Downscaling Blu-ray to 720p seems to be the topic here. Which I don't blame them since it's an important issue that I think needs to be fixed, but again it's not exactly what the rumor is about.JB1981 said:Isn't the "rumor" in this thread related to PS2 upscaling anyway, or am I missing something?
