Rumor: Dylan O'Brien has been cast as Spider-Man

What sort of moron updates his own rumor-mongering post to say "Official" when there hasn't been an official announcement, anyway?

I was joking about that.

The first time I saw a "leaker" say something was official was in the gaming forums, hilarious.

Witty, sometimes irresponsible goofball. Only gonna be like three of those in Infinity War besides him.

Irresponsible goofball on purpose can be used to describe Peter Quill, he ain't witty though.
Witty and irresponsible (also on purpose) can be used to describe Tony, don't know about him being a goofball.

Are you talking about Ant-Man?

Everyone wanted Donald Glover.

No one wanted Donald Glover.

This video that Froli posted in the last rumor thread (with Lerman and O'Brien) sold me (and quite a few other people) on him. I haven't seen Lerman in anything besides the first Percy Jackson film (which I watched after the rumors), so I'm not sure whether I would have liked him as well.

After seeing this, I can see him as Peter Parker.

I mean... yeah? I feel like they should spend two odd films on that, so more than another minute.

Even The Amazing Spider-Man only tackled his high-school life to do the Gwen Stacy arc.

Preach. I've been saying this since they confirmed they were rebooting. I don't know what this revisionist history is, but ASM was the only Spider-Man movie we got with Parker in high school the whole movie and they were out immediately at the beginning of the second. High school Spidey hasn't even begun to be mined and it also makes him unique compared to the other superheroes. Spectacular Spider-Man is a perfect blue print on how to make it work.

Hmm I am okay with this, in fact from what I am hearing it's looking that we are finally getting a decent Spider-Man on the big screen albeit a little late.

But man I am sooooo hyped.

Also regarding Miles, isn't he too recent compare to Parker thus doesn't have a rich history to pull from.

Tobey Maguire or bust.

Tobey was a terrible Spider-Man and Parker.

Oh shit, I totally forgot she was supposed to be in Spider Man
Do we know why she never made it to the final thing?

Only Sony knows and they didn't have a fucking clue what they were doing when filming the Amazing Spider-Man 2, other than promoting their shitty products.

It's a shame that Sony took and ruined the name "Amazing Spider-Man" but Spectacular Spider-Man can work.

Seems like a great fit.

Ha ha.

Feel sorry for Garfield though, he did his best but not even the best actor can redeem a crap script.

He can definitely pull it off after seeing his teen wolf clips. I think Logan could have done just as well though, maybe even better in the MCU style. Dylan fits the cartoon style pretty well, but I don't think the MCU is as "funny"

Younger Parker is what they need to do. Get some younger blood in the MCU already. Spidey no less. It's gonna be so perfect. How awesome seriously, would it be to have the best superhero in the MCU be some young teenager.

Who knows what they actually end up doing. Too many conflicting rumors.

This makes me want to watch that show. Is it terrible?

My understanding was two things:

1) They thought it was a little tonally weird for Peter to be macking and flirting with MJ in the same movie that Gwen dies.

2) ASM2 was already running super long and that was one of the easiest thing to cut since it's a side plot that is really only there to set up the relationship for the next movie.

A lot of people want to say it was because of fan outcry, but I seriously doubt that factored in much. Studios don't cut entire side plots just because a vocal minority of fan boys are displeased with a casting choice.

Wife and I have marathoned it over the last few weeks. Overall it has some really good moments.

Season 1 - Pretty terrible Overall, but sets up season 2 . The lead cant act, but is so bad its kinda corny good if that makes sense? Jackson's character grates on my nerves with his horrible acting also. We keep watching because of Coach and Stiles honestly.

Season 2 - Quality majorly picks up, production value increases a TON, characters really come into their own. Much darker also

Season 3.1 - Even better than season 2. Really love the Isac character (any Originals fans will instantly take to him, as the actor left teen wolf to be in Originals)

Season 3.2 - VERY VERY Good. Stiles (the guy we are talking about here) completely and utterly destroys all the other characters in the show. This kid can act and these episodes prove it. Also I was supremely happy they got rid of a certain annoying character at the end of this season. Good riddance!

Season 4 - So far terrible.

If there is one thing the show proves its that Dylan O'Brien can act and would be a great Spiderman

I saw The Mazerunner and thought he was super bad in that, but to be fair, everything and everyone involved with The Mazerunner was complete garbage, so.

His acting in Maze Runner was fantastic. Absolutely made a good movie into a great one single-handedly.

Too bad I don't like Spider man as a character, otherwise, I would have been jumping up and down with this news, if true.

This is very accurate.

Yep. Season 4 is just... ugghhhhh.

But Season 3.2 was fucking awesome. Dylan just went circles around everyone.

Alright I just poked around Youtube for some interviews and stuff with Dylan and yeah I'm definitely getting a Peter/Spidey vibe. He's got a perfect tone for delivery of that dry sarcastic wit.

Good choice but too old if they plan on having more than 1 highschool based Peter Parker movie. 19-20 should be the starting point. Or we could make even more rapid advancements in CGI that it doesn't matter I guess.

lol at the Donald Glover/Miles Morales backlash. We really could use more non-white heroes on the screen, and no, just having Black Panther doesn't mean that all their bases are covered.

But he's black and the main character! What more do you want?!

non-white heroes sure, but we also have plenty of black heroes. so how about some more non-black, non-white superheroes if diversity is what we're aiming to incorporate?

Miles Morales is a 14-year-old kid. Donald Glover is a 31-year-old man.

Sure we could use more non-white heroes, but there are other black actors you know. Just like Idris Elba doesn't have to play every middle-aged black character, maybe Donald Glover, despite being black and starring in a sitcom, may not be the greatest fit for Spider-Man.
