Rumor-Castlevania: Lords of Shadow sequel in development

If this is going to be a proper sequel to LoS I hope they at least explain what happened to Gabriel from where we stopped playing to the short scene at the end and the large time jump if that is where the Sequel will be taking place.

Developers should never do what I would say should have been part of the original game and a key point in the narrative of Gabriel in DLC.

Music and art design were lovely, combat was serviceable if unpolished, but the overall campaign (especially puzzles/platforming/level design) needs to be much, much better than it was in the first game if they're to do a sequel.

What´s wrong with the LoS ost? Oscar Araujo did an explendid job, the soundtrack is amazing

There are some really good songs on it. I really like Gabriel's theme (whatever it's called), but most of it is too movie-esque. It works well within the game, but is forgettable and doesn't hold up well when listening just by itself.

But like Michiru Yamane composed some of the best music in gaming.
I know she hasn't done Castlevania for a bit, but the composers after her did a good job at emulating her style for the series.

Mr. Araujo's soundtrack in LoS just doesn't hold up.

Of course, it's all opinion so...

Lets hope they don't try to run away from that ending and continue events after it.

I was heavily disappointed when I found out that in the second DLC,
you don't even have a single new power. I hoped for a new control scheme, consisting of awesome vampire powers, like Lauras mist form. Let's hope they're doing that in the sequel. A hack'n'slay game in which you play a charismatic vampire with badass skills (like Hellsings Alucard) would be incredible.

She composed for Ecclesia.

I know I've preached this before, but the music in Lords of Shadow fit Lords of Shadow. Yamane's style would not have worked with the kind of atmosphere and slower kind of gameplay. She could have adapted to it, I'm not saying she wouldn't have been able to do it, but Oscar's music greatly complimented what was actually on the screen, as well as the combat and boss fights.

That and it was just fucking gorgeous with some fantastic themes.

Excellent, it's been teased since last year, let's hope a confirmation comes soon.

This reminds me I still have to rebuy a PAL edition to play the extra episodes that I bought for cheap during the winter sale...

Damn region locking forever!!

There's only one company which I would trust with Castlevania these days.

There are 3 musics from LOS that I listen from time to time. It's not really a very memorably soundtrack, even though it works for the "epic" feel they were trying to emulate from the other games it copies.

I thought this was confirmed before the first one even came out? Though nothing really solid or anything. I hope we finally see more of this at E3. The DLC for the first game was terrible though. If the sequel has DLC, I hope by another team.

I don't remember it being any bad on 360. Sure, it wasn't 60 fps, but it still ran fine.

360 ver ran like shit near the end when you fought those sorcerers whenever they used that summon spell. it was like a slideshow.

Gaf liked LoS? I thought the game got a lukewarm reception here, maybe I should check it out then.

It's been in development since the original released.

They should stop teasing and just show it. It's been scheduled to be revealed over and over but pulled before it could actually show anything.

Aside from frame-rate issues(which didn't bug me on my playthrough on 360 at all), it's such a kick ass game. I think the negatvity stems from A) frame rate or B) Castelvania fans of yesteryear who won't accept anything that isn't a 2D vania sequel to SOTN.

If you just want an amazing action-adventure game, then it's worth playing through. :)

The sequel should deliver on a few orchestral remixes of classic themes. A few of the new themes introduced were great (like the fight with the ogre), but it would be nice to see from nods to the past. Also reanimate Slogra already.

I'm certainly open to new directions. This one wasn't good to me. Just like LoI and CoD weren't too. Neither the N64 titles.

Man, Castlevania fans are the worst.

I blame Konami, though, for slapping the series name on 3 or 4 distinctly divergent sub series of action games. Everyone has their one true version and cannot abide any others.

LoS was great, whatever the branding.

LOS was truly something great. I would love them to Metroidvania up the sequel though along with a better framerate.

What a game

I seem to be the only one not bothered in the slightest by the LoS framerate.

Sure it had issues early in the game, but it was generally pretty consistent.

Wasn't this supposed to be in development ever since they finished the first one? The ending just screamed "to be continued".

Anyway, I'll gladly take this over the 20th 2D Metroidvania-iteration, that style has gotten really old, LOS was great, the castle sections in particular were amazing.
I just hope that they'll make a classic Castlevania soundtrack this time, the music was my biggest disappointment with LOS, so generic and there were hardly any classic themes save for a few seconds in two or three songs.

Thought this was already known for some reason.

Well, it had its problems but I liked LoS. I just hope they go with more traditional Vania fodder enemies for this one. Also I hope it doesn't continue directly from that ending reveal.

It's been "known" just out of pure logic, but no formal announcement has been made yet.

All I need are some screenshots and who the composer is going to be and I'm set.

As long as you don't go in with wrong expectations (Metroidvania), it's a competent action game.

A vampire-themed, less epic version of God of War is a pretty good description, imo.

smooth burn
yea, GoW with deeper combat system
