Rumor: Dylan O'Brien has been cast as Spider-Man

yes it does, man.HR and deadline ran with it because LR first put it out.

They "ran with it" because they independently verified the story had basis in truth. If it didn't, they wouldn't have run with it. Because they didn't have to. Latino-Review isn't a direct competitor to them. Latino-Review having a scoop doesn't mean THR & Deadline now have to play catch up. It DOES mean that if they look into that scoop and get their own verification, they now have their OWN story.

Again - all I'm trying to point out is that your reasoning is a little busted: Saying the reddit guy has inherently more plausibility and trust than the reports from three different outlets, all three of them featuring writers unafraid to stick their names on those reports is a little much - ESPECIALLY when you're basically only saying it because, as you've admitted, you just WANT the reddit guy to be right.

And that's fine. I'd like the reddit guy to be right, too. I like Dylan O'Brien as Spidey, I think it'd be great casting. But wanting something doesn't make it more plausible. And if Kellvin knew about the meeting with Goddard today, and two other industry magazines ended up backing that report with their own independent verification, then that HAS to trump "I just want it real bad" when it comes to plausibility.

Their sources being no one, since they are wrong most of the times.
I guess you'd expect at this age of fast information and connectivity that "insiders" would be on the ball more often, but since productions have grown as well and are fragmented as hell, it is hard to have "insiders" that are willing to have this shit traced back easily.

At this point the people who constantly complain about LR always being wrong are wrong more often than LR is.

The only part of LR's scoop I don't have much of a problem with is Goddard. If that's true, then okay. I truly do hope that parts about Iron Man and the Sinister Six is incorrect though.

Hopefully the O'Brien rumor is true as well, but I'd be fine with Lerman too. If they don't reveal this on Thursday then I expect it'll be a bit further down the line.

Edit: Well, there you go. Hope he does audition or is at least given a shot.

I think it's a lot more likely now that this anonymous reddit guy basically took the goodwill he got from his lucky guess while fronting as an insider to a forum full of people who WANTED TO BELIEVE, and doubled down.

I mean, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter whether he gets "caught" fronting. Nobody really knows who he is and all he's getting out of it is a few hours worth of fun at the fans' expense on reddit.

“I get it all the time. It’s just a rumor. I swear,” Momoa said. Then to prove his seriousness, he offered MTV News’ Josh Horowitz some insurance. “Man to man. You can punch me in the face [if I’m lying],” he said. “You’re allowed to punch me in the face. No, it’s a flattering rumor.”

Guess josh horowitz is allowed to punch him in the face now.

This is probably the case.

And refreshing the Reddit thread is rather amusing right now.

BobbyRoberts truly too reasonable for this forum.
Too reasonable to try and talk sense into MCU-GAF at least. If there is one movie franchise sub-group here who knows absolutely nothing about how the film industry works it's MCU-GAF. Bobby is to reasonable for GAF in general. Although most of the internet is worse.

I tried reaching out to my source, he's not telling me anything. Maybe Dylan is denying it, but I don't know man. I think I was lied too.

Tsk, tsk.

Tsk, tsk.

But it was OFFICIAL!

For real, it'd be cool one of these days if a fake leaker got caught out there, just shrugged and said "Fuck it. Here's how I arrived at the guess I made. This is why you bought it." It's not like they have anything to lose by doing so.

I still can't get over the idea some here claimed Hollywood Reporter and Deadline would just copy what Latino Review posted. Holy fucking Shit. I never heard such absurd nonsense.

Is there ever really a different answer?

True, true.

Still though: apparently Blomkamp got a deal at Fox to make an Alien movie because someone there was paying attention to how well the pre-production art was being recieved by the enthusiast press. Maybe someone at Marvel/Sony is paying attention to how much people were liking the idea of Dylan O'Brien as Spidey.

I'd love for this to be an example of a story that was untrue, but became true afterwards.

Just as I imagined. The Reddit poster didn't have much of a history, and he sounded dubious, but I'm still hoping Dylan will eventually land the role.

Just to clarify - even with anonymous reddit guy trying to backpedal, Sneider-style, that he "might have been lied too" (sic), people still going to put good money on "anonymous reddit guy" over Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, Latino-Review, and now Dylan O'Brien himself.

It's MCU-GAF. You will never be able to talk sense into them.

Not gonna make a guess on how things are going to shake out, but pretty much every actor denies getting a part until the studio announces it.

"I've been lied too"

dead
